Problemista (2023)
An excruciating experience
This film was an excruciating experience. It centers on the desperate plight of an immigrant needing visa sponsorship to remain in the US, who dreams of becoming a toy designer.
Laden with cringe-inducing, soul-sapping dialogue and abysmal attempts at humor, this movie inflicts sheer torment on its audience. I had to abandon it after an excruciating hour, as I could no longer subject myself to such unbearable agony.
It's unclear whether the director, who also casts himself in the lead role, habitually walks like a Japanese geisha in real life, but he certainly does in this film. Alongside him, the woman who employs him exhibits frantic, neurotic behaviour, further destabilising the already weak narrative.
Watching this movie felt akin to enduring an episode of the Teletubbies... utterly painful.

If you want to save the world don't be vegan, stop having children
The documentary is intriguing, but like many in its genre, it falls short.
Becoming vegan isn't the panacea for the world's issues; the real solution lies in birth control. Our global population has grown excessively large. Regardless of whether we consume plants, meat, or fish, the sheer number of us is overwhelming for our planet. Given the upward trajectory of progress, the per capita consumption of resources is only going to increase.
The only viable solution to challenges in both fishing and farming is to significantly reduce the population in the coming years. This might necessitate implementing a global one-child policy, or even a temporary halt on childbirths. Such a drastic measure, combined with stringent regulations on farming and fishing, could potentially reverse the detrimental effects of overpopulation.
Consider the impact of population growth.
