Hellcats (2010)
Beats your exceptions
When I saw the commercial for Hellcats, I practically wanted to die. Dude! A cheerleading-show, and especially when they compared it to Bring it on!
Even worse got it when I saw the cast: Ashley Tisdale, the little horrible High School musical-actress - no way. I was totally against the show. I had almost already promised myself that I wouldn't even watch the premiere, but I couldn't help it and I watched it.
And it's not that bad at all. Basically it's about Marti, a lawyer student at Lancer College in Memphis. She is best friends with Dan (Matt Barr)and spends most of her time doing: homework, until her scholarship ends or it gets taken away. Marti must then find a new way to keep her in school, which she does by entering the cheerleading tryouts for the school's cheerleadingteam Hellcats.
Of course Marti makes it and she's basically introduced to a totally different world: Cheertown!
I like the characters, and from the beginning I thought that Marti would definitely be my favorite, but she's not, actually Savannah is - Ashley Tisdale role - since I find her storyline more interesting. She's the typical cheerleadingcaptain, and in the beginning you kind of get the feeling that she's the queen-bee, but she's not, she's bubbly and happy, but there's more beneath the surface, serious familyproblems. Compared to Marti who is a very big cliché-character, or that's just my opinion. She's the rebel-looking girl, smart and sexy, and even though she hates cheerleading in the beginning she still knows how to do a backflip because of a gymnastic-past. And of course she falls in love with one of the guys from the cheerleading-team, even though it's obvious that Dan - her best buddy is clearly in love with her.
Dan though I like (Matt Barr), maybe because he impressed me in One tree hill where he played a psychopath and in Harper's Island. In the beginning you kind of get the feeling that he's into Marti, until he gets introduced to Savannah - right now they're apparently having a little flirt - I hope it lasts, it would be too cheesy if he ends up with Marti. Kind of like One tree Hill did with Peyton and Lucas - major mistake.
But the show is not that bad. The script is okay, the acting is really impressing and some of the scenes are really good. I think a lot of people will enjoy the dance-scenes, which also gives this show extra credit, and makes it special. Have we ever seen a cheerleading-show? No, not from what I recall.
Love it or hate it... but it has potential which always brings options.
The Last Song (2010)
Start rating this movie properly
Usually you're really disappointed when you watch a movie, that's based on a book. I read the Last Song before I saw the movie, and when I heard that Miley Cyrus was going to play Ronnie Miller in the movie-production, I was officially mad.
Therefore I chose not to see the movie, directly I judged that the movie would suck! Basically! I read then the book again, on my way over to USA, and I remembered that there actually was a movie, so I decided that once I'd hit Blockbuster I would rent it.
So I and my friends rented it, and I'd told myself to have no expectations at all, since it was a Miley Cyrus movie aka. Hannah Montana.
But the movie completely surprised me. Miley Cyrus didn't shine in this movie, in fact nobody shined – but there was still something to it. It followed the book so well, like really well – and Miley Cyrus looked like Ronnie.
You can say a lot about the acting, you can say that Miley sometimes sounded a little too Hannah Montana-ish, but I think she broke pretty much out of that shell, or at least she tried.
I have to disagree with all the people who think it's flat? What exactly
- This is when I start thinking: I think a lot of people judged this movie by the fact that Miley Cyrus plays the lead role, if it had been Emma Roberts or Emily Browning, I think this movie would have gotten a totally different ratings. I cried, I laughed and I loved some parts of this movie. But it's not a Notebook ..
The Secret Life of the American Teenager (2008)
Lost its potential in bad script, bad directing, bad acting etc.
The first time I saw the commercial of the secret life of an American teenager, I was like: Go' finally, the American show-industry lets a teenager get pregnant. I saw the pilot and a couple of episodes, and I was hooked, even though the show was played and written half-hearted.
It had something to it. A bunch of characters, all of course stereotypes, which I personally hated. The innocent cute band-geek, The Slut/bitch, The Jock, The Nice guy, The Cheerleader, The Parents and The little sister.
The storyline was pretty simple - High School Drama. Amy gets knocked up by the jock Ricky, who doesn't really care, and rather wants to stay with his popular girlfriend Adrian. It's of course a big problem when everyone finds out that Amy is pregnant, and especially because she's starting to have feelings for another boy; Ben - the sweet innocent boy, who's polite and well-raised. Meanwhile popular cheerleader; Grace, who's kinda in love with quarterback guy; Jack, but also in love with bad boy Ricky, promises her great Christian parents that she'll stay clean, won't have sex before marriage basically. Meanwhile Amy's parents are dealing with a lot of personal issues with each other, while they also have to handle their 15 year old daughter who's pregnant..
