Fallout (2024)
Die hard fan of the game series
Don't listen to the fanboy gatekeepers. This show wasn't perfect but it was awesome, and i expected far worse.
Anybody with a brain knows it takes more than 1-2 episodes to have character development. Main character was likable, without being overpowered. Her luck stats were just high.
She wasn't a Mary sue. She was the main character, the "player character." She starts off in basically a brainwashing cult, of course she's going to be naive. She grows and becomes more real. And remember it's only the first season, it takes time for people to change and break old habits.
And god forbid a female actually have a sexual side without being criticized for it. I don't think it was necessary, but it was hardly interfering with the plot. I wasn't a fan of the romance aspect. But that's fine.
That being said, max was awful. I kept rooting for him to die. I don't want redemption. They started his characters development far too late, and he's a psychopath.
And of course everybody's favorite, Cooper. I could watch a whole show that just follows him around. He was such a fun morally gray character who was an over the top badass in the best ways. And I can't wait to see what they have in store for him. Give me the 200 years of backstory in a spinoff please.
Lots of fun little Easter eggs and nods to the show, and actually having Matt berry show up was amazing.
Hazbin Hotel (2019)
Decent show, awful creator
I followed this well before they had any animation. I was in love with the characters and the actors who played them. I was at every hunnicast stream, I bought merch to show support and did everything I could to help.
I wanted to like it. I really really did, I tried so hard. But I feel.. disappointed? It feels soulless. Like it was rush and slapped together. It's not bad but it's not great.
-Some of the songs are incredible, some are bland.
-The animation and vibrant colors are beautiful. And despite preferring the original voices, the new ones did great!
-Yes it's vulgar, but you should already know this going into it. Think south park humor. It's fine
However!
There are so many hypocrites and liars involved with this show it's a miracle they actually got it to air, but they have threatened their way to the top apparently.
I tried putting aside the fact Alastor is a stolen character. The true creator is too scared to come forward again because Viv's fans are rabid psychopaths who dox and threaten anybody they don't like; they tried it once already. It REALLY bothers me. Mickles existed long before all of this.
The creator ended up having to delete their socials and move because they were getting death threats and people showing up at their house; and Viv should take responsibility for that and control her child audience. People will excuse every bad thing she has ever done for some reason. They think she's god.
Edit: I've been receiving death threats for over leaving a review like this. Which just enforces my point. Some of you really need to grow up.
Elemental (2023)
I don't understand all the negativity
I went into this very skeptical from everything I've heard, and while it's nothing revolutionary, it didn't need to be.
It was a cute movie, I enjoyed the overall story and the way the handed the message of the movie. The characters were fun and cute, the music was great and fit the movie well, and it's visually stunning.
I think lots of adults forget these movies are made for kids with the understanding that adults will be watching them too, but it's not made for adults.
I enjoyed it and would be happy to watch this again. There was something nostalgic and comforting about it I can't quite put my finger on.
Strange World (2022)
Mundane and unimaginative
This felt like it had potential, a good movie about a man having to confront childhood trauma and abandonment issues.
It became to predictable and lackluster. It also feels like they tried to take a secondary story and forcefully mash it together in a desperate attempt to make sense. Which ended up making the whole movie feel soulless, clunky, and honestly unmemorable.
Ethan is annoying I found myself hoping he would get eaten and it felt like his awful behavior was rewarded. What a great message for kids. He also felt like an after thought. The only purpose he served was to put everybody's life in danger. They would've been better off without him. Merchandise-able side kick was a morph rip off and about as annoying as Ethan.
The only reason I'm giving it a 3 star is because the animation was actually pretty good. I really enjoyed looking at the background and scenery overall.
Hunter Hunter (2020)
Frustratingly predictable and lazy writing
Up until a certain point it was painfully slow paced and boring. Nothing makes a whole lot of sense, and they try to use shock factor of him killing the daughter to emit some sort of emotion out of you. The best thing about the movie was the music at the end. I regret not quitting while I was ahead.
