SAW is family
8 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I didn't have much expectations for the Texas Chainsaw Massacre sequel since only knowing the iconic first one, but let's say it did not disappoint that much. Sure its not living up to the first film, but I did enjoy it. Stretch is actually smart protoganist, and makes somewhat smart choices (towards end.. not that much) and really liked her. She knew how to take care of things and didnt need much saving like final girls usually do, and the gore is surprisingly good for this one with the special effects. The family is all twisted and evil, having some fun and weird moments. Pretty legendary ending too!!

9-1-1: Buck, Bothered and Bewildered (2024)
Season 7, Episode 4
10/10
Thank you 9-1-1
5 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I've just rediscovered this show. This show is so great showing diverse stories, complex characters and plots. Oliver Stark has done absolutely fantastic job as Evan "Buck" Buckley. I have been fan of him since episode one, and loved to see his character grow up and develop as the seasons go. This is another amazing storyline, discovering who he is. It doesn't change anything: Buck has always been bi. It doesn't change anything, and it just means he can be more himself and learn about himself. His chemistry with Tommy is off the roots: all other previous partners combined. I trust this show to treat a male bisexual character well, and can't wait to see where his story goes from here. So thank you 9-1-1 for making this incredible, relatable, fun and amazing character.

Mary & George (2024)

I had great hopes for this, even I knew what it was mostly about. The actors are great. The costumes are really well-done, as the locations and landscape. The camera work is nice. Nicholas Galitzine is great as George Villiers, really shines and we know about his perfect performances already from previous roles. His micro-expressions are something out of this world, and I'm sure he's gonna have a successful acting career. And Julianne Moore as Mary Villiers the mother really work, the mother-son duo. I'm not sure how historically accurate it is, and well the plot isn't much to go for. It's mostly smut and naked people. If that's your go-to, watch this. Otherwise you might be let down.

Tried too much
29 February 2024
I love campy 80s horror slasher flicks, even the new meta ones like "Final Girls" so, I was excited to see what this one would be like, another summer camp slasher movie. I was sadly disappointed, but not that surprised.

Unfortunately, the film is not special in any way or considered horror or slasher. Nothing happens slasher-wise until you have already gotten bored. It's poorly written and not particularly scary or funny. Also, there are too many characters. None of them are likeable so you don't care if they live or die. Actingis oversll cringe and just bad. I ended up skipping most parts. You eventually don't care what happens.

Fringe - amazing show still today
7 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I am on my Fringe rewatch, and watching the Pilot after so many years is reminding of me about this amazing show. Anna Torv does remarkable performance as work-driven, confident FBI agent Olivia Dunham. John Noble and Joshua Jackson are the unstable father-son duo. John Noble does brilliant acting as the lunatic/one of a kind scientist doctor. Lance Redsick is an interesting charcater with mysterious ways to him. The premise is reminding very much of X-Files, and it works. It's not a total copy of it but makes original plot of its own. It keeps you interested and wanting to learn more. I am looking forward rewatching this show.

Piggy (2022)

Had potential
31 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
When I read the synopsis of "Piggy" I thought, hey, this is a cool plot for a horror movie. I went in expecting horror but it's more drama than horror. My bad. It could have worked better ad a horror tbh than drama story. Sara is a nice character, her actress too does great job I give them that. However, I feel like the message they tried to convey could have delivered better: we do see Sara's issues, the bullying, but doesnt go much deeper than that. It deals with body self esteem, growing up, bullying but leaves it very shallow. Her "relationship" with the killer guy seems off and weird. Ending was ok but nothing that hasn't been done before.

Timeless love story
18 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I highly recommend this movie. Zee and NuNew are incredibly talented actors and the chemistry is so good between them. I knew this movie would not let me down. The romance between them is slow but so worth it.

The music is also very pleasing and suited the movie and the situation really well. And we already know NuNew is a great singer, would have loved to hear more from him than just the start! The horror aspect is nicely done too with the creepy atmosphere. It's not exactly "horror horror" but does its tricks. The only thing was unresolved was the possible romance between Kraiphop and Phutson, did they ever get together? It was kind of left unsolved, but didn't bother me too much. Other than that, totally recommend this movie.

