Oppenheimer (I) (2023)
Missing the point.
31 July 2023
The film is interesting from a political point of view, showing the influences of power. However, too much time is spent on that, and not enough on what would make sense to an audience unfamiliar with the story. As a result, many elements are skipped over. First, it lacks empathy for its main character, who seems lost in the middle of a cause that is beyond him, even though he has succeeded in carrying out a project of considerable scope, and, above all, ignores the consequences of the invention, both for the inhabitants of the research site and in Japan, and Oppenheimer's stance on arms control. A great pity.

Interesting and well presented
9 January 2023
A brilliantly presented history of Flanders that makes you want to know more about our regions, in the style of the best reportage that the BBC, or perhaps Belgian national television in its early days, could produce. Well done. The story is presented in sequences and always linked to the present time, with CGI if needed. The jumps in history are quick but it is to get to the point. The reconstructions are interspersed with interviews. It is very didactic and sometimes funny. A good initiative. Some episodes could be reused by Wallonia, which would reduce the cost of producing the southern version.

Belfast (2021)
Through the eyes of bourgeoisie
14 March 2022
Long story about a family that think to leave Belfast but cannot decide. Nothing really meaningful about the History; nothing is explained. Short pace editing without soul. The choice for black and white is also not meaningful.

Repetitive editing

The idea is not bad, but the installation is somewhat repetitive and a bit long. We are following her, but the information about why this story is interesting is to be found in a flashback that only reveals itself bit by bit.

Don't pay for that, it's not fun at all

Not funny at all. Nothing. The story is going nowhere. It's as if they filmed themselves on a set without knowing why they are there. Boring and sexist jokes. The only thing nice is the colourful Burgundy costumes.

Well made, smart and enlightening. The basis of white supremacy explained. Strong and moving.
