In February 2023, Netflix will remove a bunch of movie and TV series from its library,
Netflix UK and Netflix US takes down numerous titles each month without fanfare, meaning that many things on your watchlist could suddenly disappear.
These removals are due to licencing deals coming to an end. Often, the titles make their way back to Netflix in the following year, but sometimes they leave to go to other platforms.
This month sees a selection of Netflix Originals being taken down, also.
To minimise surprise, we have put together a comprehensive list of everything being removed in both Netflix UK and US.

In 2006, Clint Eastwood directed a pair of war dramas that stood as companion pieces. The first, "Flags of Our Fathers," based on the 2000 book by James Bradley and Ron Powers, was a contemplative and violent dramatization of the Battle of Iwo Jima, told from the perspective of the seven American soldiers who famously raised an American flag to signify their battlefield victory. The raising of the flag was captured on film by the Pulitzer-winning photographer Joe Rosenthal, and his picture served as the inspiration for the Marine Corps War Memorial in Washington DC. Eastwood's film climaxed with Rosenthal's taking of the picture.
"Flags of Our Fathers" was released on October 20, and its companion, "Letters from Iwo Jima" was released on December 20. "Letters" also detailed the events of the Battle of Iwo Jima, but from the perspective of the Japanese soldiers. Ken Watanabe gave an excellent performance as real-life General Tadamichi Kuribayashi,...

Blumhouse and Prime Video have won world rights to Sundance horror-drama Nanny, we can reveal.
In a competitive situation, which also included SPC and Neon, Prime Video ultimately won out thanks to a deal in the $7M range. Blumhouse’s Jason Blum saw the movie and instantly fell for it so wanted to include it as part of the company’s Amazon deal. There is also a theatrical commitment, we understand.
From in-demand first-time feature writer/director Nikyatu Jusu, Nanny premiered at Sundance this year in the U.S. Dramatic Competition to strong reviews and went on to win the Sundance Grand Jury Prize, the first horror film to take the festival’s top honor.

Disney’s “Shang-Chi” is heading for a box office three-peat.
The Marvel superhero adventure, starring Simu Liu and Awkwafina, is projected to generate roughly $17 million between Friday and Sunday, which would represent a decline of around 50% from the weekend prior. Though two new movies — Clint Eastwood’s “Cry Macho” and “Copshop” with Gerard Butler — are opening nationwide, neither are expected to defeat “Shang-Chi” on domestic box office charts.
Since debuting in theaters over the Labor Day holiday, “Shang-Chi” has amassed $146 million in the U.S. and Canada and looks on pace to become the first pandemic-era release to cross $200 million at the domestic box office. So far, no movie has been able to crack that milestone but Disney and Marvel’s “Black Widow” ($183 million) and Universal’s “F9: The Fast Saga” ($172 million) have come closest.
In pre-covid times, it wouldn’t have been particularly notable for “Shang-Chi” to hit $200 million in North America.

Created, directed and based on an original idea by Lee and written by Banks-Waddles, At That Age is an exploration of an African-American family’s legacy. After the Cooper family’s golden child suffers a catastrophic event, seven family members face a foundational shift, make life-altering decisions and deal with deep secrets coming to light.

Greer will play the role of Ana opposite returning star Grace VanderWaal who plays Stargirl. VanderWaal will write and perform original music as well.

Showtime’s upcoming anthology “The First Lady” has recast the role of Nancy Howe, with Judy Greer replacing Pamela Adlon, who had to leave the production due to a scheduling conflict.
Howe was the trusted confidante and social secretary of former first lady Betty Ford (who will be played Michelle Pfeiffer). Per Showtime, “The two were inseparable through thick and thin, from facing Betty’s struggle with breast cancer to turning dusty White House traditions upside down.”
Greer will appear on four episodes of “The First Lady,” which is described as “a revelatory reframing of American leadership, told through the lens of the women at the heart of the White House. In the East Wing of the White House, many of history’s most impactful and world-changing decisions have been hidden from view, made by America’s charismatic, complex and dynamic First Ladies. In 2018, “Bohemian Rhapsody” blew past everyone’s expectations, becoming one of the top 10 highest grossing films of the year off the love that Queen fans have for the late Freddie Mercury. Now, “Rocketman” will try to have the same charm on Elton John fans, though it will be a tall order for it to knock “BoRhap” off the top of the music biopic charts.

A French court has ruled that Clint Eastwood is not allowed to testify in the trial of an alleged Islamist gunman who opened fire while on a Thalys train travelling through Europe in 2015.
Moroccan national Ayoub el Khazzani is facing life in prison if found guilty of plotting to kill passengers aboard the train from Amsterdam to Paris in August, 2015. He was apprehended and subdued by a trio of American holiday-goers when his rifle jammed, while a further man was shot in the back when trying to intervene.
The incident was dramatized in the 2018 movie The 15:17 To Paris, which Eastwood directed. The movie was based on the 2016 autobiography The 15:17 to Paris: The True Story of a Terrorist, a Train, and Three American Heroes.
El Khazzani claims he had a change of heart at the last minute and was not going to go through with the attack, which is not depicted in the film.

Clint Eastwood has found his next film: He will direct, produce and star in “Cry Macho” for Warner Bros., an individual with knowledge of the deal told TheWrap.
N. Richard Nash wrote the script along with Nick Schenk. Al Ruddy and Jessica Meier are producing, alongside Tim Moore and Eastwood at Malpaso.
Based on the book of the same name by Nash, the film will star Eastwood as a one-time rodeo star and washed-up horse breeder who takes a job in 1978 to bring a son home and away from his alcoholic mother. Crossing rural Mexico, the duo face challenges and redemption.

