Storyline
Did you know
- TriviaThe officer testifies he is from the 27th precinct. There is no 27th precinct in the NYPD, but that precinct was where the detectives on Law & Order (1990) (also an NBC series) worked for 20 seasons.
- GoofsThe officer testifies Reddigton's gun was a bulge at his waistline, and it is revealed it was in a holster in the small of his back. A gun carried in that manner would not create a bulge under a suit jacket. The only time it would be visible would be if the person bent forward, which Reddington did not do.
- Quotes
Raymond 'Red' Reddington: That radio run... According to your arrest report, it was based on an anonymous tip.
Officer Baldwin: That's correct.
Raymond 'Red' Reddington: So someone called 911 and said that a white man in his 50s wearing a suit and a hat was in the vicinity of the Red Brau Tavern and that man had a gun.
Officer Baldwin: Yes.
Raymond 'Red' Reddington: And this tip came from someone you never spoke to, someone who also refused to give his or her name to the police operator.
Officer Baldwin: Yes.
Raymond 'Red' Reddington: Completely anonymous, not a trusted source known to have been reliable in the past.
Officer Baldwin: That's true, but I didn't arrest you based only on the tip. I conducted my own investigation.
Raymond 'Red' Reddington: What investigation was that?
Officer Baldwin: I asked for identification.
Raymond 'Red' Reddington: Which I provided immediately.
Officer Baldwin: A false ID.
Raymond 'Red' Reddington: No, you didn't know that at the time. That license was created by the preeminent document forger in the world. Not in this country. On the planet. There's not a chance you could have known it was a fake.
Officer Baldwin: You looked nervous. Furtive.
Raymond 'Red' Reddington: Officer Baldwin, I've been evading the police and law enforcement for almost 30 years. I'm the most wanted man in the world. At the time of our encounter, I was armed with a Browning 9-millimeter semi-automatic with a round in the chamber and the hammer cocked. Do you really expect this court to believe that a marshmallow disguised as a patrol officer, a comic figure in an ill-fitting uniform, could possibly make me nervous?
AUSA Michael Sima: Objection!
Judge Roberta Wilkins: Sustained.
Officer Baldwin: You think this is funny? You're a real smart guy, huh? Well, we'll see how smart you are! There he is. There's the real Officer Baldwin.
Raymond 'Red' Reddington: You didn't search me for looking nervous. The truth is I was disrespectful.
Officer Baldwin: No.
Raymond 'Red' Reddington: I was disrespectful, you got angry, and you decided right then and there to show me you were in charge.
Officer Baldwin: That's not true.
Raymond 'Red' Reddington: I was a wise ass. You said as much to your fellow officers at the scene. Tell you what... I'll apologize for my behavior if you apologize for the illegal pat-down that has exposed me to the death penalty. No? Think about it.

As ever, Spader's scenes were great, and kudos to the woman playing the judge too.
Navabi's story arc is a good one, how awful for a woman of her intellect to struggle with a brain injury.
