Missing (2012)
"Missing" in Action?
Loved season 1 - great story, excellent music, and outstanding acting, especially Ashley Judd's performance!
I understand that I am a "late-bloomer" in submitting a review for this series... Ever since Season 1 ended, I have not given up searching the TV channels for this series, eagerly awaiting the showing of Season 2 (in case ABC or other network decides to air it). I am dying to find out how Becca will escape next! In fact, it is through yet another failed search that prompted me to submit my review today.
It has been a while since I watched Season 1 series; therefore, I thank the many viewers' mentioning of the great areas and fine series reviews. Nevertheless, I was quite surprised to see the negative reviews and low ratings by some others. After reading some viewers' negative/low ratings based on either just the pilot or limited episode viewings, I wondered if the rating would have been much higher and more positive if they had persisted in watching the whole series before rating...
What I remember impressionably was that I was captivated by the pilot program and faithfully followed each subsequent episode. In every episode, I was in the moment with Becca and felt her joy, anxiety, torment, and worry over her son's whereabout and safety. At times, I cried... and cheered when he was finally safe and sound by her side...
I cannot believe ABC canceled the series and left us hanging... What happened - both in the story after the Season 1 dramatic ending and why the abrupt cancellation of the show?!? This thriller drama was so much better than many other not-up-to-par series that are kept running for years! I cannot help but agree that the present rating (6.7) doesn't do justice to such a great show. In my view, this series deserves an average of 8+ stars (with viewers' differential tastes taken into consideration). I decided to give it a 10 (which wouldn't be unfair either) in hope to somewhat help adjust what appears to be a "miscalculation" in the current average rating...
I totally agree that ABC should give "Missing" at least another chance and leave it to viewers' discretion of whether to stay with the show or not. For some who claim not to like the series, they will have the option to tune into another drama during the time of Season 2 showing. If Season 2 (and/or more) is not to be aired ever, for those of us who fell in love with the 1st series and unable to find out what will happen to Becca, I think it's fitting to say that we feel at loss, yet, no option given, and that is just very unfair to the rest of us faithful ABC viewers...
With the above said, I'd like to mention that my thoughts on how much I like the show and would love to see its new series is based on the after-viewing experience of other great drama series such as Sherlock, The Soparonos, House M.D., 4400, Fringe, Dexter, The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, etc., just to name a few to show my appreciation for great drama series.
Law Abiding Citizen (2009)
Great movie over all!
~ Very unique, clever story plots that kept me tightly on my seat waiting to see what's going to happen next. A man who is courageous and intelligent in details sought justice for the murder of his family after the justice system has failed him. The ending is just as sad as the very unfortunate murder event from the start, even though the "moral of the story" is to advise or warn that one cannot take laws into one's own hand... Loved the movie; wished it could have had a better ending (and a superior acting co-star, say Denzel Washington or even Cuba Gooding Jr.)... It is a great movie worth watching; I've watched it twice and still love it – just be prepared that the ending may not meet your expectation. I wanted to rate it an 8 for the storyline, but I am rating it a 9 because of Gerard Butler's outstanding performance!
Bending All the Rules (2002)
So I learned don't be Bending All the Rules!
My boyfriend and I did like Bradley Cooper in The Hangover and a couple of his other movies. We were choosing between this one and another movie (which has one of our favorite actors). Generally it takes us a while to warm up to new or somewhat new rising stars, and we normally stick to our favorite long-standing actors. This time we figured, well, since we were on vacation, why not "bending all the rules"? (And why not? Title fits the mood....)
We were very disappointed shortly after the movie began... with the acting, sound effect, and content/storyline, etc. My boyfriend fell asleep 15 minutes into the movie, and I couldn't watch any more after half an hour... I am quite generous when it comes to movie ratings; in addition, someone practically had to twist my arms for me to give up watching even a rather bad movie – hoping it'd get better... This one didn't pass my hoping! It bent it... and motivated me to write my first movie review! I am also hoping that others might take the more negative reviews into considerations before renting or buying it... It is quite a waste of time and money!
