Lost (2004–2010)

good quality nothing burger

I have mixed feeling about this show, I keep rewatching each 4-5 years if I find something chatartic, but no. I am positive as the show until last season quite good. Atmosphere is perfect music/sound good, a lot of mistery. Each season focus something ranging from time travel to pressing a button. Unfortunately the last season got awful thematic full of esoteric content totally absurd for this show, on the top it was not planned to be stopped there so an ad hoc closure added , which I cannot watch more than once, chatartic moment completelly missing. It was quite remarkable how the script writers done reboots and introduce characters, everything focus on negative property. All characters have defected family and they all know how to live on an abandoned island. I was quite supprised how they could manage the dharma stuff from casette tape to have them on the show. But at the end close everything with forget everything let's move to esotric territory and introduce the island center of earth chakra or similar garbage , where are the misteries , everything reduced to good fighting with evil, and almost all character have more negative traits than positive. At least we got somewhat of closure here even if it 0/10 not like in flash forward , which was similar misterious show where the closing is a trailer for the non-existing second season. I bet they would still air this if it would make enough profit. It could have better closing and lot of elements could be closed/finalized instead of keep waiting as nothing is solved here, just adding new misteries or a new nothing to this nothing burger series. Until the last season it generally a good series , the last season is bad and the finish is terrible, I guess the profit was on downhill the creator wanted to catch new viewers with esoteric stuff but instead of new viewers they just lost the viewer's faith. But in general if I want to compare this to current one of many netflix/similar series it is way better quality. I remember when it was aired it was together with other quite good series that time was a golden age of series, now we get more but way worse quality productions in general.

Brilliant movie, it is so simple and challenging our society in all aspect. If you watching movies for visual effect just roll over and skip this. If you love mysteries and cool story line, this is your movie. I can tell you every little moment is a about our past, present and future societies, and the fact people can't obey forever.

I read couple of review thy actually tell a lot of point, but what i can see most relevant in our current status is the manipulation of the media (fake news), and the potential dystopia, if we ignore personal freedom, and doing this via manipulation of mass media. Eventually one of the most symbolic moment when a long fight executed (how hard to awaken sleeping friend)... I was missing the final resolution and cathartic moment humanity won or whatever, but this is not really matter. This movie make people think and read between lines. Great production even is the budget and quality is not so high. There are couple of dystopian movies, which received much more attention, I found this movie so late and wondering why eg Hunger games got much more hype than this production. At that era it was common to utilize aliens as bad, but c'omon the evil is within humanity always, aliens are just symbolic here. And finally this movie utilize some very good humor, which is just some added extra. I agree with the negative side explained in the comments buildup slow, music poor, casting and visual are also limited, but I still give 10 to balance the negative feedback.... I would like to see modern movies like this.

Sherlock (2010–2017)

Originally i watched only the first three seasons ages ago, now i watched all episode. Until this time I would not give 10 to it, but after brilliant last season, this is amazing. UK rarely make really good shows, but this and DR who great, and this is so sad, that present time series on downhill :(. I want to see more like this. Really fun adaptation of the Sherloc Holmes books in 21th century, great persons with defected 21th century psychological defects, each character has own problems and epic turnovers between the personalities. It much more deeper than adaptations like elementary , but still can take your eyes for hours. Well done, I can just repeat the previous ones masterpiece.

Ad Astra (2019)

After the hype I watched this movie in an IMAX, during the 1/3 of the movie i was wondering I made a mistake, during the second half i was wondering when it will end. The movie is about nothing, full of stupid cliches. The hero is stupid, his father is more stupid, and no action at all. The film was recorded by a shaking hand operator/cameraman. I would suggest do not pay for this show, you will regret. I am sad to share one of my worst reviews, but I can't highlight a single good monument in the movie, too much drama without any action, terrible plot and unlogical flows, long time the worst experience...

Touch (2012–2013)

Well I know I watched this title first drama scifi and some user comment not bad, be honest after first season I thrown away because of bigott Christian stuff... Well I got bit older and suffered too much other series stupidness to watch over again... Well if you can put away the religious stuff this is not bad and I go more far away it is really interesting story line and behind of scene it goes through well of spectrum of autism and other menthal sickness with entertaining story lines and somewhat interesting plot... I also enjoy the also "oldschool" sentence at start and finish of all approach and the music is really well selected for this subject. The bottleneck of the serious is the somewhat silly and slow story building and all this sealed within religous bla bla, otherwise end-to-end this is pretty good show, compared to 2019 well done.

