The Proud Family Movie (2005)
Rather Disappointing
I was really disappointed after seeing this movie. I happen to enjoy this show, and I expected a lot more from the film. I felt that the plot was all over the place, and rather far-fetched. (SPOILER) *I didn't mind the talking peanuts, but the clones were too much!!* Fortunately, Sticky, Zoe, LaCienega, and my girl Dijonay, saved this movie from total disaster. (SPOILER) *I loved that battle dance!* Much more use could have been made of Uncle Bobby. He's always good for some comic relief. Does anyone know who did Uncle Bobby's voice? I'm sure it wasn't Cedric, the Entertainer. Perhaps the new season of shows will offer more to the viewer than this movie. At least I'm hopeful. Out of ***** I give "The Proud Family Movie" **.

Between the Lions (1999)
Yes, it is Cheesy!
That being said, I am of the opinion that "BTL" is also functional. I live in a state where the public school system has abandoned phonics. Instead, the children are given lists of words to memorize. What I appreciate about this show is that it teaches children how to read. My 4-year old (who is now 8, in 2nd grade and reads on a 5th/6th grade level) learned that letters make sounds and that putting sounds together makes words. That turned out to be an invaluable lesson for him and, later, for my next child (who doesn't begin K-5 until the fall, but already reads 1st grade books). As inane as some of it is (the Cliff Hanger skit is incredibly stupid) if children can pick up the basic tools of phonics, I will support it.

What is Going On??
I have been a total L&O fan from day 1. I think the writing and acting are some of the best ever on television. I loved the Mike Logan and Lennie Briscoe era the best. I was never really sold on Elizabeth Rohm as ADA, so her departure from the show was no big shock. But when she asked Arthur Branch if she was being fired because she was a lesbian, I was floored. As I've said, I've seen every episode--this came from nowhere. I pray that this wasn't a "jump the shark" thing. I wonder about the pressure to try and keep up with "Desperate Housewives" etc. The fact that this show is plot driven instead of character driven is the best thing about it. If you have to miss an episode or two, you don't get lost. I love "ER" also, but it is very east to get lost. Hopefully with the latest fresh face on board, L&O can get back to what we love best: intriguing criminals, cases, and an insider's view of the often seamier side of the justice system.
