Glass (2019)
A Very Shyamalan's Way To End a Trilogy
Glass is how Shyamalan shows that he knows how to end the trilogy in his way.
The film is the final for Unbreakable trilogy, about the super people in the creator's vision. In terms for Psycology effect and action, it is more mild the its predecessor but it is definitely still interesting to follow and will keep your eyes on the screen.
It is smart to make the location for these 3 super people (Glass, Dunn & Crumb) to meet at the mental institution as patients, it's believable, it's perfect to build the tension.
Dr. Staple (Sarah Paulson) , this character is one that trying to play with the mind in here, the logics built and told by Staple are quite solid for the viewer to see if it can shake Dunn & Crumb's belief. Glass in the other hand fights against Staple to win the battle, he determines not to lose what he has built and believe all along. The fight is enhance with clipsof memories from the characters. The fight is brought until the end with all its twist. the end is the best part of the film.
The actors shouldn't be questioned, all committed. Extra kudos for James McAvoy for the multiple characters and Sarah Paulson, she is very believable for the antagonist here. Also it is good for reminiscing to see some actors from Unbreakable still able to join the film as their original character such as Spencer Treat Clark as Joseph, Dunn's Son and Shyamalan even get Bostin Christopher who played as Comic Book Clerk, a supporting character but pretty important for this film. And of course Shyamalan also takes part in the film.
It is not strong as the other first two but Shyamalan sure has succeed creating film with twist storyline of his style. And he can keep all connected and relevant from Unbreakable, Split and Glass.

Dirty John (2018)
A Realistic True Crime Story
An American true crime TV series based on the podcast of the same name by Christopher Goffard. It is about John Meehan, a con artist and sociopath and his relationship with a wealthy businesswoman Debra Newell whom he met via an internet dating site.
It is interesting to see they create the series with a very realistic ambience....vibe of docufilm. The dialogues, the cinematography, the music, the sound effect such as the sound of voice on phones, or some muted scene.
It starts by letting us see that Debra is a middleage woman that is still hoping love after four failed marriages, then she met John a unique but charismatic doctor as he tells her. Her oldest child, Veronica, doesn't like him in an instance just by looking his clothes when he comes. In here the game with viewer's mind is already built but still on the surface since they take their time to let us see John and Debra's relationship.
As John keeps using Debra, it also start let us learn on the background of John and Debra family with some flashbacks in some episodes, John whose father is abusive and also conman, but what more interesting is the character of Debra's mother who is a strong christian and always believe the good in people who can be one of the reasons to encourage the murder of Cindi (Debra's sister) who is killed by her husband. She is also the one and only Debra's family members that approves John.
Great to see they let this character vivid to give more psycological effect.
Then when Debra starts to realize John is a conman, the series starts to unravel how John operates his crime after his release. But it is more of a different angle fo the story than a flashback. This part as usual is interesting to see the other side of the story but there are a couple of repetitions felt unnecessary.
The last episode of the seasonis the most intense of all and here once again they present another great character, Terra (Debra's youngest daughter), her character so consistent from the start until the end that when Terra faces crisis, it is very beautiful, they know what should be emphasized.
The ending could be more heartfelt even though it shows us that Debra is finally brave to admit and firm John is a bad person when through the entire series Debra is very lost and confuse between keep believing her relation with John or to believe that he is just a bad person.
It is a strong true crime series, thanks to Alexandra Cunningham (creator & writer, DHW writer) and supporter by beautiful performance by its actors. Eric Bana (he looks very charming yet very scary) , Connie Britton, Juno Temple, Julia Garner.
Five Feet Apart (2019)
Awareness of CF through a flat love story
Five Feet Apart (FFA) is a film about a couple of teenagers Stella Grant( @haleyluhoo ) & Will Newman ( @colesprouse ) who are patients with Cystic Fibrosis who fall in love with each other although the disease only allows them to be near each other within 6 feet but then Stella changes it to 5 feet as the act of rebelious to the disease.
The screenplay was written by #TobiasLaconis & #MikkiDaughtry then they sold it @justinbaldoni as producer and director. Also in November 2018, novel with the same name was published, the writer is Rachel Lippincott.
The film has 3 big points, about love, hope & struggle, awareness of CF.
For the love story, it is not new and quite similar with The Fault In Our Stars and flat. The characters meet, opposites attract (Stella is OCD and hopefull vs Will the random, artistic and pessimistic about his treatment), the hard relationship, the sweet gestures and so on.
On the other hand the message about hope and fight for life is delivered strong through Stella, her hopeful behaviour for the treatment and lungs transplant and her fiery words everytime she needs to encourage Will, they resound nicely .
The actors are not disappointing...but Will and Jughead are quite similar in terms of behaviour so no big changes for Cole's acting for those who watch Riverdale.