That's basically what it's about .. or that was my first impression. I watched a couple of episodes, and what really annoyed me was the bad writing. The screenplay/script is so horrible .. and the acting is terrible, which manly is either the director or the actor's fault. And as the show goes on for its 2nd and 3rd season the story just gets twisted up. Amy gets her baby with Ricky, they kinda fell in love with each other, even though she almost married Ben. Then Ricky is also with Grace and Adrian at a time, while Grace is with Jack. And then Amy goes to New York, and you barely see her in five episodes, and everything starts to be about Ashley (littlesister) who starts crushing on Ricky, they kiss, and suddenly Grace has a thing for Ben, who got Adrian pregnant under a one night stand, and he's now going to be a father. And then I saw a promo for an episode here the other night on Television, and Ben was proposing to Adrian??
Dude what the heck!! Is all I can say.. It gets kind of disgusting, that everyone is with everyone. None of them learns from their mistake. This show started out with potential, it had an 'okay' storyline. But they twisted the whole thing up with mixed relationship. It all gets so unrealistic, and suddenly the parents are okay with their teenagers sleeping around with each other .. it's ridiculous.
I don't even get why ABC family wants the show anymore, when they have a show like "Pretty Little Liars" where the script, the story and the actresses are great.
The secret life of an American teenager is totally out according to me. It's a bad influence, and it definitely does not show how teenagers are - not that any teenage show does, but nobody gets pregnant at 15, and especially not at band camp.
I give it 3 stars for 1st season .. the rest is just downhill. Hannah Montana is more realistic ..
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (2010)
Credits to the director, for saving this movie
According to me, all credits should go to David Slade, cause he did a wonderful job with this movie. First of all I would like to say; I don't like Twilight, I used to like the books. I don't like Robert Pattinson or Kristen Stewart. In fact I hate the whole "I-love-Edward-cullen-twilight-is-the-best!" But this movie impressed me. And as much as I would like to say: This movie sucked, then I can't, cause it weren't that bad - and that was because I was opened-minded. Today I think there is a lot of Twilight-haters, believe me, I wish I could be one of them, but I can't, and that's why I'm going to defend Eclipse. Many people was really disappointed with Twilight and New Moon, and as a criticizer you then doom the twilight saga (movies) as bullshit, especially because of the bad acting, bad directing and bad screenplay. And then when you go to the cinema to see Eclipse, and all you can think is: This is going to suck? That's when I ask; why are you here then
Of course it could be a job that you had to do or that kind of thing. But already you say to yourself this is going to be a bad movie, like you expect it through the whole damn movie, and when you fear and expect it so much, I think it actually becomes a bad movie. - Okay sorry for my language, but I have to say this. And then I think that there are also just some people out there who really can't stand twilight, you just hate it, no matter if the movie is great or either. They just review 1-3 stars, cause that's the power they have to rate. They hate everything about this up-blown thing, that no matter what; they will hate twilight, and no matter what it deserve a bad rating. - Which is bullshit. Even if I can't stand Kristen Stewart or I hate Robert Pattinson, then it gives me no right to rate this movie a bad grade because of a personal hate to a celebrity or that kind of stuff. Seriously, then you actually becomes worse the all of the hormone disrupting girls who actually likes Robert Pattinson!
The movie starts out with: Riley being transformed into a vampire, which is a really good scene, and it's very obvious that we have a horror-movie-director behind the screen. Xaiver Samuel does a wonderful job in this movie; he was actually one of the only actors who impressed me with really good acting. As much as I hate it when they change actors or actresses, then it didn't really upset me that Bryce Dallas Howard had replaced Rachelle Lefevre in the role of Victoria. Bryce did a wonderful job, even though it would have been nice to see Rachelle in the last movie with Victoria. Back to Bella and Edward I was so relieved that they could actually "make out" without any hard breathing, moaning, sighs or any kind of annoying breathing trouble. I hated the Twilight and New Moon for having so many breathings. It was annoying to see them kiss while they moaned so much. The triangle- thing also saved this movie. First time when Jacob kisses her and sort of breaks Bella's hand, it's awesome when Edward jumps out of the car and just go crazy on Jacob: "If you ever lay a hand on her!". It's sort of awesome. The Movie is basically about the choice between Edward and Jacob, or that's what we think, but according to Bella it's a choice between who she should be and who she should not be, which I personally liked, since it then weren't all about a wolf and a vampire. Then the movie starts to be about the New Born-Army, we find out that someone is creating an army to attack Forks, because of Bella. That's when I hesitate. Okay, so what if Edward killed James in Twilight - Victoria get over it! All this trouble for just killing Bella. Seriously! But I guess Victoria is deeply revengeful. The movie becomes better and better, cause what I feared the movie would skip happened. Bella learned about Rosalie's story, and why she thinks that Bella should not become a vampire. Rosalie's story is sad, and I wished the movie would have shown more than three backflash-scenes with Rosalie's story. And we also get to learn Jasper's story, which is awesome, not how I imagined, but it was great. And we also got to see backflashes from the Quileute's story, which I actually found boring in the book, but pretty exciting in the movie. Throughout the movie we see several scenes with Riley and his New Born Army that Victoria is really creating. We also get introduced to Bree Tanner. The fight between Vampires, Wolves and New Born finally begins in Forks, and it actually worked out great. There were no slow-motions- scenes which I loved, I hated New Moon for making the fight-scenes in slow-motion, it seemed so unreal. The Cullens and The wolf pack fights against the New borns, while Bella, Edward and Jacob are up in the mountains in a tent. And the last 40 minutes, a lot of things happen. Bella reveals her feelings for Jacob, they share a kiss, sine Jacob threatens to kill himself. Victoria and Riley come to kill Bella and Edward. And of course Riley ends up getting killed by Seth a wolf and Edward kills Victoria. Then The volturi of course come, and Dakota Fanning is really good as Jane, she's silent in a very sadistic way. The movie ends with Bella choosing Edward, which was pretty predictable, and they end up engaged, ready to get married.

