“Evil” will end with its upcoming Season 4 at Paramount+.
The series was renewed for a fourth season back in June 2022, though it was not reported at the time that it would be the final season. New episodes of the series will debut in May, with Paramount+ also ordering four bonus episodes to supplement the season. Production will begin on the new episodes in New York City in the coming weeks.
A teaser trailer can be seen below.
“We want to thank Paramount+ for giving us four bonus episodes to end ‘Evil’ in the world in style,” said Robert and Michelle King, series co-creators, showrunners and executive producers. “We will miss this show and cast. In many ways it was a dream project, but sadly evil will outlast ‘Evil’. See you in May.”
“Evil” originally debuted on CBS back in 2019. It was then shifted over to Paramount+ going into its second season.

Caffeine is making big moves in 2023. The five-year-old streaming platform is planning a pick-me-up for its content library in the form of an original content slate, which includes 14 new and upcoming programs from Caffeine’s most prominent partners.
While other streaming outlets focus predominantly on gaming, Caffeine offers a range of entertainment options across its directory of channels. In the coming year, those pop culture hubs will add new shows. The Ultimate Rap League, which has delivered six-digit live audiences on Caffeine, will launch two originals, including a new round of its battle-of-the-sexes contest. Kings vs. Queens is slated to return in March.
Other shows in the new Caffeine content slate will expand the platform’s offerings in categories like sports, comedy, and dance. Ballislife is one of several basketball channels on Caffeine, and it will add to its library with three shows, including a new round of the one-on-one tournament King of the Court.

The outlet that unexpectedly crashed the top Emmy race; the home to complicated LGBTQ and female storytelling for an intriguing, glimmering moment; the place that today, even in its attenuated state, airs “Yellowjackets” and “Ziwe.”
For a long moment leading up until very recently, Showtime has felt like something less than what it once was — perhaps inevitable, given that “what it once was” was a channel that punched so far above weight that it seemed at times close to an equal of HBO. And the news that it is in some way changing form, taking on the cumbersome name “Paramount+ With Showtime” and seeing its highest-profile forthcoming series, “Three Women,” get offloaded before airing, suggests that even its more mediocre days as a stand-alone television network will soon be in the rear-view mirror.

"Mayfair Witches," the new AMC+ series based on the book trilogy "Lives of the Mayfair Witches" by Anne Rice, has been looking well outside the realm of supernatural TV dramas for inspiration in season 1. You wouldn't necessarily expect to hear showrunner Esta Spalding and executive producer Michelle Ashford namecheck a 1999 Gulf War movie, but that's exactly what they did in Vanessa Armstrong's /Film interview with the duo.
"Mayfair Witches" stars Alexandra Daddario as Dr. Rowan Mayfair, a neurosurgeon who uncovers her own family link to a dynasty of witches. She's unaware of her powers at first, and this leads to her looking inside people's brains and "popping arteries like bubble gum," as Danielle Ryan put it in her "Mayfair Witches" review. No need for an endoscopy when you have a witch on the case who can show the audience what a person's dying body looks like inside.

“The Good Fight,” a spinoff of “The Good Wife,” will conclude with its upcoming sixth season, Paramount+ announced Friday.
“We’ve Loved fighting ‘The Good Fight’ these last six seasons. To be able to tell stories about an upside-down world in real time has been a gift. And to have worked with these talented, brilliant, generous actors, writers, and crew has been a blessing,” creators and executive producers Robert and Michelle King said in a statement. “Our hope-slash-scheme is to find ways to work with all of them again in the future.”
The upcoming final season will see Diane (Baranski) feel like she’s going crazy as she struggles with an uneasy sense of déjà vu, with everything from Roe v. Wade, to voting rights, to Cold War aggressions returning. Meanwhile, the lawyers of Reddick & Associates wonder if the violence that they see all around them points to an impending civil war,...

