The 77th Annual Academy Awards (2005 TV Special)
OK show
18 August 2006
1.Beyonce singing every nominated song was a bit irritating but then again you would be to if you had a voice like that...But her french was horrible"take some french lessons girl" 2.It was nice to see some DIVERSITY in the nominations believe race does matter in the academy.therefore it was great to see Jamie Foxx & Morgan Freeman walk away with the statues 3.It was high time the ever so great underrated Morgan Freeman get recognition and the brilliant Cate Blanchett as well 4.The lowest point was Hilary winning the best actress award, don't get me wrong she was great in the role but did she need a second Oscar especially for this role Imelda & Annette were way better in their performance than she is.Never had a false win made more angry than Nicole kidmans"The Hours" win over Julianne Moore"Far from Heaven" two years ago. 5.Chris rock rocked though

The 74th Annual Academy Awards (2002 TV Special)

landmark award show
15 August 2006
TO all of yall who think 1.This was a boring telecast 2.Halle berry and denzel Washington did not deserve their Oscars

SHUT THE F**k UP!! This was one of the best Academy awards show because 1.It was a moment in history to have a black yes "Black actress" win an academy award for Best actress so many of our black sisters have been ignored by the academy for many years. To be honest I had stop watching the academy awards because of a lack of diversity in either the winners or nominees. To me it was nothing but a bunch of white people patting each other in the back.the academy had many chances to vote black actresses that were brilliant in movies eg Alfre Woodard,Whoopi Goldberg,Diana Ross,Mary jean Babtise, but it did not 2.Halle berry deserved that Oscar no competition the academy was under pressure to vote for her so long have deserving actresses been ignored by the academy the majority of which is comprised of white voters yeah yeah Nicole kidman sang very prettily in muling rouge!but it was time black people were accommodated in these awards shows. As for Mr Washington the academy owed him big time after that unfair loss for MalcomX.To all of you who think race is not an issue"probably white people"in the movie industry, well it is many of the most talented black actresses around have either been reduced to stereo typical made by white people roles of what they think is a black women or are not existence"Angela basset". I do not expect many of the white people to understand any of this because they never had to deal with any of it.Come to think of it they are the one who been inflicting it

Hotel Rwanda (2004)
moving film
13 June 2006
This is a moving film about Paul russebagina a hotel manager in Rwanda who took more than a thousand Tutsi refugees during their struggle against the Hutu milita in the Rwandan gene side the sad thing about this real life story's that it went completely unnoticed and ignored by the western world 1.THE STORY:this not an original screenplay thus the story is very real in every sense of the word, because of that is even more moving and sad 2. THE PERFORMANCES :this is Don Cheadle movie it depends so much on his ability to carry it and he does not disappoint.the role is demanding and he pulled it of with great ease he has a great support from Sophie okonedo who is also very moving shes obviously talented and i would like to see her in more productions 3PRODUCTION this was a south African co production thus the great south African presence

Brilliant!
13 June 2006
WOW!best picture of 2004 at the academy awards what can i say.Clint Eastwood directs this brilliant movie,I never thought much of him as an actor but as a director hes becoming a fascinating venture. 1.THE STORY flawlessly written. is about a young trailer trash park women with a Will to succeed in the boxing ring.she finds a helper/trainer with his own demons to deal with and together they find comfort. If you are expecting a girl rocky give up now cause you will be disappointed.this movie is not for people who think die hard was the best movie ever it is a thoughtful character study. 2.THE Performances Hilary swank is good as Maggie she is so natural you don't feel shes even acting.Morgan as always does not disappoint that Oscar was long overdue and clintwood is also good as Frankie Dunn the wrinkled old boxer. But truth be told Hilary did not need another Oscar especially for this role though shes good the role is not much demanding as the other nominees in that year she won for this role but she made audiences cry and feel for her character and swayed many votes her way"Imelda Stanton" was robbed for Vera drake.Morgan on the other had has had better performances in his career but regardless of other nominees that Oscar was long overdue

Tsotsi (2005)

good south African movie
13 June 2006
I am south African and feel so proud about tsotsi.I is locally produced with an all south African cast and director. That being said the movie is not outstanding, sure an academy award nomination was worthy but a win!the story is packed with clichés that will make you roll you eyes till they hurt. But kudos to south Africa for bringing a picture that can stand against other masterpieces in the world 'cough"paradise now".The acting is world class Presley the lead did a great job and the other south African cast was good as well except for Zola"a gangster playing a gangster what a stretch ".enough venting the story is about a hard hearted gangster who after hijacking a car fins a baby in the back seat.he falls in love with the baby and later finds a young widow whose husband was killed by thugs to care for him.in the process he learns about himself and other life lessons. Honesty the film is heartbreaking and if you do not cry you do not have a soul>I had A lump in my throat throughout.Great film

great performances
12 June 2006
I am south African and my god never thought i our home girl was particularly a good actress till i saw this film WOW!shes damm good.It is not only the prosthetics that make you believe shes this woman she portrays but the gestures, voice, movements she really nailed the mimicry.Jenkins also did a great job giving a sympathetic view of an otherwise unlikeable character.Aileen life is sad not meaning that justifies killing all those men but she really did suffer and her situation in the end is even more sadder.and Christina Ricci is also particularly good but received no recondition for her portrayal of the naive Shelby

great acting

Warning: Spoilers
All of yo all who still think miss berry is not a great actress hell see this film she gives a stunning performance and Jessica Lange as you would expect is wonderful its about a black woman who leaves her son in a garbage bin one day while she was high. The child ens up with a white woman and family after some years she finds her son and rest is..well courtroom drama THE story is a bit unbelievable but the acting is what makes it so inganging and oh Samuel L Jackson is also in the movie,it is all heartbreaking at times. But it remains objective not favouring either parties but showing both their views and points which is why you can't choose who has a better point
