Watched & enjoyed. Good cast. Good locations. Good story. Yes, it's maybe a bit far fetched - but, that's drama. At times it is somewhat 'comedic'. Looking forward to S2

Season one great, season two ridiculous

Weird. The first series was a little far fetched but worked well. Strong is an excellent actor and the rest of the cast was equally good. But the second series...what a disappointment! One of those shows that makes you angry with how stupidly people behave. So 8 stars for series one, 2 stars for series two.
An English Breaking Bad?
douglas-kay5 November 2019
After watching the first episode I thought the premise of the series was daft but I perservered and really enjoyed it in the end. It has a bit of everything: medical ethics, criminals and love stories. There are some great characters in the series - some morally dubious, some downright evil and some very stupid. I suppose the series explores the impact of the choices we make and the consequences that ensue. Mark Strong is wonderful as the surgeon whose choices take him further down a criminal path. The parallel to Breaking Bad is obvious. I cannot wait for Season 2.
Solid, with nice Character buildup.

It was pretty refreshing to watch a TV series where no protagonist was easy to root for. All of them have ambiguous motives and do things beyond one's limits, usually for their ultimate goal (and no, I don't just mean the good Dr.)
Character buildup was excellent and the plot picks up pace around the 3rd or 4rth episode where one starts to understand that in one swift moment your favorite character can become the complete opposite. Nice comedic touches here and there, effortlessly blended with some hard-to-watch moments.
A solid 7.
Gripping and fun

Strong and Mays Make a great double act.
peterrichboy5 November 2021
Without two of Britain's finest actor's Daniel Mays and Mark Strong at the helm then I thinkTemple would sink without a trace. However such is the chemistry between these two it makes a ridiculous plot into a very entertaining show.
It really should be reclassified as a comedy drama, as this unlikely double act lurch from one crisis after another, season two especially has some really funny moments as they try desperately to avoid mobsters, the police and others threatening to expose them in return for money.
Don't take this to seriously and enjoy the ride. 7/10.

Season 1: Off-beat but highly entertaining. Season 2: You'll reach a point where you can go no further. Awful.

Got quite caught up in series 1. A somewhat fanciful but enjoyable plot line with a solid cast. Season 2 started badly and quickly faded away. A serious of increasingly nonsensical twists in the story leading the episodes to become increasingly painful to watch. You will get to a point where you simply can go no further. Mine was at about 35 mins into episode 2.
Amazing show, must watch... will keep you at the edge of your seat!

Loved the show, the concept, the cast, the execution. Great acting and story line. Explores the idea of consequences in a big way and justification for actions. You can't help but sympathise with most of the characters. Great job Mark Strong and team. Please let there be a second series.
S1 7/10 S2 7/10 up to E5 and then zero

S1 Interesting and chaotic but still a good watch. S2 looking pretty decent until episode 5 and 6. I couldn't even finish E6 as it was absolutely pathetic. This is supposed to be about a surgeon and and scientist (main 2 characters in those episodes, but they would have made Dumb and Dumber look like Harvey/Nobel Prize winners. I was very surprised as Mark Strong is a superb actor, did he see the final cut? Did the writer go for a toilet break and leave Joey Essex to finish the story whilst Danny Dyer took over the production?
If your IQ is above average, steer well clear of this utter nonsense, the base was there but the writers, producers, directors and actors lost the plot and got bored and went down the pub and lost interest in making something watchable. Felt a bit like a bunch of painters being paid early for a job, then deciding they would go down the pub and then forgetting the address of the job!

Really good series, set back by a few annoying characters!

... cough...Story painfully slow...don't know how much longer I can hold on...please send help in the form of quicker story pacing...tell my woman I love her (She gave up after the second episode).
Episode #1: When you consider that the whole premise of the show is built upon a really stupid idea, Temple isn't all bad. The acting is top-notch and Mark Strong can definitely carry a movie or a TV series with little in the way of entourage.
So, his wife is dying of some disease (antibiotic-resistant syphilis, I think), and one man working in a moldy, dank metro tunnel is going to find the cure? With only the help of one half-wit, and little in the way of monetary resources. He performs rogue medical treatments. How much could that net him? Answer: not enough to run his own medical lab.
Just to give an idea of the sometimes tedious and pointless nature of the dialogue, here is one exchange:
Jesús, as we say in Spanish. This could have been replaced by a single question, "Is your place private?" This sort of thing litters the script again and again. This tells me that the series should have only been four episodes. This is one of my biggest complaints about film and TV, they often take way too long to tell a story. I understand that they want to stretch things out for advertising money or whatever, but that doesn't help the quality of the product.
The skewed storyline confused me at times and questions weren't answered directly, causing me to just think it was stupid.
The side-story with the robbers really takes forever to get off the ground, and getting off the ground was hugely boring as well as slow-a bad combination as most would agree. By episode #4 we have heard nothing about the two million pounds the idiot robber, and instead we're being fed a romance story concerning his half-witted assistant.

- Lee, this is Daniel Milton.
- Oh, right. How are you?
- Oh, fine. Look, I was just wondering whether that offer you made is still on the table, by any chance.
- Why? Have you changed your mind?
- Well, that depends.
- Tell me a little bit about this private location you have.
- What do you wanna know?
- Well, how private is it?
- Oh, very private?
- How private is very private?
- Oh, well...

Strong can't keep this raft afloat for long
Xavier_Stone5 November 2021
The story is somewhat believable for a few episodes but then just gets more and more bizarre. It's like they are trying to add tension into it with all the absurdities and cliff hangers. Maybe a 5/10. For Season 1.
Season 2 starts and there is an entire episode of Mark drinking and partying and then doing drugs. Then he's kidnapped and he snaps out if it on the drive over to the operation site and he's as good as gold. Yeah.
This just gets too annoying time and time again. Frustrating to watch idiots run around chasing their tails and it's almost like Keystone Cops.
Season 2 is a 1/10, should have never been written this bad.

Loved this series!
dixona-0020930 September 2019
I loved this series - brilliant cast, great storylines, lots of surprises (even laugh out loud moments). I'm a huge fan of Mark Strong ever since playing Tosca in Our Friends in The North. Playing this mild-mannered surgeon hiding ghastly secrets was a walk in the park for him. Also love Carice (GOT fan!) - she also played a great part. Daniel Mays was just a legend, some of his scenes were just hilarious. Well done to all - can't wait for the next series.

I'm only half way thru S1 and this is a very entertaining show with a great cast. Mark Strong is such an understated presence and Carice van Houten, well, she's just gorgeous to look at (she doesn't even need to speak) and such a talented actor. Loved her in GoT too. It's interspersed with some quirky humour, often supplied by the very likeable Daniel Mays. One to watch.
Could have been so much more

Warning: Spoilers
Was a great premise to the show but unfortunately the synopsis was more exciting (and misleading) than the show itself. Are there another 10-20 episodes of footage left on the edit room floor? It felt like they could have made what they did have left into a 2 hour film. They could have bought in new characters to the clinic each week but instead we get 10 mins of some gangster and 2 hours of Lee moping around after being dumped by a girl. Certainly watchable and the locations and sets were brilliant but I just wish they'd made more of them.
A disappointing second season
mariabasurko-6684823 November 2021
Whereas the first season had a connection to reality where one could Identify himself with the different characters and their situations, the second season lost its touch on reality; with characters behaving out of characters and absurd situations. What seemed to be so important in the first season lost it meaning in the second. As usual the success of a first season forces a second one which makes a parody of what made the first one successful.
