Life Imitates Art, Comedian Elected President
robhnl-2230930 September 2019
It's 2019, all bets are off. Once again an outlier, TV personality, comedian is elected President. Was this film part of well planned conspiracy to steal an election, a droll coincidence, or just another sign of the times? In any event, it's a wry self-commentary on political life in the Ukraine. Take it with a strong dose of salt, but right now we all need a moment of comic relief. Yes one could call it absurd, but so is the daily newsfeed. Let's hope Zelensky still has his sense of humor and will make good use of his sitcom apprenticeship for his Presidency.

Actually an great view into the real Ukraine
callezetter4 April 2022
Its actually a really interesting view into modern Ukraine. Despite beeing over the top, slap stick comedy and heavily exaggerated as an action comedy should be, it still gives a valuable look into the real Ukraine and its current president. The real country and its people shine through the camedy facade. Well worth a look!

Its also a great way to get to know the president and his mediatrain that right now is travelling all over the real world. The guys know media, and how to use it.

So take the movie with a handful of salt but look and feel the real country and its people, politics and culture shine through. Dont miss!

That One Scene Warning: Spoilers
First off, I'm going to get this out of the way. This movie predicted the future almost perfectly. A former comedian and actor in this movie is playing a world leader in this movie and in 2019, this so called former comedian and actor became an actual world leader. Props to this movie for predicting the future. Now I've gotten that out of the way, I'll talk about the film itself. This movie is hilariously ridiculous especially in one scene where a world leader is shooting up a whole room full of people. I'm sorry but I thought this was a family movie. Has film come to the point where characters in family movies are shooting up rooms full of people? I'll let you decide. Aside from that one scene, the rest of the movie is your average comedy and a good one I might add. This isn't what you would a so bad it's good movie but a movie that is so good that it is really stupid and ridiculous but in a good way. This isn't the only Ukrainian movie I've seen but I will say this is the only Ukrainian movie where I've seen a character in a family movie shoot up a room full of people. Again this is a FAMILY MOVIE! We're they out of their minds?

8/10. It is a movie that is memorable but only for one scene that is so fully ridiculous.
