On the positive side, the cable channel did license Sky's The Lazarus Project from the UK and also picked up the second season. If the series sees a third season, will TNT stay on board, or will the channel cancel this show too? Stay tuned. *Status update below.

There's a case to be made that Chris Hemsworth is the most talented of the Marvel Studios Chrises. He's got great comedic energy and leaned into that with his later performances as Thor (even if he admittedly went overboard in "Thor: Love and Thunder"). His vengeance-driven God of Thunder is the highlight of "Infinity War" too.
He's also making interesting career choices. I'm a Captain America fan, but Chris Evans has not challenged himself as an actor since "Snowpiercer." ("Knives Out" was just him dusting off his pre-Cap screen persona of a cocky a-hole.) Chris Pratt has waltzed his way into being Hollywood's leading voice actor despite his anonymous performances in "The Super Mario Brothers" and soon, "The Garfield Movie." Hemsworth takes paycheck gigs (see: "Extraction" and his voice acting turn as young Optimus Prime in "Transformers: One" this coming Summer), but he shows ambition too. One year after it premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, the New Zealand black comedy “Bad Behaviour,” starring Jennifer Connelly, is finally coming out in North America. The film is the directorial debut of actor-turned-filmmaker Alice Englert. Englert made some noticeable turns in “Ginger & Rosa” (2012), playing Lena Duchannes in the film “Beautiful Creatures” (2013), and in “Top Of The Lake China Girl” (2017), but she is also known as the daughter of famous New Zealand filmmaker Jane Campion, so clearly filmmaking runs in their blood.

Last month, non-profit group Good Energy launched what it called a Bechdel Test for Climate Change, a simple set of criteria designed to determine if it was clear climate change was present in a film. The real Allison Bechdel even endorsed it.
As part of the “Climate Reality Check,” just three movies nominated for Oscars this year passed the test’s two simple rules: “Climate change exists” and “a character knows it.” Now a more extensive study published by Good Energy and Colby College’s Buck Lab for Climate and Environment has analyzed 250 of the top grossing movies between 2013 and 2022 under the same criteria.
Global warming has been with us for a while now, but only 12.8 percent — 32 of the 250 films studied in that time span — even passed the first criteria saying that climate change exists. Only 24 films, or 9.6 percent, passed both criteria of the test.

Given the state of the world around us today, it's not surprising that people are interested in post-apocalyptic settings. After all, you never know what skills or niche knowledge might save your life one day!
In all seriousness, though, post-apocalyptic scenarios can be a lot of fun. Packed with action, high stakes, and suspense, they keep viewers on the edge of their seats. Unfortunately, it's not easy to find a movie or TV series that does justice to the genre and doesn't rely on the same repetitive clichés.

Francis Ford Coppola’s risky, largely self-financed passion project Megalopolis has finally found one distributor – Le Pacte in France.
Hollywood studio reps didn’t seem massively upbeat about Megalopolis, Francis Ford Coppola’s sci-fi epic, but the $120m film has at least found a valuable backer in France.
French outlet Le Point (as picked up by World of Reel) reports that the independent company Le Pacte will put Megalopolis in the country’s cinemas, with its release scheduled for the end of September.
Le Pacte has good taste when it comes to distributing indie films on French screens; other movies it’s taken under its wing include Snowpiercer, Drive and last year’s Oscar-winning Anatomy Of A Fall.
Megalopolis' September cinema release will come after it screens in competition at 2025’s Cannes Film Festival – an event that, if all goes well, might endear it to more global distributors if they...

Four weeks after its initial release, South Korean horror film “Exhuma” is still burning through the country’s box office. “Pamyo,” as it’s known in Korea (which directly translates to “exhumation for relocation or cremation”), has resonated in a major way with audiences who have shown up in droves to see the story of a shaman named Hwa-rim (Kim Go-eun) and the wandering spirits she takes on with Bong-gil (Lee Do-hyun), her protégé. This week: it expands in the United States.