It is lonely being an Anglophone Arnaud Desplechin fan, let alone one based in the U.K. A strong cult generated in the aftermath of his ’00s arthouse hits Kings and Queen and A Christmas Tale survives, but in terms of a theatrical release, his newer work will play once or twice at one-off screenings in the US, then fall to be retrieved (or ignored) in a VOD content library. And in Blighty they have lately got harsh, if uncomprehending reviews, creating further invisibility.
If the quality of Ismäel’s Ghosts, Oh, Mercy! and Deception denotes no fall-off, there’s still the impression Desplechin could use a broader hit to remind everyone how good he is, even as his reputation and industry success in France remains robust; My Golden Days had this exact impact after Jimmy P. disappointed some. Enter Brother and Sister.

(Welcome to TV, Interrupted, a series where the /Film team remembers, eulogizes, and makes a case for the revival of TV shows we loved that were canceled far too soon.)

Celebrated up-and-coming Colombian filmmaker Laura Mora has wrapped shooting on her third feature “Kings of the World,” backed by Cristina Gallego, producer-director of 2018 Cannes Directors’ Fortnight hit “Birds of Passage,” and Mirlanda Torres.
“Kings” is set up at Gallego’s Bogota-based Ciudad Lunar, the label behind Oscar-nominated “Embrace of the Serpent” and Torres’ La Selva Producciones. It is backed by a powerful alliance of international production partners, often a sign these days of a major Latin American art film: Mer Films (Norway), Iris Prods. (Luxembourg), Talipot Studio (Mexico), Tu Vas Voir (France) and made in association with Caracol Televisión.
Written by Mora and María Camila Arias, a co-writer on “Birds of Passage,” “Kings of the World” is among the titles that sales agent Film Factory Entertainment is presenting at the Toronto Festival’s market.
The feature follows Rape, Culebro, Sere, Winny and Nano, five Medellín young men of and from the streets.

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “The Good Fight” Season 5 finale, Episode 10, “And the violence spread…”]
Like many other shows stuck in production limbo last spring, “The Good Fight” didn’t end last season quite the way it intended. The show certainly left on a memorable note, but to describe the details for the uninitiated is to spoil one of the great reveals in recent history.
If anything, navigating the void left by three unfinished episodes made series co-creators Robert and Michelle King more determined than ever to tell a full, complete arc in Season 5. And for a show that often draws its thematic material directly from the prevailing stories on a national scale, this latest finale made one the show’s clearest connections to the very real events that kicked off this calendar year.

It’s been more than 40 years since the Ivory Coast first won an Oscar for Best International Feature — then known as Best Foreign Language Film. Could the African nation win again for the critically acclaimed film “Night of the Kings”?
SEEKaouther Ben Hania (‘The Man Who Sold His Skin’) on her Tunisian International Feature Oscar contender: ‘This is not a classic refugee story’ [Exclusive Video Interview]
“Night of the Kings” is only the third film submitted to the Oscars from the nation, though their success rate is pretty good given their infrequent entries. They won the award for the anti-war satire “Black and White in Color” (1976), the directorial debut of French filmmaker Jean-Jacques Annaud, who went on to direct one other Oscar nominee, but representing France, “Betty Blue” (1986).
Ivory Coast didn’t submit another film for consideration for almost four decades. For 2015 they entered “Run” by director Philippe Lacôte. That film also dealt with unrest in the country,...

Vikings Season 6 Episode 12
“We were defeated by a dead man.”
Three different lands; three different political situations. The natural heir to Kattegat’s throne doesn’t want it. Prince Igor is still too young to take the crown that is rightfully his to wear, and the presumptive favorite in Iceland rose to prominence by savagely slaughtering his opposition. The desire for power remains a potent aspect of the human condition, and like so many before him, Michael Hirst examines the motivations these men and women possess and the depths to which they’ll go to seize control. Never short of diplomatic intrigue, Vikings charges forward as the three Lothbrok brothers occupy vastly different world views.
While Ubbe, Gunnhild, and Kjetill all face their fair share of problems, the most fascinating arc that “All Change” explores is that of Ivar and the Rus princes. Ivar’s...

