Written by Michael Nilon and directed by Benjamin Brewer, this terrifying post-apocalyptic horror thriller premiered at South by Southwest this past March. It stars Nicolas Cage, Jaeden Martell, Maxwell Jenkins and Sadie Soverall.
In a near future where earth has been decimated by an undisclosed catastrophe, Paul (Cage) barely escapes alive from the city alongside his infant twin boys. Years later, Paul and his teenage sons Joseph (Martell) and Thomas (Jenkins) are living in a remote farmhouse miles away from their nearest neighbours at Rose Farm. During the day, the boys and their father work the land and gather provisions, but at night the threesome are under siege from killer creatures that roam the land.
The trio’s quotidian life of humdrum chores and trying to survive each night at a time, is thrown into chaos when Thomas, the more rebellious of the two brothers, fails to return before nightfall one evening.

Dead Boy Detectives was initially developed for television by HBO Max in 2021. After a long and winding road of purgatory, the series eventually is reaching Netflix in early 2023. (Please note that this has nothing to do with Netflix licensing Max properties as of late.) The adaptation of DC Comics has a cult following that can tap into every popular young demographic.
Now, every comic book property will continuously develop in the ever-competitive streaming landscape. This makes it more surprising how ordinary, at times, Dead Boy Detectives can be, considering Netflix’s binge model. Dead Boy Detectives is like a purgatory Hardy Boys procedural, with the boys trying to solve a new case weekly.
However, as the series progresses, you see its overall potential. You hope the streaming giant will allow Dead Boy Detectives to achieve that potential.

There really needs to be some regulation on calling your horror movie The Ritual, even it has a ritual or rituals in it. Seriously, go to the IMDb and see how many titles come up with you type it in (we'll wait — it could be a while)… That, however, isn't stopping director David Midell, who has Al Pacino and Dan Stevens ready to play priests in a new based-on-truth tale that uses that name.
Midell wrote the script with creative partner Enrico Natale and has taken inspiration from a true story. It'll follow a pair of priests, with Stevens' questioning his faith and Pacino's trying to overcome a troubled past as they shove their differences aside to try to help a young woman.
Emma Schmidt's demonic possession demanded a series of dangerous and harrowing exorcism, and her case is still the most thoroughly documented example of the practice in American history.

Scripted by Michael Nilon (Braven), Arcadian has the following synopsis: In the future, in a sparsely populated world, normal life has been decimated. Paul and his twin teenage sons, Thomas and Joseph, have managed to claw out an existence in their remote farmhouse, yet they live in constant fear. Netflix added nine million subscribers in the last quarter of 2023, so while there is now an oversaturation of streaming sites giving them a run for their money, Netflix still seems to be at the top. The streaming giant is expected to spend more money creating new content even though they canceled more shows in 2023, like fan favorites Shadow and Bone, Fate: The Winx Saga, Inside Job, and Lockwood & Co. If you’re watching NFL games on CBS this Sunday and things suddenly turn upside-down, rest assured that nothing is wrong with your TV set. It’s just CBS’ promo department being a bit of a larrikin.
TVLine can exclusively report that this Sunday, Nov. 12, CBS will intentionally air its NCIS: Sydney promo spots upside down during NFL on CBS games, tying into the “Down Under” theme of the well-watched franchise’s very first international endeavor, which was filmed on location in Australia — that’s in the southern hemisphere, for those who skipped geography class — and premieres Stateside Tuesday, Nov.

When TV shows aren’t popular, they get canceled — at least that’s the precedent set by years of broadcast and cable programming. But in the current era of streaming services, a surplus of shows, and an evaporating pile of cash, has created an overwhelming wave of cancellations completely at odds with shows’ viewership, popularity, or quality. For the average viewer, this might just mean pressing play on something new. But online, small but tight-knit fandoms have taken it upon themselves to face down streaming giants over their beloved shows.

Seven Kings Must Die concludes the story of Uhtred Ragnarsson, a decades-long frenemy of the English crown since the days of King Alfred the Great. It’s largely adapted from Bernard Cornwell’s final instalment in his Saxon Stories books, War Lord, along with elements of the two previous novels, and tracks the contested succession to the royal throne following the death of King Edward.
A significant time jump has taken place since the final moments of The Last Kingdom season five, during which Aelswith, Hild and Eadith have all passed or moved away. A core of male characters remains though, including Uhtred, Finan, Sihtric, Father Pyrlig and Aldhelm. They’re joined by brand new characters, as below.
Laurie Davidson as Ingilmundr
The biggest addition to The Last Kingdom’s regular cast is Aethelstan’s new trusted advisor, Ingilmundr, a Danish-born Christian who shows a powerful influence over King Edward’s successor.