Chernobyl (2019)

At the age of CGI and low quality there is a MIRACLE. For a long time my eyes,brain,ear was not attached to any show like Chernobyl.

Hard to say anything if there could be a chance to rate 20 points from 10 this one would be the beat candidate. I think this is the best show was created last years

I saw this movie at release time, and rewatched again, first of all not a bad movie, acting especial soundtrack are great.

But it is truly overhyped here it not touched me that time and made me bit more concerned now, the plot poor, not a thriller... Somewhat logical somewhat not. Not a thriller just mistery a bit more mistary than it should 8/10 part of the film focusing on irrelevant topics of the main story, and leave the impotant things skipped or left to your imagination... There would be a lot more potential on this topic "mystery" instead of that 8/10 part of the movie they should have make my i eyes catched 2nd time i watched I can tell the biggest similar title I can bring a Lost series in a more boring format ... No chatarsys at all, so after all good thing it add such a big negative effect to make it 5/10. There is no good movie without chatartism... u can read 3/4 of a book than it burned and that was the only one instance, generally I would say script/plot is just terrible, but actors music and the way they present you the "nothing" is very good. I would not suggest you to watch this if u search for thriller ... Drama with a small mistery.

Similar plots/ideas presented a way better in master of horror miniseries or eventually in a lot of series from scifi... Seeking for the forbidden hidden secret power putting in somewhat misterious content with religion stuff, I would bet this is a bad combination... like a dc / marvel comic with mixing religion and selling with overlenght movie without output (comics never need to explain why's and hidden powers...)

Love thrillers, horrors, mystery but not this i dislike the only reason i rate it mid is how it is presented and the people. But my final word is BORING

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993–1999)

leading sci-fi anthology

I was rewatching this series in 2019, and I was pretty supprised that it was filmed in 1993. This was way better than other movies/series that time. I am at bit upset that discovery did not continue / contibute the original start trek feeling (apart from very first series , which I personaly don't like). TNG,DS9,Voyager are just perfect series. The models are nice, the casting are ok (--Obrian ++Kira). The plot is All in One, nice anthology but in the background deep and well connected story line... Ok there is no CGI, but what you expect from1993 age of Amiga (babylone 5 cgi was worse if it would be not there). So I guess this series is one of the well made old timers with real masks and models.

Pro: Nice Art, Anthology and story line, effort to mantain attention each year with additional comedy,drama,action), well made script and characters.

Con: really long opening, and closing theme (almost 2 minutes), some characters annoying, music sometimes hurt and repetative.

Apart of this 10/10 I want to see this quality today in case of story and casting.

Missions (2017– )

France coming up in SCIFI

Actually I enjoyed this show, regardless other's comment shablonic script etc. What I would highligh here this is a French series, and 25 minutes so I can imagine the effor and the benefit the effort would give them. Show starting with pure almost currently used tech and on our journey we get a big facepalm about all fantasy and mythic elements , which actually remove my star from 10 star.

I would suggest all scifi lovers with additional attention of ramping up mythic... I think i am waiting for the last episode in hungarian, I got addicted even I see the bottlenecks what people were complaining. I have never seen such an enjoyable scifi from France. Especially series, I hope they will find out something and make scifi vein greater, if they continues.

-Actors OK -Acting Good -Visual very good athmosphere, CGI ok.

Because of the 25 minutes limit, the story advance quiet fast, even with Drama it not takes ages long, which positive for me.

Forget Humanity

I just love this movie. I know the plot is quite questioning, no explanation but you can see the devolution of the people who got into the "safe place" , which one better survive or die ? Watch this I would chosen the fast way. I don't want to spoil the movie so the only thing i can highlight, no justice, brutal, crazy!

Do not expect huge places or visual effect, but for this Thriller no reason for it, the acting is really good, the feeling is terrible as it should be!

The Outer Limits (1995–2002)

If you like scifi you MUST watch this, I think this is basic like twilight zone. If you don't like scifi you must watch this title and you will like it. Everything in this series just perfect, sometimes you need to put away the teaching/moral part. This series will be similar like traditional old school scifi series each episode (or episodes for multipart episodes) will have no connection to each other, unfortunately in later episodes OL try to adapt to the market and make / trying to make summarize episodes and connect them (no clue why but they so). I was quite supprised see 1995 , when i was watching i would bet 1990, however this might caused by the low budget. There is no advanced casting or technologies in the visualization, but the stories and theor cohesion is still able to compensate the prehistorical effect or bad actors.