This has caused some fans to speculate that Marvel and Disney+ might have decided to scrap Ironheart, along with the series Wonder Man, which had Yahya Abdul-Mateen II taking on the role of the title character, who is also known as Simon Williams and hasn’t been seen in the MCU yet. Snowpiercer viewers will finally be able to see the fourth and final season of the TNT series. AMC has picked up the entire series, which was dropped by TNT in January 2023. Episodes for season four were already filmed, but the cable channel cancelled its plans to air them due to cost-cutting measures.
Starring Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, Sean Bean, Rowan Blanchard, Alison Wright, Mickey Sumner, Iddo Goldberg, Katie McGuinness, Lena Hall, Archie Panjabi, Annalise Basso, Sam Otto, Roberto Urbina, Sheila Vand, Mike O’Malley, Chelsea Harris, and Steven Ogg, the series is set more than seven years after the planet has turned into a frozen wasteland. The survivors live on a constantly moving train of 1,001 train cars that circle the Earth.

The fourth and final season of “Snowpiercer” has finally found a savior. Deadline reports that the series has a new home after Warner Bros. Company decided not to air the show’s completed Season 4 on TNT in one of its recent cost-cutting moves. AMC now has the rights to all four seasons of the post-apocalyptic drama and will premiere the show’s last batch of new episodes in early 2025.

Completed yet shelved by Warner Bros Discovery, Snowpiercer season 4 will finally get an airing thanks to a deal with AMC.
Another victim of cost-cutting at Warner Bros Discovery, sci-fi series Snowpiercer was unceremoniously scrapped in January 2023 – a decision made after production had already completed on what was planned as its fourth and final season. Snowpiercer therefore joined the likes of Batgirl and Coyote Vs Acme in a grim list of tax write-offs at the studio.
There’s now good news, however: AMC has acquired the rights to Snowpiercer, and there are now plans to stream the first three seasons on AMC+ this year, while the fourth and final season will finally stream in 2025.
“Snowpiercer is an edge-of-your-seat thrill ride with a loyal fanbase – similar to the passionate fandoms we serve across our biggest franchise series – and a welcome addition to AMC and AMC+,” said AMC executive Ben Davis in a statement to Variety.

There’s light at the end of the tunnel for Snowpiercer, after all.
The post-apocalyptic drama on wheels was canceled after three seasons by TNT in January 2023, despite previously scoring a renewal for a fourth — and final — season.
At the time of the cancellation, the entirety of the fourth season was in the can, meaning that an ending had been filmed, but producers would need to find a new outlet to air the episodes.
Truthfully, we lost hope the episodes would see the light of day because it was the latest in a long line of financially driven decisions by Warner Bros. Discovery, which had already scrapped the already-completed Batgirl movie, among other things.
As the weeks turned into months, the chance of Snowpiercer securing a home to air its final-ever episodes looked bleak … until AMC stepped up to the plate this week.

“Snowpiercer”, the live-action ‘dystopian thriller’ science fiction TV series, previously canceled at TNT, will be picked up for new Season 4 episodes at AMC, starring Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, Sean Bean, Mickey Sumner and Alison Wright:
"...in Season Three, 'Layton' and his inner circle command a small pirate train in search of 'Melanie' and a possible warm location to restart civilization, aided by a newfound survivor.
"Then back on 'Snowpiercer', 'Mr. Wilford' is consolidating power, foiled only by secret allies of Layton's hidden on the train..."

TNT‘s series adaptation of Bong Joon Ho’s “Snowpiercer” (which was based on the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob) kicked off back in 2020, with three seasons aired between 2020 and 2022. Season 4 has already been filmed, but it won’t be airing on TNT. As we learned last year, TNT made the decision to cut ties with the brand entirely.
The good news? The upcoming season has been given a second chance at life.
Variety reports this afternoon that “Snowpiercer” Season 4 has been acquired by AMC – along with the previous three seasons – and it’ll finally premiere on AMC in early 2025.
Variety notes, “It had already been announced Season 4 would be the show’s last before TNT parent company Warner Bros. Discovery decided to not air Season 4 altogether in a cost-cutting move. Producer Tomorrow Studios then shopped the show to other outlets.”