Cabin Fever (2002)
4/10
It's in the water..
7 January 2024
Director Eli Roth's "Cabin Fever" starts as this is another story about some killer hillbillies in the countryside. The use of a deadly virus, flesh-eating disease is both disgusting and somewhat original in some ways. It's nothing new surely. I wonder what was the origin of the virus, and where it came from in the first place, but it's never explained. The makeup gore is nicely done too.

The main characters are college kids out to party in the cabin, and things get ugly. They are typical drunk students, a bit annoying. In spite of this, one actually feels a bit of empathy toward them, once the sickening stuff begins.

Let's see whats under the mask
6 January 2024
"Haunt" is a surprise B-horror movie with a lot to offer. I think the movie works the best when you don't read too much about it, or have much expectations. The plot is simple, feels cliche sure, but exceeds your expectations. The plot builds up quickly, keeps you creeped out by each different room in the haunted house. The main characters are not your typical annoying but likeable (even making stupid mistakes). Especially Harper's actress is very good and does great performance. The deaths are original and gory. All of the masked people haunted house are creepy af. The ending is one to remember.

Elevator Game (2023)

It's going down
5 January 2024
"Elevator Game" is based on the online viral trend that happens inside an elevator, in which players attempt to travel to another dimension using a set of rules. We knew they'd make a movie out of this. Is it campy and corny, sure. Does the plot have holes, sure. Is it entertaining? .. well. Eh. Not really. It's everything you expect from a B-horror movie with low budget. The acting isn't the strongest as isn't the script. Can I add, the "Fifth floor woman" reminded me of Taylor Swift Look What You Made Me Do MV lol. If you want to watch actually good horror movie that keeps the suspense up while in elevator, watch "Devil" (2010).

I'm Sure It Was Trying To Say Something
4 January 2024
Even for a slow burn, the pace is super slow, as there is an absence of conflict for a big part of it. There is no suspence of any kind to keep you interested. It's boring and you don't care for any of the characters.

The horror is all left for the very end. Nothing wrong with that, it could have worked if it was actually interesting. There could have been more suspense, creepiness and killing to keep you watching. Like "The Menu", which was done much better. The problem with this movie is that the film is so eventless and boring that I wasn't interested anymore. I kept skipping to the end.

Interesting theme that could have been much better.

Barbie (I) (2023)

You are Kenough
4 January 2024
For a movie that is so overhyped, "Barbie" by Greta Gerwig did not disappoint. I waited on purpose to watch this film, and I enjoyed it. There are also plenty of good, deep messages to be taken away from it from the exploration what means to be woman, consumerism and capitalism, and existentialism. It's also funny and hilarious. Margot Robbie IS Barbie. The Barbieland is perfectly done, with the pink and bright colors. I wish we saw more of that. The diverse versions of Barbies was done great, the entire doll world. It reflect great contract to the real world. I'm sure there were lot of easter eggs I missed I will try catch on my other watches. It does give us meaning that even in modern world, equality is to be still achieved, and that maybe, we are Kenough.

Royal Holiday
3 January 2024
I've been really into Hallmark Christmas romcoms lately, and "One Royal Holiday" did not disappoint. Sure it's cliche, and predictable, but also sweet to watch. It's cheesy like all the others don't get me wronf, and doesn't bring anything new to the table.

Yet the characters are funny and sweet, especially the Queen! I loved her. Aaron Tveit and Laura Osnes are great match for the couple, and cute together.

It's one of those cheesy romantic comedy movies where you know what happens, but you end up watching it anyway because it's making you smile and laugh. Sure some things don't make sense if you think about them being royals, but at the end it doesn't bother you that much.

A Christmas Love Story (2019 TV Movie)

Love you like a Christmas Love Song
3 January 2024
I saw 'A A christmas Love Story' by accident. I saw it on my TV, thinking, I could watch that one day and I did. It did not disappoint, even being a cliche Hallway Christmas romcom. I'm a fan of Kristen Chenoweth, so I knew she'd slay this one too. She and Scott Wolf had great chemistry too.