Zulu Dawn was the 1979 prequel to 1964’s Zulu. Zulu Dawn is about the 1879 Battle of Isandlwana, in which some 20,000 Zulu warriors decimated the British military in South Africa. Incredibly, Zulu was about the Battle of Rorke’s Drift, later that same day, in which the British repelled a somewhat smaller attacking force. Grasshopper Film has secured the U.S. distribution rights to Iwow: I Walk on Water, a documentary feature from New York-based photographer and filmmaker Khalik Allah, to released in physical and virtual theaters later this year. In Iwow, Allah focuses on longtime muse Frenchie, a 60-something schizophrenic, homeless Haitian man, who he becomes increasingly intertwined with. In parallel, Allah, the filmmaker behind Black Mother, also turns the camera on himself to document a turbulent romantic relationship and grapple with personal notions of spirituality and mortality – all inquiries about which he gathers advice from charismatic confidants including Fab 5 Freddy, members of the Wu-Tang Clan, and, in deeply moving exchanges, his own mother. Allah, who made his debut with the 2015 documentary Field Niggas, said “My objective hasn’t changed, it’s always been to keep it real with myself; to stay true to my vision and to have the courage to express it cinematically.

To paraphrase a famous saying: ‘Tis better to have loved a TV show, and lost it after one season, than never to have loved at all.
Throughout the years, TV fans have loved and lost a lot of quality series, too many of which were axed after just one season despite their massive potential. Now that another TV season is behind us — which brought the cancellations of one-and-done series like Emergence and The Baker and the Beauty — we’re getting a bit nostalgic for dozens more shows that departed too soon.

Securing a percentage of auditorium capacity rather than a hard, fixed number was a big win for exhibitors as it will allow them to reopen auditoriums of all sizes on day one, explained Jocelyn Bouyssy, who runs Cgr Cinemas, the country’s second biggest multiplex chain.
On top of the 50% cap in France, there will need to be an empty seat on each side in between each patron; however, groups that aren’t necessarily people living in the same household will be able to sit together.
The guidelines also recommend that patrons wear a mask during their whereabouts in the cinemas,...

Last year, Christine Baranski celebrated her tenth season portraying lawyer Diane Lockhart on “The Good Wife” and its spin-off “The Good Fight,” a milestone that brought her within striking distance of her first-ever Drama Actress Emmy nomination. Though she missed out on that richly-earned accolade, Baranski raised her game even further to mark the start of her second decade in the role with her hilarious and emotionally-raw gamut-running turn in the “Good Fight” season four premiere.
Penned by series creators Michelle King and Robert King, the season-opener “The Gang Deals with Alternate Reality” very cheekily returns to the show’s origins, recreating the opening scene of the pilot episode in which Baranski’s Diane watched the 2017 inauguration in horror as President Donald J. Trump gets sworn into the highest office in the land. This time, though, Diane watches on with glee as Hillary Clinton gets inaugurated instead. Baranski beams, lets out a joyous guttural scream,...

“We often think of satire as a missile directed at one target,” reveals writer/director/producer Robert King about tackling issues from a more nuanced and daring perspective in “The Good Fight.” He created alongside wife and collaborator Michelle King, who declares that they “satirize the left as often as we do the right.” Watch our exclusive video interview with the duo above.
“You can make fun of all views of something, kind of like what is good for the goose is good for the gander,” Robert notes. “The idea that it is not only one political bent or idea that you can satirize. You can look at both as being as sometimes equally suspect.”

Cush Jumbo will not be returning to “The Good Fight” when the CBS All Access show comes back for its fifth season, Variety has confirmed.
“I have had the most amazing time over the last five years working with Robert, Michelle and the crews of both ‘The Good Wife’ and ‘The Good Fight,'” Jumbo said. “I will miss them all so much, but am so excited to explore pastures new. Due to the pandemic forcing us to shut down early we weren’t able to wrap up Lucca’s story fully and so I hope if schedules allow I can return next season to do that.”
Jumbo has played Lucca Quinn since the series began, having originated the role on the mothership CBS series “The Good Wife.” She is the latest cast member to depart the show in the recent past, with Delroy Lindo having exited to star in...