The long road to the screen for Emily in Paris is almost over.
Netflix on Wednesday dropped a new trailer for the series, and it gave us our first glimpse at Emily's work life, as well as her relationships.
What is evident from the clip is that Emily is highly opinionated and is not afraid to speak her mind, which seeming rubs her co-workers the wrong way.
Whether she will be able to make it work in Paris is up for debate, especially when she is branded dramatic.
Emily also seems to be in a complicated relationship with her hot neighbor, and we're not complaining.

With The Mule, Clint Eastwood takes his third last ride, and he could not have chosen a worst time to do it.
Ten years ago, in the last production he both directed and starred, Gran Torino, the growling violence and racism of Eastwood’s Walt Kowalski was given narrative context and earned redemption, making it the perfect would-be swan song. The Mule offers neither, and the many despicable attributes of its lead character are left out to dry in a picture that is never particularly good.
Maybe the 88-year-old icon is content, or perhaps hell bent on only playing characters who scowl at political correctness, as they prepare for their last ride. But with this being the second movie of his in 2018 – the first being the experimental, not-so-well-received film, The 15:17 To Paris – and with a steady flow of gritty, patriotic, and often historical pieces, it doesn’t seem like Eastwood is ready to leave.

From Warner Bros. Pictures, Imperative Entertainment and Bron Creative comes Clint Eastwood’s newest feature film, the drama The Mule.
In addition to directing, the veteran actor will step in front of the lens again, alongside fellow stars Bradley Cooper, Laurence Fishburne, Michael Peña, Dianne Wiest and Andy Garcia, as well as Alison Eastwood, Taissa Farmiga, Ignacio Serricchio and Loren Dean, Eugene Cordero.
Eastwood stars as Earl Stone, a man in his 80s who is broke, alone, and facing foreclosure of his business when he is offered a job that simply requires him to drive. Easy enough, but, unbeknownst to Earl, he’s just signed on as a drug courier for a Mexican cartel. He does well—so well, in fact, that his cargo increases exponentially, and Earl is assigned a handler. But he isn’t the only one keeping tabs on Earl; the mysterious new drug mule has also...

American movies are so addicted to well-intentioned wrongdoing that you’d think income-redistributing thief and ethical assassin were common career choices. But Clint Eastwood, who has mined our darker impulses for exhilarating pleasure for over half a century, knows how to tell an entertaining crime saga that keeps the pain, confusion, and moral quandaries front and center. Which makes “The Mule,” his 38th feature behind the camera, another mostly solid notch in a career built on making many of life’s notches feel like scars.
After three docudramas — “American Sniper,” “Sully” and “The 15:17 to Paris” — that amount to a trilogy of sorts about heroism, Eastwood’s return to acting sees him playing a resolutely non-heroic man whose survival choice is fascinating, nonetheless. Eastwood’s character, Earl Stone, is based on a real-life 90-year-old horticulturalist recruited to drive hundreds of kilos of cocaine across America for the Sinaloa cartel before...

There’s a trail of blood and tears across the path of the Clint Eastwood persona. The career of the American movie star/director has been shaped by violence, since his days as a TV star in Rawhide (1959-1965) until his most recent directorial effort, The 15:17 to Paris (2018). Whether directing or directed, the sound of swinging saloon doors and jingling boot spores, more often than not precede gunshots, screams, bodies dropping, cries for help or cries for mourning.I started exploring the relationship of Clint Eastwood with violence in his 1992 masterpiece Unforgiven. It culminated in a video essay that found merit in his depiction of the atrocities on screen, but casted doubts on the its effectiveness. The protagonist, William Munny (Clint Eastwood), is haunted by the evil past he downplays. In a feverish dream, Munny sees the faces of his death wife, as well as his fallen victims, with...

If anyone knows how difficult actors can be, it’s Clint Eastwood. Maybe that’s why he chose to cast non-actors in his latest directorial effort, “The 15:17 to Paris,” which recently released a dramatic new trailer worthy of its clunky title. Returning to ground he found fertile in 2016’s “Sully,” Eastwood depicts the true story of passengers on a French train who overtook an armed terrorist in 2015, preventing a potential mass shooting. Eastwood cast many of the real passengers to play themselves in the movie, including three Americans: Anthony Sadler, Alek Skarlatos, and Spencer Stone.

The first trailer for Clint Eastwood’s “The 15:17 to Paris” landed on Wednesday, teasing the backstory behind the three American heroes who thwarted a terrorist attack on board a Paris-bound train in August 2015. In an unusual twist, Anthony Sadler, Oregon National Guardsman Alek Skarlatos, and U.S. Air Force Airman First Class Spencer Stone play themselves in the film — alongside actors depicting their boyhood selves as well as others in their lives past and present. "Don't try and take any shortcuts. Do what you know is right." Warner Bros has debuted the first official trailer for Clint Eastwood's The 15:17 to Paris, telling a fictionalized version of the story of three men who thwarted a potential terrorist attack on a train in France in 2015. The story goes that three men confronted and subdued the attacker before he could harm more people, and they have since become heroes for their actions. The 15:17 to Paris actually stars the three real men playing themselves: Anthony Sadler, Alek Skarlatos, and Spencer Stone, along with a cast of actors including Jenna Fischer, Judy Greer, Ray Corasani, Pj Byrne, Tony Hale, and Thomas Lennon. Eastwood is really into these stories of regular American heroes, my goodness. The twist in this is using the actual men, which is kind of cool to see. Enjoy. Here's the first official trailer for...