Sure the romantic angle of the story is very standard Hallmark as any other, with it doing very little new with very over-familiar story tropes used so many times. The Christmas decorations are off the roof as always. Very to be surprised with the plot, though there were some nice "plot twist" revelation at the end.

The Holiday Sitter (2022 TV Movie)

Need more Christmas holiday movies like this!
3 January 2024
"The Holiday Sitter" is about Sam is about to get on a plane to Hawaii for Christmas, however his sister calls desperately asking for his help: she needs a babysitter. When he gets there he meets the family's neighbour and friend Jason who helps him with his niece and nephew. And tale old as time, they fall in love.

This was Hallmark's first Christmas movie featuring two gay characters in leading roles and gay romance. The leads have amazing chemistry together. It's must waited for and succeeds perfectly. There's more straight Hallmark romcoms than you can count for, so it's only expected to do queer one. We need more LGBT+ happy, romcom, holiday movies. It's the representation that we need more. Ones that the tell of gay people falling over Christmas. Love is love, and for everyone.

This is one of those movies that just makes you smile. It cheers you up, making you happy. Definitely adding to my Christmas movie list.

We won't give up without a fight
3 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
"Conference " is a team-building conference for municipal employees turns into a nightmare when accusations of corruption begin to circulate and plague the work environment. At the same time, a mysterious figure begins murdering the participants.

The plot is cliche, but somehow works. The cinematography is nicely done with the directing. The actors are not bad either. The message of abusing environment, corruption and racism was nice add, could have gone deeper with that message, but it wasn't necessary.

The movie keeps you interested, as the killing starts happening pretty soon. The deaths were original and nicely done. The killer was actually smart at points, making sure they couldn't leave, setting up traps etc. I was pleasantly surprised. The plot twist wasn't anything ground-breaking, but resolved the plot of movie.

Covid horror
2 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Parker and her best friend take off to her family's secluded second home to quarantine during the rise of the COVID 19 pandemic, but then a stalker has followed them there, and a horror begins. It is haunting and creepy at moments.

It balances the tone of the covid pandemic, being funny and serious. It's a bit predictable as you can guess the killer's motives but has a small twist at the end. It's horror home invasion with covid twist. The only thing I didn't understand was the guy at the start, did he also have something to do with the son..? But It's not the most original horror, but has nice touch to it. It is a decent horror to watch once.

We can't all die first
1 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I watched 'The Blackening' with zero expectations. It's a funny, gorey hilarious horror comedy with a bit of twist. The race element is strong here, obviously, but it takes it with a comedic point of view. Black characters in horror genre are known to always die first, and never survive to the ending (but that is slowly changing in the horror genre, for example Jordan Peele's horror movies). The characters are somewhat stereotypical, but well-played. I really enjoyed Clifton's performance. Alison was nicely done character too. The only plot hole I found was the mind-reading, I didn't understand how it was possible (because of the drug?). But overall, very enjoyable horror flick.

Not the Saw as it used to be
21 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I am a fan of Saw franchise and the series. I was really looking forward to this new one even the last ones havent been as good, not to mention the spin-offs. I did enjoy good John Kramer flashback and story as anyone else. It was nice to see him and in action again, even it didn't live up for the hype. The traps werent that good as before, or shocking. I think the only good one was the one in the poster. There was lot of filler with the trap and victims. They werent likeable either so you didn't really care for them. I enjoyed seeing Amanda again though, Shawnee Smith is perfect role for her. I wish we got to see othet cameos too. Maybe next one will be better, or maybe we need to leave this series on a trap too.

Magical sleigh ride
20 December 2023
I happened to catch this accidentally on tv. I am not usually fan of Hallmark's movies. There was something different about this. It's nothing new and very cliche, yet stayes really warm and happy. The main leads have great chemistry. It doesnt feel too sappy or cliche. I actually enjoyed the story and the mains falling in love again. It's cute and sweet and cheers you up. Also gets you to your Christmas mood. There is something about small towns and them throwing a Christmas party :"D Really enjoyed it. Also magical sleighs? It was nice add and a little bit that magical mystery. 10/10 will be adding this to my annual Christmas movie list.