Supernatural: Swan Song (2010)
Best show for five years, best 5th final for five years
For every hardcore Supernatural fan. For every lover of Sam and Dean. For every pleasured soul who has enjoyed watching this show since 2005, when all hell broke loose, then you'll love season 5's finale episode.
Eric Kripke, you should be proud of yourself. Cause your writing is the best damn thing, and it works. Robert Singer, your directing in this episode was brilliant. And Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Jim Beaver, Mischa Collins, Mark Pellegrino, Jake Abel and Rob Benedict your acting made us all cry, or made me cry. I feel like thanking, cause this episode was epic.
I'll not spoil anything for those who are reading this, cause you need to watch it with all of your heart. Everything was amazing in this final episode. It was tragic, emotional, exciting, brutal and heart-breaking. That's all I'm going to reveal. I could praise the actors/actress to the skies, and the writers, directors of this show and in this season. This season finale showed how accomplished this show is. The last five years Supernatural have been the most successful show, according to me. But this final episode also showed that it the most original show.
I cried my way through the last 15 minutes; I even had to put on a new layer of makeup.
Somehow it was almost like watching the series final episode. But I'm definitely looking forward to the 6th season.

90210 (2008)
... not that bad
Okay - a review from Scandinavia ..
Okay ... seriously stop complaining! I've read some of these reviews, and some of them has a point, some of them are a joke (according to me), and some of these reviews are actually giving this show a chance.
Okay, so I have to admit, that the 1st season was a bummer. Everything was shiny and new, and so was the actors, the script, in general the whole set. And everyone expected that David, Donna, Kelly, Dylan and the rest of the gang would be back, and they weren't. Instead they were replaced with a bubbly family from Kansas. Basically the same old story. And it was a very cliché-character filled show. Annie, the new innocent kid. Silver, the rebellious girl. Naomi, the emotional bitch. Ethan, the loving jock. Adrianna, the druggie etc. Yeah basically cliché- characters. But the show developed .. even in season 1. Cause the story-line finally changed, so it wasn't so much about trying fit in, in High School. It broke its safety-lines. Silver became diagnosed as a bipolar .. 2 or 3 very interesting episodes. Annie and Ethan broke up, Naomi stopped being a bitch, Adrianna became pregnant, and we got a new character .. Liam, yet another cliché-character. Tough bad-ass guy .. well lets call him Dylan Junior. He surfs, he's hot, he's a daredevil .. well he's a bad-ass. But Liam brought something new into the show .. a new story. And the two last episodes ends with a bang. Girl-fight, birth delivering, Ethan reveals his feelings for Silver, Annie runs over someone with her car, Liam sent away to military-school, and Jen (Naomi's big-sister)is lying like hell.
Well I was actually excited to see what was going to happen when the 2nd season was being released. Would Silver and Ethan end up together. Who did Annie run over? Would Naomi ever get to know the truth about her sister, and what about Liam? I was disappointed from the beginning. Ethan (Dustin Milligan) was no longer a part of the show. Bummer! I had lost my favorite-couple. But Ethan was replaced, with a hot tennis-guy named Teddy. But everything had changed in second season. Annie was depressed after having killed somebody, she was doomed as an outsider by Naomi, even Dixon hated her. Silver, Adrianna and Naomi were like best friends, and Kelly was in love with Harry. Drama, drama, drama. And actually every single episode became better and better. We got introduced into new characters such as: Jasper, the secret manipulating drug-dealer. Ivy, the bad-ass girl, and Gia the curious lesbian. And with these three characters the show became so much better, cause they changed the old characters. Right now Adrianna is a lesbian, Annie's stalking boyfriend jumped off the Hollywood-sign. Naomi is lying about being sexual harassed, Silver is with womanizer Teddy, and Ivy and Dixon are fake-dating. Very interesting.
- This show had potential from the beginning, and that is how it has developed into a great show. Into a show that I compare with One tree hill. A show I'm looking forward to see every Tuesday night. So all I can say, give it a chance. Hate the 1st season, love the 2nd .. cause the 2nd season kick ass. And don't be so judgmental about the acting, some of the actors might play half-hearted, but some of them are playing really nice for example: Jessica Lowndes and Shenae Grimes.