Nicolas Cage gets a ride in this exclusive first-look image from upcoming survival action-thriller Arcadian (formerly titled Sand and Stones).
The Oscar winner — soon to be seen playing Dracula in Universal’s Renfield with Nicholas Hoult — stars alongside Jaeden Martell (It, Knives Out), Maxwell Jenkins (Dear Edward, Lost in Space) and Sadie Soverall (Fate: The Winx Saga, Saltburn) in the film, directed by Ben Brewer, who was the lead visual effects artist for Everything Everywhere All At Once (and reunites with Cage following the filmmaker’s feature debut The Trust).
Highland Film Group is handling worldwide rights to the feature, which recently wrapped production in Dublin, Ireland and is now in post-production.
Written by Michael Nilon (Braven starring Jason Momoa), Arcadian is set in a post-apocalyptic and sparsely populated world, where Paul (Cage) and his twin teenage sons, Joseph (Martell) and Thomas (Jenkins), have managed to claw out an existence yet live in constant fear.

Netflix viewers have called on others to help the streamer’s “underrated” Lockwood & Co land a second season.
Despite minimal press and promotional content, the eight-episode detective fiction has managed to secure the No 2 spot on Netflix UK’s Top 10 watchlist, having arrived on the platform on 27 January.
Based on British author Jonathan Stout’s supernatural book series of the same name, the show follows Lucy (Ruby Stokes), a girl with psychic abilities. Lucy joins the ghost-hunting agency Lockwood & Co, which is run by teenagers Anthony (Cameron Chapman) and George (Ali Hadji-Heshmati).
Together, without adult supervision, the trio battle deadly spirits tormenting London.
Starring a largely unknown cast, the show lacks the same mega-watt star power that other Netflix success stories, such as You and That ’90s Show, have benefitted from.
As a result, fans have taken it upon themselves to encourage other social media users to tune in.

Fans of the adult sci-fi animated series “Inside Job” are railing on Netflix for cancelling the series after one season, despite having been ordered for a Season 2. The cancellation was confirmed by series creator Shion Takeuchi on Twitter Sunday.
“Over the years, these characters have become real people to me, and I am devastated not to be able to watch them grow up,” Takeuchi wrote. “Reagan and Brett deserved to get their ending and finally find happiness. And I would have loved to been able to share what was in store with you all.”
Takeuchi also addressed fans directly, writing: “To everyone who watched, thank you for coming along on the ride. Even though I’m sad, it helps to know that there’s people out there who cared just as much about these characters as me.”

Netflix has swung the axe on yet another show that ended on a cliffhanger.
In recent months, the streaming service has prematurely called time on several cult titles, which has led to frustration from users.
These cancellations include 1899, Fate: The Winx Saga and The Bastard Son & the Devil Himself.
On Monday (9 January), Shion Takeuchi announced on Twitter that her series, the adult animation Inside Job, would not be returning for a second season.
Inside Job follows anti-social genius Reagan Ridley (voiced by Lizzy Caplan) and her dysfunctional team, who work to hide the world's conspiracies.
After receiving acclaim, it released its second batch of episodes in 2021, and the finale ended on a cliffhanger that left viewers desperate to find out what happened next. Sadly, they never will.
“I’m heartbroken to confirm that Netflix has decided to cancel Season 2 of Inside Job,” Takeuchi shared in a message via Twitter.

Netflix viewers have lamented the streamer’s “bananas” decision to cancel another popular series.
The streaming service has recently cancelled a number of popular fantasy shows, including Fate: The Winx Saga and vampire series First Kill.
Now, Warrior Nun has become the latest show on that list, just one month after season two arrived on Netflix.
The fantasy series, based on Ben Dunn’s comic books, follows Ava Silva (Alba Baptista), a young girl who wakes up in a morgue and learns she now has supernatural powers that can be used to defend the world from demons, with the help of an order of warrior nuns.
Despite the show spending three weeks in Netflix’s worldwide top 10 and peaking at No 5 (according to Deadline), creator Simon Barry announced on Tuesday (13 December) night that they would not be returning for a third outing.

HBO has axed one of its original series after only two seasons, despite it earning a coveted perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Starring Ana Fabrega, Julio Torres, Cassandra Ciangherotti, Bernardo Velasco and Fred Armisen, Los Espookys follows a group of friends in Mexico City who transform their love of horror movies into a business by creating scary situations and convincing people they’re real.
Since its debut in 2019 and its season two release in September, the absurdist comedy currently sits at a critical rating of 100 per cent.
However, while the primarily Spanish-language show managed to win over critics’ hearts, it’s largely flown under the public’s radar, which might explain the unexpected cancellation.
Confirming the news in a statement shared with Variety, HBO wrote: “We are thrilled we could deliver the unique and hilarious second season of ‘Los Espookys’ to viewers finally, more than three years after the series premiere,...