The Truth Is Out There
18 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
"Leave the World Behind" is a very intelligent, original and keeps you at the edge of your seat movie. Say whatever you want about the ending, I enjoyed it a lot. The actors are talented, especially Julia Roberts. The cinematography is incredible and sets up the mood for every scene. I love how the director used the pov and different camera angles throughout the movie to create that really creepy, unsettling feeling. The soundtrack of the movie sets the eerie vibe too. Sure it's a bit long, and could have survived without the fillers, but the captivating plot and twists kept you watching. You really wanted to know what was happening and why, the deer were really creepy snd mysterious. Animals definitely always know something is up. The main message was that we shouldnt be so addicted to technology and phones, this is example of that, apocalypse or not. I didnt mind the ending, it gives you make one theory of your own. Even in all of midst of chaos, we crave for comfort. We dont always need explanation for things, and it actually makes it scarier. Also how scary it is how realistic this felt like.. And maybe message for the future..

Silent Night (I) (2021)
5/10
Last Christmas
18 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I watched "Silent Night" without reading much about it. I think that's the best way seeing it, without knowing much. It has nice unique premise. The government has announced that world is ending and offering a "dignity suicide". It starts slowly and hinting about the reasons behind it. Art is one of the people who is brave enough to question it. I also have questions: Why did they trust blindly, and why the scientists never researched the cause of it? Did everyone just assume the toxic fog cloud kills you automatically? You would think the government would want to know what was causing it. What about the people who survived it, they never came forward? Did no one see them because others died with the pill? Was there a group of survivalist somewhere out there just living? Couldn't they have warned others who the storm didn't reach yet? The main question was if the government knew or not about it. Would it be so cruel to lie for their people to safe the planet, or think there was no other solution than give the suicide pills? Makes you think huh. But, to give this movie higher rating, it should have dug deeper in that area and maybe the ending could have shown the people surviving the fog. Well. Mainly I think the message behind this was not to trust blindly the government/media.

dumb kids doing dumb things
17 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I think "Talk to me" could have been been great, it had potential. I think teen horror is still trendy but these kids were so disrespectful it drove me crazy. They knew what they were doing was not respectful towards the spirits/ghosts whatever, yet still kept doing it anyway for laughs AND film it. Like nah. None of the characters were likeable either. Whats with horror these days making the characters so unlikeable?? I ended up rooting for the spirits cos damn i get it. Man I would be pissed too if some dumb kids did this kind of bs lol. They had it coming and acted surprised when they got what was deserved.

The most dangerous animal
16 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I heard a lot stuff about 'Tusk' so I decided to give it a go. I knew what I was getting into so it wasnt all shocking, even when seeing the "walrus suit" for the first time was indeed.. surprising. I know what the movie is after, and the message. Man is the most dangerous animal out there. Yet, in a twisted way , it made sense. All Howard wanted was friend, companion. I think he was very well writtten "villain". The biggest issue for me was Wallace. I hate when horror movies make protagonists unlikeable and annoying. You want me to root for someone who I don't care if dies or lives? That's the thing with Wallace. He was arrogant, rude and selfish. I honestly didnt like him for a second and didn't feel any sympathy for his outcome. I actually wished Howard survived.

Knock knock
3 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
"Knocking" or "Koputus" is a really interesting and original Finnish horror. I am glad Finnish is starting to make more horror because I am pleasantly surprised. The story is original and captivating. It keeps you interested with some "plot twists" towards the end, nothing life changing but nicely done. The characters, three sibglings, carry the movie especially Matilda. It doesn't need more characters. I really loved the old lady and feel like we could have gotten more of her history with the family and woods. I enjoyed the lore they gave about the forest. I was so intrigued to the story I wished there were more. The ending was very memorable and chilling. Makes you think to never underestimate the powers of nature.
