Amazing Stories (1985–1987)
The One I Remember....
28 February 2001
The epsiode I remember from this show is probably the one that everyone who watched rememebers most. This one is "Go to The Head of the Class." I was probably 10 or 11 when I first saw it and enjoyed watching it with my older brother and sister. It is packed with moments that make you jump. Now that I am older, I enjoy when it comes on TV and still jump at the shocks. Christopher Lloyd is brilliant as the cruel teacher. The way he says Mr. Braaaand and Miss Simpson will always be a standout. The kids do well also. The music by Alan Silvestri is fantastic and chilling. This is a scary episode, but a lot of fun! So don't lose your head and catch it next time it comes on cable.

Anything but Ordinary--EXTRAORDINARY!!!
25 April 2000
This film in one word is incredible. I was born the year that this film won best picture in (1980) and after twenty years it still maintains its magnificence.

Mary Tyler Moore, Donald Sutherland, and Timothy Hutton are wonderful as three family members who begin coping with the loss of Hutton's older brother long into the aftermath. Judd Hirsch is also sensational as Hutton's doctor.

Moore plays the cold, unfeeling mother with acute accuracy and heartbreaking realism. Hutton is a standout in this ensemble cast. At the ripe age of 20 he won the best supporting actor Oscar. Hirsch was also nominated in the same category. Hutton is extremely believable. He plays his vulnerable role with realistic simplicity, never overacting for Oscar.

Redford must also be commended. He proved he is not only a great actor, but also a great director as well. The use of Pachelbel's Canon in D provides a perfect tone for the film.

This film lead to other great motion pictures on the subject of the dysfunctional family, The Ice Storm and American Beauty to name a couple.

This film is timeless and a must see for all movie fans.

The Ice Storm (1997)

Brilliant and Powerful Film
15 December 1999
The Ice Storm is one of the best films to ever deal with the dynamics among the members of the dysfunctional family. Christina Ricci, Joan Allen, Tobey Maguire, well pretty much everyone is Oscar-worthy in this film. The direction by Ang Lee is perfect and the cinematography beautiful. American Beauty is getting a lot of the praise this film first deserved. Critics loved it, but it did not have a big advertising budget and thus did not reach many audiences. If you have not rented this, do so. You will not be disappointed!

Before Star Wars There was "Graffiti"

George Lucas is definitely a high-ranking director like Spielberg and Scorcese. This film is a gem. It will make you laugh, cry, and feel great. The film deserves its rank on the top 100 films and the academy showed its unbiased behavior by granting it as a best picture nominee. I think the nostalgia and mythical pop culture are very much intact and the performances are astounding. I especially enjoyed Mkenzie Phillips and Paul Lemat who deserved best supporting Oscar nominations alongside Candy Clark. Ron Howard, Cindy Williams, and Richard Dreyfeuss deserved best actor/actress nominations. A wonderful story with a wonderful soundtrack. Buy the movie and the music!!!

Not a satisfying Film
24 March 1999
It is sad when bad films have good qualities because it makes you want to enjoy the film even though it is bad. So is the case with this lackluster film. A Summer Place has a horrible script, but the acting and popular theme score make the film likable, but not lovable.....If you are looking for a good film that deals with the torment of unrequited teenage love or those intersting 50's-60's young love themes rent SPLENDOR IN THE GRASS or REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE. And just buy the soundtrack to this one.
