The Last Kiss (2006)
7/10
Entertaining and surprising
7 September 2006
I found myself actually enjoying this movie very much. Without giving anything away, it deals with the story of four male friends and how their relationships with women have evolved. They are all in their late 20's about to hit 30 and the reality of behaving and acting like an adult suddenly sets in.

I liked the movie very much because I saw myself in the main character and how I used to be when I was his age. Entertaining! The ending was actually surprising--the movie dealt with how both men and women react when they are hurt by the ones we love.

Go see it! Two thumbs up!

Elizabethtown (2005)

What kind of love story is THIS???

Warning: Spoilers
Cameron, what were you thinking? Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Cameron Crowe fan and have enjoyed most of his movies. However, he fails to deliver on this.

MINOR SPOILER**** It's a heartwarming story about a father whom his hometown Elizabethtown knew and loved very much; however, there were two many subplots that detracted way too much. What was the deal with the whole shoe fiasco? It was totally distracting. Also, is this movie a love story about a son/father or is it something else? It was confusing.

In addition, Kirsten Dunst delivered a very weak performance, which I believe affected Orlando Bloom's performance as well.

Cameron, you were so close on this one. I believe if you had cast someone else beside Kirsten, the story may have worked.

Million Dollar Murder (2005 TV Movie)
8/10
Excellent throughout!

Warning: Spoilers
WOW! The girl from "Without A Trace" did an awesome job! She is an excellent actress. The movie was well done. Unfortunately, a 2-hour TV movie has to move fast and I wish this movie had really been a 4-hour miniseries so that the story could have been expanded.

****SPOILER**** I give it an 8/10. The use of the different characters, such as Ted Ammon's sister, his coworker, the boyfriend's ex-wife, telling the story was extremely powerful as it showed how the people connected to the story saw their relationship, marriage and eventual breakup/murder.

My only complaint was that although we know that the new boyfriend/husband killed Ted Ammon, we did not get to see how it "happened" nor did we get to feel any of the emotions that a high-profile trial like this usually brings.
