Barbie (2023)
A smart look at an important problem? Well...no
I had high hopes for this movie. The director of "Barbie" is, in my opinion, a pretty high caliber filmmaker. I hoped that she would be able to make the movie both beautiful and funny from the visual point of view, and at the same time be able to give the movie a subtle, deep meaning. And the movie succeeded in the former. It's funny, it's witty, it's beautiful!
As for the meaning behind the work, there are already hints in the first half of the movie that Gerwig wanted to and could subtly comment on the social structure of the modern world. That the film would criticize and at the same time reveal all sides of the problem. True, life is an ambiguous thing, there is neither pure good nor absolute evil..... Oh, where am I going with this? This movie is not worth the effort. In the second half, the movie turns into a primitive agitation with a simple idea of "men are bad, and all women are oppressed, so girl, get up, we'll show them all".... Okay, actually, if there is a large audience of people who want to hear such thoughts. If there are those who care (and they do) - then such a work has a right to exist. But. The thing is that in the end we have a fanfic praising some people and belittling others, a work for a specific audience. And, on the one hand, it's great, it's wonderful that there's something that brings someone joy. But for me, on the other hand, it is absolutely useless, uninteresting to watch such a movie that ridicules men and belittles them. It's... wrong. I expected to see a smarter, deeper work, a meta-view of all sides of the issue. But apparently, modern audiences won't be able to understand such a product, they need to be shown something simple. Alas.
Vyzov (2023)
Amazing, its real
This is the first film of its kind. It's very interesting and incredible. Everything feels very real and true (because this is reality). I envy the actors who were able to fly into space, realized their dream.
The actors play very well. The main character is pretty. The astronauts themselves are also real, of course, they don't play very well, but they tried.
I was surprised that, probably, some scenes of the film were shot in outer space, the director and the actress were allowed to go into space, it's amazing.
The film itself is probably not the best from an artistic point of view. But the film is unique, to support it appreciated positively.
The Last of Us: When We Are in Need (2023)
It's a Category B series, but the crowd is pleased
Seriously, 10/10? What's wrong with you people!? Wake up, hello! In the game, this episode was perfectly done, everything is logical, and the climax in a burning building was beautiful ... in the game. In the game, Joel finds Ellie and pulls her away from the weapon...The motivation of the characters was clearly shown. Meanwhile, the authors repeatedly throw out the best moments of the game from the series, but at the same time copy unnecessary phrases for the sake of fan service, although it is obvious to all viewers that the showrunners show us a completely different story! Where are the infected, where are the clickers? If you're doing a series about Love, why do you even need this franchise "One of Us"? We would do something else, or something like movie "the road".
The series itself is very crumpled, aggressive editing, much remains behind the scenes. A lot of plot holes, understatements. Technical defect, computer graphics are visible! If the creators of the series did not have enough timing, then why was it necessary to spend this timing on the side stories in the third and seventh series? You sacrifice the whole two series, which are knocked out of the narrative, which do not contribute almost anything important to the story, while also sacrificing important storylines, showing them in a stripped-down way. Also, the series is full of cinema mistakes, for example, Ellie comes out of a burning building, and there is almost no blood on her, and the building behind her is not burning.
The Last of Us: Long, Long Time (2023)
not what I was expecting
(First of all, it's my second review. Why? Because the moderators rejected it, banned it without explanation, although the text was written correctly, without insults and obscene vocabulary. That's how the opinion is formed according to the policy. Is this called the great Western freedom of speech? I'll call it censorship. Let's see if they censor this message, or at least if they can explain the reasons for the rejection)
Review, I edited it:
Strange feelings... not what I was expecting. On the one hand, there is a strong drama and good moments. On the other hand, there are Bella Ramsay, her acting skills are good, but... this is not Ellie, both in appearance and in character. It's hard for me to look at her. Miskast, the weakest side of the series.
Add to this a complete lack of action and a change in story. As a result, we got a fan fiction about two lovers, we don't really see the post-apocalypse world, only a pastoral, the beautiful love story. It's interesting, but feels like side story and filler.
The Last of Us: Please Hold to My Hand (2023)
Boring and again - Ellie monsterface
First of all, about the episode- it's ok, just the exposition of the 5th episode.
Second...
My God, I just can't... Bella tries very hard to show her acting skills, and she succeeds ... but, first of all, this character is not Ellie from the game. That Ellie was cheeky, but sweet at the same time. This is the point, the combination of a rebellious character and external vulnerability worked perfectly. But Ellie, played by Bella, is just a bully, stupid, rude, that's a completely different character. And secondly, you are finished off by her face in the best traditions of Benedict Cumberbatch, but much worse ... it is impossible to look without pain...
Barbarian (2022)
just a dummy
Are you serious? The best horror of 2022? It's not even close. It's been a long time since I've watched such second-rate, pretentious films. This is a dummy, ridiculous, stupid and superficial. They throw dust in the eyes in the form of various important social topics. But I do not see sincerity and depth in the disclosure of these topics. They serve only as a bait and a distraction, a tribute to fashion, trends. And you can get carried away, distracted by an interesting wrapper, you can get carried away by the narrative. Indeed, the film was shot well, if we talk about the technical side. There are several interesting plot moves. But overall it's a very very weak film, it's really bad. There is nothing significant, nothing talented behind the exploitation of important topics.
