Louie (2010–2015)

A promising start to quite possibly a great show.

I was watching Rescue Me tonight, and I saw the previews of this show. I didn't know if it was old or new. I later checked on the cable box and saw it was new. I gave it a shot, and I was a bit surprised that there might be another great show on TV.

While I am not going to sit here and say this is the next Seinfeld, it had certain feelings to it, like the stand up comedy part in the start and the end. But "Louie" seems more edgier and more explicit than Seinfeld's method of 'beating around the bush' of what they want to say due to restrictions. The jokes I would say are more like Curb Your Enthusiasm.

I will not try to spoil much for those who haven't seen it, but the show is basically about a middle-aged man who has two children, both girls, and recently split up with his wife. He is a stand up comedian for a living, and while off the job -- he is looking for a rebound for his break up with his wife. His character symbolizes Larry David's to a degree, although I don't see his good will like Larry shows time to time, yet he's still a very sympathetic character and one who is easy to get behind.

I love the comparisons to Seinfeld and CYE, because I think they are both excellent shows, thus I hope this show can use that type of formula but also be able to come up with some innovative and compelling ideas on its own. It's already did its main job with me: making me want to see it again. I am looking forward to see if this show becomes something epic or something that epic fails.

Worth checking out, especially if you're a Seinfeld and/or CYE fan.

Family Guy (1999– )

At first promising, Now Disaster

At first when I saw this show, it was good. But as the show went on, it got less creative, repetitive, and annoyingly random. The show began not to have any flow to it, and have all spots without substance. Too many random flashbacks take away from the whole theme of most shows. The jokes are cheap humor, as they love to make fun of pop-culture. This show is an overall disaster, and people think it is cool because its "edgy" and "controversial"

In retrospect, the show is awful. If you never seen it, don't even try it out. It is a waste of time. There are plenty of better shows out there, so don't waste your time.

Arrested Development (2003–2019)

A Genius Written Show That Never Got a Chance

I heard hype from my friend for this show. I saw one episode on IRS. I thought it was good, but not great. I then started to watch them in chronological order, and as I kept watching - the more and more I loved it. This show is easily *the* best sequentially written show ever. The playoffs from previous episodes, the consistently of the characters, the creative puns, jokes, and the innovative humor makes this the most brilliant sitcom ever.

Sadly, due to Fox and the show being too smart for the average fan - this show didn't last long. But with its short time period, it made a huge impact on educated sitcom fans. No show will ever come close to this for intriguing storytelling, which ended up being their downfall. Ironic, but what people like these days, not surprising.

The Wrestler (2008)

A Compelling, Innovative, and Emotional Film.

As a professional wrestling writer, I thought this video would be a joke, just like Ready To Rumble. Once I saw the preview though, I was looking forward to this film. And the anticipation for the film was defiantly worth the wait. The movie might be a little perplexed in the wrestling oriented parts for a causal or non-wrestling fan, but for the most part, they explain the "inside" terms quite rationally. If you do not get what they mean when they say "work over the arm", well you should stick to generic movies.

The movie was not just about wrestling. It also had a superb, dramatic relationship between Randy and his daughter, and his off-and-on relationship with the stripper.

In the movie, every character is well-defied and well-distinguished in their role; everything fit together in telling the story, nothing came off as filler; and the movie did ABOVE my expectation in showing how grueling and tough it can be to be in a "fake" sport.

Aside from their could have been a tad more "wrestling" parts in the movie, it was a flawless movie for sure.

Defiantly, an amazing movie for any "smart" wrestling fan, and even a great movie for a person whom does not understand wrestling or doesn't like it.

Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003)

A Good Japanese Kung FU Movie Prestented in American Literature

Kill Bill is another prime example of Tarantino's creative writing. Sure, parts are a little contrived-looking and far-fetched, but with that aside, this is one action thriller. The plot is straightforward, but the action, delivery, and the vintage Tarantino's writing, with things out of place, makes up for the basic plot.If you like kung-fu movies, with a spice of creative action scenes, this movie is certainly for you. In addition to that, the movie also sets up the next Kill Bill, and it does not give you everything at once. In result, you can see this - and want to watch the next one, and you won't get repetitive stuff in the 2nd one since the first one have purposely missing holes in the story. Great writing, great acting, and great action...
