Where the Boys Aren't 14 (2001)
The "Arizona Phoenix" has risen from the ashes!
She is back! Jenna is back!
Thank God she still has the right touch! After I saw Briana loves Jenna I really believed that it was all over with the Queen of porn.
Thank God I was mistaken and this adventure of hers was just a slight mistake. Take this new movie: Where the boys aren't 14. I know that there are many men and women who don't watch girl/girl movies as they prefer "the real thing!". Well. . .even without boys this movie will drive most men / women wild.
Jenna is back! Completely back! Hot as ever (before), nasty, wet and longing for sex with other beautiful girls. The story is very simple. A video-camera pans around a lesbian bar and films women having sex. Story? None! Does that bother me? Absolutely not as this is first grade sex! Tongues and fingers explore every opening . . . yes every opening! The girls have sex in multiple variations and their main tools are their lips, hands, fingers and tongues. There are a few toys too but you will hardly pay attention to them.
I am very positive about the film. I am however very unsatisfied with the technical quality of the transfer from tape to DVD. The picture is far from clear and shows numerous mistakes (digital spots). You should not watch the movie with the zoom-tools on your dvd as the images are really bad. Instead of a nice and clean picture you will see a kind of chessboard of colours. The sound is very good (good stereo) but there are a few mistakes here too. Fading stereo in a few scenes (only two or three seconds long but nevertheless a mistake made during transfer and the process of editing!) We checked the DVD. . .it was "not a bad burn".
Another thing I really disliked was this one annoying artistic trick with a stroboscope light. (There are no other artistic tricks in this movie!) Just good filmed sex. This strobe-light should have been less bright, intense and less frequent as it really blinded the eyes. (when watching at night)
The film gets an "A"! JENNA AN "A+" FOR HER AWESOME PERFORMANCE, the director an "A" and the editor a "B+". . .the DVD from a technical standpoint however and only because of the bad transfer (Vivids main problem since years!) a "C-".
The interactive menu (lay-out) is one of the best I have seen and the DVD offers you many interesting extra features. More than any other Vivid DVD sofar. Want multiple angle? Good . . .just select it or watch the movie without: It's all up to you! Previews? Hell yes! 90 minutes of COMPLETE sex-scenes and two of these are with JENNA!!!
Worth to have! I am glad I have one! Please Vivid? Can we have more of these?
Of whom they say: Spetz?
That's a Jenna hater! ????? Critic? yes! Hater? NO! ????
Briana Loves Jenna (2001)
my negative personal view on Briana loves Jenna
My opinion is very clear but not shared by many!
This film is everything but erotic and the overkill on editing made it look like an MTV video clip instead of what it should have been: a porno. The cast, including Jenna, acted totally uninspired. The sex, boring without intensity, looked staged and at times unreal. I like to watch sex that expresses something like passion but here I watched people having sex for money. This was not f***ing on the job, but f***ing as a job. There was a lack of enthusiasm I seldom witnessed in a porno and grounded in porno as I am as I have seen a few thousand films in 17 years, this really shocked me. From Jenna and her crew I expected something extraordinary beautiful but instead I watched the opposite. Most negative things about this production are the constant interruptions, caused by the numerous cuts and film-tricks and the really terrible lighting (too dim / too bright). It distracted my attention from the sex and that is something which only happens to me if the sex is not hot enough.
Or in this particular case: Mr Willy didn't move an inch!
The many experiments spoiled my appetite. What could have been a first class porno turned out to be a boring film with an unmotivated cast. This film is no masterpiece and therefore it deserves no high marks. This feature is what I would call a very cheap copy of an Andrew Blake production. Andrew Blake however knows to combine sex, art and editing, in a way Jenna, Sterling and their team have to learn.
Performing a porno is totally different from directing and editing one. Fortunately more people (also editors at major studios) shared my thoughts and therefore there must be some truth in what I write.
With the reputation of Justin Sterling, the raw video materials must have been good, there's no doubt about that but due to the artistic minds/ideas of both editors: Jenna Jameson and her finance Mr Sterling, the real attention was not paid to the sex (as it should have been) but they did focus everything on the cast and the settings.
This film is the first of a series and in my view the experiment already failed. Some people only like the movie as it shows them Jenna after having been away for two years. As a film critic I only look at the end result and not at the cast. Despite of being a fan, the film could not convince me and is in my view the third worst production she made. (Phantasm, because of the sex and Wicked Weapon as it is also shows an overkill on editing).
I voted this film with 1 for one reason only: it has absolutely nothing which excites me. As a Jenna fan (since 1993) I feel disappointed about this production and hope that the next in these series are much much better.
Some people may see this negative review as an attack but I only wrote about what I felt watching this movie: disappointment and no excitement.
Yours truly,