The Rookie (2018)
This show seems like a dirty cop: he was promising in the beginning, but then betrayed for sake of money...
I fell in love with the series from the first episode, I liked the main idea of how an aged person changes his life and profession. I think, season 1 is excellent, a balance between comedy and drama looks interesting. The second season is a little weaker, but still good. And then I saw the third, 4th season...Oh, boy. It's great when ideas about freedom, respect, freedom of speech are promoted in a cinema. But It's just a pity that in modern Western society and in modern cinema we do not see this, we see the propaganda of distorted, substituted concepts. The authors simply adjusted to modern fashion, just tried to please trends. We all hear the howls of different movements about equality, but the truth is that this is hypocrisy, because as soon as these communities get to the mouthpiece, they themselves begin to breed inequality, try to humiliate the opposite side, elevate themselves. It's pathetic. The picture of the world that the series paints is so sickly artificial, fake. I would be glad to see the script, where men and women are equal in their opportunities and rights, despite the fact that they are different in nature, each with its own strengths and weaknesses, and that is great, diversity is great. But instead of the ideas that men and women are worth each other, that they need each other, instead of the ideas of goodness, the authors impose on us the idea that it is normal to humiliate and hate someone who is not like you. Just very veiled. For example, that a woman is better in everything, and a man is pathetic and insignificant. And they poke you with it in every episode, but if you're smart enough, you can't help but notice it. Yes, women are great, just like men, just like any healthy person. But the way the series tries to impose its distorted picture of the world is disrespectful to the viewer. I'm sorry that a good series has gone bad. The problem is not in the topic being raised, but in HOW it is done, clumsily, disrespectful.
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
Good Indian movie with forth and lightsabers
So. The ninth episode. Was I waiting for him? Waited very strongly. Am I happy after watching? Well...my head exploded and my heart is broken. And when I see an 88% viewership rating on rottentomaters, I know there's no way to fix these fans. They just want to see familiar elements. They're like the Ewoks. Or Gungans. Or Porgy. But I'm a fan too! What's wrong with me? Why did my eyes bleed when I watched that movie? Maybe it's common sense that live in me? Maybe I don't love this universe enough to easily turn a blind eye to all the nonsense that they are trying to sell me under the guise of that very far galaxy? Maybe. But the facts are that the new film is a ridiculous, convulsive attempt to fix all the wrongs committed by Disney's mouse gang. That film is not FANTASTIC. That film is ABSURD. The film has good moments, and visually everything is very beautiful. The general direction of the plot is quite acceptable. But if the storyline was developed within 3 films, harmoniously, logically, it would be at least good. So, what we have in the end? We have SALAD, wildly shredded events that happen just like that, because it looks spectacular fo fans! Frenzied montage, flashes and flashes, the absence of any logic. It's VULGAR, it's MANIPULATING the feelings of the fans. And the most offensive thing is not even that. The most offensive - to see the joyful reviews of people about this part of Star Wars. I'm glad people from my country didn't let themselves be fooled. Our fans are extremely disappointed, and we have a rating of 6.1. But viewers from other countries write exited reviews. How so? How can you praise THAT, after humiliating the prequel trilogy, although after the Disney trilogy, yes even without It, "The Phantom Menace", "Attack of the Clones" and "Revenge of the Sith" are good movies, this is a logical, literate expansion of the universe from the Creator of this universe. In General, the world is unfair.
The Mandalorian (2019)
So this is how real Star Wars dies...with thunderous applause
The main thought that comes to my mind when watching this show: wtf? I'm sorry, it may have been rude, but...then I look at the ratings of film critics and the ratings of sites like this: double wtf? PEOPLE, ARE YOU CRAZY? In my memory, this is the most overrated product ever. Honestly, I'm not going to hurt or humiliate anyone right now, no, but my fan feelings are seriously hurt. I don't understand why everybody drool over this show.
You know, there is a saying: In the kingdom of the blind the one-eyed man is king. I think, after being disappointed in the recent SW movies, people are glad to have something that reminds them of that real SW feeling. I think fans see familiar symbols and shout: "oh my God, it's 10 out of 10!!11!" In my opinion, this is an indicator of incompetence both in the understanding of cinema and in the understanding of SW universe.
I'm not demonizing a Mandolorian, IT'S NOT BAD SHOW FOR KIDS! But it is a shame to evaluate it so hight. When in the top next to the outstanding works of cinema it turns out THIS, it becomes uneasy for me. Mandalorian not even a real movie. It's just a bunch of fan content with primitive characters and dialogue, it's no sane storyline, poor graphics and expressionless acting. It's just a collection of objects everyone loves, but it's not a valuable work of art. Here is another brazen way to make money. And Disney succeed in it. But why would I look at someone just making money by offering me something so primitive? No, i wouldn't.