I am pretty sure this series has proven and shown up a lot of scifi fundamental topics and basement of moder scifi series. If you start watching this you will see a lot of connection to other series. Couple of episodes are good enough to be compared to normal movies "whole evening show", however because of the complexity and avaiable time the story just too fast. Because the episodes are not connected the wasted bacground stories character introduction etc thrown away, which actually gives you 40 minutes full entertainment.

In some cases this series just advanced it ' s age , sometimes it just reimplemented few twolight zone parts/earlier OL series. Due to the low budget and outdated visual, graphical effect the viewer's number dropped a lot. If you start watching this and you SHOULD, you get hooked fast get the OL feeling the straight forward episode scripts and the strict format of each episodes make extreme easy to consume. I Am sure after finishing the first season you will know the entire opening from begining to the end.

The categorizarion of the series is incorrect there is no horror , sometimes disgusting or cam be fear but not horror 90% of the case you will get some scientic background or explanatiom why and how it happened, of course there are exceptioms but to say horror big NO. Let's call it dark themed sometimes. A lot whole evenimf cinema movies are rewritten OL episode scripts. I think 90s scifi series are produced the fuel for 2000-2020 scifi movies background. Multiple episodes are opearate mindfkin elements like first episode finish, all bad guys killed ... wait not, as story of episodes not connected it just make no sense, if you can put away cliches, moral teaching and cheap budget it is the 10/10 and a strong 10/10 a scifi cult item. Try to look around now you will see no competitor which has this varieti of plots , correct explanatiom high diversity of stories and the ability to make them fit to the regular episode buildimg. Awesome, modern twilight zone with a lot extras

Please watch this end-to-end before rate or review this title. Your mimd will absolutle chamge after you finish 20 episodes. Bad thing the opening 2 episodes are rly full of cliches and not professional elements if you see that might would say ok this is just okay, just do not give up it is OP

This movie present nothing new, however deliver the required promiss, bugs a bit comedy. Pretty strange it in US island, but watching this movie it feeling like it is in great britan Island. We have a lot similar movies with bigger budget it still good enough, I am satisfied low budget ok performance

Additinally there are couple of placeholder events which funny especially the mouse in the maze ohhh poor mouse. Easy to watch as creepy music always remind you to listen... It a real like 1980 horror, just better video quality.

In it's category it is a good and entertaining:)

Edit 2019: I am sure we don't need to wait hundred years to reach similar environment, look around yourself , shame on humanity!

Let's start how absurd is the situation and the place where our hero awaken after a lomg sleep. Totally absurd everything , whar an aspect humans could survive with technology and literally no brain, I like the idea.

The way how all little problems in humanity and their dumbness presented is great. Sometime this seems to be "overpushed".

This movie now in 2018 is getting to be so up to date, but the reasons are different, this absurd "humanity" can arrive but not by genetics but brainwashed humans. I just thought about the actuality over the boring minutes. Music from previous centuries or even past years was rich in tones instrument with passions amd emotion. Actually all the young people listen rithms,bass, and computer keyboard generated music. The people over multiple countries given up to dig down in any topics exhausted to participate in politics or even know anything the real world around.

Mass media and social media controlled world is going to a strange direction. The human menthality such braveness or restless seek for new things are almost gone in majority of the population. I am not hundred percent sure what will happen in the next ten year if we follow this direction. The human estitic view is completelly chamged now a movie good because of the cgi , not because of the story.

I won't say it's actually a very good movie, but it has a great potential if you are open minded and can get over om the endless stupidity :P

So generally I recommend to everyone especially if you want to think the things over and see one of the most absurd potential future;)

Deception (2018)

Well a little bit silly and non-sense, but after a few episode you will just love it. I could relate this with Elementary, it is the same feeling, the music selection is great the story as it should be, brilliant casting and can catch your eyes on it. As it made for everone it not directly fit to any category boxes, despite of it's silliness and non-sense it catch your eyes that's it, It is so rare to see a good production which can be loved by everyone. I am so supprised tthat elementary not appear in suggestion/relations, the best part is the music selection and the athmosphere. The worst part is the sometime stupidness of the story and predictable turn arounds, but hey this is still awesome!

