The Mistress (2022)
Can't get on with this film
Iv really tried to get into this award winning film yet my word it's drawn out cliche after cliche , the main protagonist seems to have women literally dying to be with him & he's not that appealing
The sexism is moronic, a gorgeous neighbour throwing herself at the men in the house .
He has a Beautiful intelligent wife on top of it all is it meant to be that he is this irresistible man of the year because I can't see it is it also trying to say is it is his imagination beyond reality it's just really dull I've tried it again and this is the second trying viewing and sorry I hate to give up on films but not for me.
Twenty Thousand Streets Under the Sky (2005)
Good departure from the book
Initially I thought it was incredible, yet after reading the book again & listened to the radio adaptation, I feel it's a departure from how I interpreted it
Bob is far too young & meek , in the book he's more confident. Ella also has a stronger nature than in this .
Ernest Eccles is more caricature is funnier and gentler than depicted in the series. I feel Phil Daniels comes across a bit sharp and it's just more bumbling irritating than harsh. He's got the concept of unrequited love well covered it's beautiful in its own concept. Yeah I do prefer the book and particular the radio adaptation is the best I think that's a good viewing on its own merits.
Requiem (2006)
Realism rather than jump scares
If you're looking for the constructed exorcism film, this isn't for you it's much more in-depth than that it's to do with the actual reality of a human being a real person that was incredibly bright, compassionate, religious, caring, thoughtful, intellectual, and had a lot of future. It's about the conflict, conflicting viewpoints of science and theology yet it covers beautifully filmed, wonderfully acted wonderful Misan seeing wonderful cinematography I could barely think I was watching actors. I was so realistic it really. Amazing build up to her incredible life story. She was a real woman. She was in her early 20s and had a very overprotective family in real life. She was very dogmatically villages, and it's much more to do with the concept of who she is as a woman and the medication that she was taking and she was purely suffering from epilepsy severe epileptic seizures this with conflicting issues of religious viewpoints, but it's beautifully conceptualised. I highly recommend it but if you're looking for jump scares it's not for you if you're looking for something a bit more highbrow, it is.
