Night of Dark Shadows (1971)
Better explaination of the plot, opinion about the movie
Actress Lara Parker plays "Angelique," a witch, in 'NoDS' - although NOT the same witch "Angelique" as she played in the regular series.
In 'NoDS' she is a 19th Century ( in the 1800s ) witch who was married to "Gabriel Collins" ( Christopher Pennock, ) but was having a torrid love affair with "Gabriel's" older brother, the amoral painter "Charles Collins" ( David Selby, in a duel role. ) Grayson Hall, who had played "Dr. Hoffman" in 'HoDS,' plays HOUSEKEEPER "Carlotta Drake" here. Both 'Carlotta;" and "Quentin Collins" ( also played by David Selby, ) who is also a painter; have psychic abilities, allowing them to see things that happened in the past.
The one really good scene in the movie was when "Carlotta" explains to "Quentin" that his weird dreams and visions are because they are both reincarnations of past Collins servants/family members - "Carlotta" of "Sarah Castle," who was the young daughter of the early 1800's housekeeper; and "Quentin," who is a reincarnation of "Charles Collins."
'NoDS' needs to be given a chance, and watched more than one time, to pick up on the nuances. It's NOT a bad film. It just got cut at the last minute by producer/director Dan Curtis, at the behest of MGM. Unfortunately the result was a hard-to-follow-if-you-only-watch-it-once mess.
Mannequin: On the Move (1991)
Worth a watch, but ONLY one time
O.K. I really wanted to like this movie. But this was NOT nearly as good as the original 'Mannequin' ( 1987. ) This was a lame sequel. Only things of interest were: Meshach Taylor reprising his role as Hollywood; and Andrew Hill Newman reprising ( sort of ) his previous role in the original { except - in the original he was the nerdy janitor at the end ( listed in the credits only as - "Compactor Room Janitor," ) in this one he was the nerdy security guard ( listed in the credits as "Andy Ackerman" ) who was constantly, unsuccessfully ( up to almost the end of the movie ) trying to attract the attention of the perfume department lady ; } and the reprise use of "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" by Starship ( formerly Jefferson Starship, formerly Jefferson Airplane ) over the end titles.. Worth watching ONLY once, ONLY because it IS a sequel to 'Mannequin.'