Eureka (2006–2012)

No need to talk a lot one of the best mixture if scifi comedy and a small drama. Characters good actors doimg well. I am sad that syfi stopped the series even they delayed the last season it could be a lot more potential as the only purpose of the city to create new ultimate technologies and who solve the mostly fundamental problems solved by the "stupid" sheriff.

It could be slower and without many soft resets, nut still great series i can only recommend it to everyome

First of all ... sorry I usually write positive reviews , but in this case I can't , it was advertised as a scifi+horror movie , well it is defenitelly not that. Second thing this movie is not holding your attraction... Even art movies can take your attention, but this movie slow , it seems to enjoy it you need to take some of their pills, and if u thought it just bad, then it comes up will be worse they want way too far with this "art" vein characters not introduced , they have no story, eventually they has no goal as well or anything you can think of, the only reason i put ni worse score, because even I hate 100years loneliness novel, because it slow and boring , it one of the best books for other people. Generally therefore i would give 4 stars but could not do because i thought ok i will listen this in background and focus something else but it is not possible because the voices/effects are totally annoying, watching it in a theater / cinema would lead people leave the room, just bad i have no words... If you like the mentioned novel give a try everyone else just don't waste your time it won't be your film

Well we have a situation we play with some science stuff lead whole planet covered with water , well not a single movie about this mechanism , but inside of this new formed family daily tragedies and pleasures form a very good atmosphere. Some episodes are silly but in each episode a freakin game changer come to the picture. I remember long ages ago started to watch this series, but not end-to-end. With the sequental order and little patient a pretty good soap oper-scifi-post apocaliptic drama will form and make you addicted. It really worth extra stars actors has own each characters, playing well. Plot is exciting and bring up freaking new elements into the series. If you can enjoy the apocaliptic drama with a little comic spice , its your series. Especially worth as I have never seem such a good acting amd plot from spanish movies as movies (horror and scifi junkie:)). Based on this definetely minimum 9 star , great idea , and great made series , i can recommend this to anyone well done!

Eden Lake (2008)

A movie which will keep you hanging for couple of weeks

Well Read previous reviews, where people complaining the illogical acting, and give one star. Who prefer comedies should STAY at comedy. This movie is not the reality, this will drive you deep feeling the anxiety, depression farer and farer from the reality a world which has no truth has no respect and has no solution.

Everything just drive you more far to the fairless world until the evening, where you expect to have some sort of solution. Even the movie over nothing is over and it keep you back under shiver. There is no justice at all, no judge. A horror movie never logical, how something like alien or CUBE etc can be logical. Just watch this movie from the start until the final second...

If you are not feeling the anxiety you might be psychopath / sociopath.

I am very sad and see the rating of this movie and couple other in this genre, totally underrated and misunderstood. This title best in the get totally lost in it feel the unfair atmosphere... It will lead you in overthinking what and how should have happened.

Just to compare some rough recent mindless horror Heredity got almost 8 point for literally 0 touch with your soul, and this movie is about 6, sky and ground in reality.

Jupiter's Moon (2017)

Another jewel in art movies

This movie as a Hungarian makes me a little bit nervous from the begging , the writer represent the country like it was in 1980-1990, I think the contrast about the reality and the presented Hungary is so big. Why I say this is a pure art movie: There is no chained explained story line, the script always blowing bubbles and they just "levitate" away. I think if it would not be advertise I would not watch it as Hungarian art movies are not touching my soul. I could see the presented contrast and puritan environment highlight out huge social problems, I think sometimes bit drastically , you will see episodes, which make no sense to this "minimal" story line, but blowing huge balloons blown.

I guess more than 50% of this movie is pure critics about the humanity, and compare global issues with personal problems, and sometimes the personal problem grows global. I am not sure if I could understand the whole movie, as it need a lot focus, and as it has no linear easy story line, but I think no one will as you can't find something, which is not in the movie:).

As a Hungarian I suggest it everyone who a little bit interested in drama, it will not move you closer to my country, but there are couple episodes of the movie, which will bind you to the monitor. I am rating the best parts of the movie, not the majority, 8 rating is the max in the movie, average i would rate it 5, from Hungarian movie industry it is the best movie in the last 2-3 years!

The Philadelphia Experiment (1984)

Pretty good movie

I just have a hobby re-watch old-timers. compared the technology and other scripts that time it is pretty good. Only music is bit boring sometimes even annoying for me. Even the story quiet simple if I am trying to compare similar movies from 80s it still can take the attention, for me 8/10, I recommend anyone who don't care much about the CGI but like sci-fi, this will give you joyful hour.
