In her first major TV role since her co-starring turn as fan-favorite Shoshanna Shapiro on HBO’s Girls, Zosia Mamet has been cast opposite Ellen Page in Armistead Maupin’s Tales of the City, its 10-episode limited series revival.
Based on the books by Armistead Maupin, this next chapter – Armistead Maupin’s Tales of the City – follows Mary Ann (Laura Linney), who returns home to San Francisco and is reunited with her daughter Shawna (Page) and ex-husband Brian (Paul Gross), twenty years after leaving them behind to pursue her career. Fleeing the midlife crisis that her picture perfect Connecticut life created, Mary Ann returns to her chosen family and will quickly be drawn back into the orbit of Anna Madrigal (Olympia Dukakis) and the residents of 28 Barbary Lane.
Mamet will recur as Claire Duncan, a driven documentarian who has a burgeoning relationship with Shawna (Page) that catches them both off guard.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw has been on a sharp, upward trajectory in the film industry as an actor of late. The British actress burst into the international stardom stratosphere with “Black Mirror’s” hit episode, “San Junipero.” Not long after, Mbatha-Raw starred in “The Cloverfield Paradox.” The “Belle” actor’s latest work, “Fabled,” a new anthology TV series that reimagines classic fairytales in the context of today’s sociopolitical climate, just received its first trailer courtesy of the Tribeca Film Festival.

Following in the footsteps of her Pulitzer Prize-winning father, Zosia Mamet has penned a new television series for Refinery29. Co-created with husband Evan Jonigkeit (Joe Swanberg’s “Easy”), “Fabled” is an anthology series that upends classic fairy tales by giving them a feminist bent. The first episode of the series, titled “Anodyne,” sees Alice from “Alice in Wonderland” crossing paths with Dorothy from “The Wizard of Oz,” and will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival later this month. In a newly released first trailer, the women appear to be at some kind of 30-day rehab program, perhaps for mental illness.
In addition to Mamet and Jonigkeit, “Fabled” stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw (“The Cloverfield Paradox”), Trace Lysette (“Transparent”), and Broadway headliner Norbert Leo Butz. Butz plays a therapist at the palatial looking facility. “We don’t want you to feel like a prisoner here, we want you to feel better,” he says.
