With a sequel series now available on Netflix, That ’70s Show has been back under the spotlight in 2023. The TV show produced many notable stars in its main cast, but going back and watching those old episodes has revealed some major guest stars. The kind who was vastly underrated back when the series was still airing.
One of the most famous, Amy Adams, is the perfect example of why no job is too small to take. Her career began with one-off sitcom appearances, and now she has six Academy Award nominations to her name. But was that evident when she appeared on That ’70s Show?

A recent tribute concert dubbed The Bizarre World of Frank Zappa in Huntington, New York had all the markings of a concert by the rock iconoclast from nerdy fans geeking out about the night’s guitar players before the show to doo-wop intro music but with one marked problem: Frank Zappa died in 1993. The mustachioed musician at the center of it all, playing alongside erstwhile members of Zappa’s band, wasn’t a real person at all. It was a hologram.

On Sunday’s “American Idol,” two of the Top 5 contestants were eliminated: Laci Kaye Booth and Wade Cota. Although they performed at the top of their game, in the end their three rival finalists got more of America’s votes. That leading trio of vote-getters as revealed by Ryan Seacrest are: Alejandro Aranda, Laine Hardy and Madison VanDenburg. (Vote in our ‘American Idol’ winner poll.)
This result meant that Laci and Wade fell just short of making the Top 3. We asked you which of these two talents to be sent home was robbed of a place in the finale next Sunday (May 19). By a margin of 56% to 44% “(as of this writing), “American Idol” viewers favor Wade over Laci.
Wade, a 27-year-old musician from Phoenix, had never been in the bottom 2 before. Conversely, Laci — a 23-year-old college student from Livingston TX — only made it to the semi-final after she inspired Luke Bryan,...

The May 12 episode of “American Idol” showcased the Top 5. Each of the finalists sang three songs: one in honor of Mother’s Day, another chosen by mentor Bobby Bones, and a third from the Elton John back catalog. As with the last three Sunday shows, this episode aired live nationwide. America got to vote for their favorites in real-time, with the results revealed by host Ryan Seacrest at the end of the episode.
The top three vote-getters — Alejandro Aranda, Laine Hardy and Madison VanDenburg — will contend in the final next week. And the bottom two — Laci Kaye Booth and Wade Cota — were bounced from the competition.

Laci Kaye Booth didn’t win enough viewer votes on the Top 6 episode of “American Idol” to make it into the semi-finals. But Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie used their one judges save of the season on May 5 to throw her a lifeline and give her the last slot in the Top 5. Unfortunately for Laci, her most recent performances have not been the post popular with viewers.
We polled “Idol” fans to rank her nine performances to date and their favorite was her first. That cover of the Ray Charles classic “Georgia on My Mind” from the Top 40 show has earned a whopping 28% of the total tally to date. Also scoring well with viewers were Laci’s Top 20 solo — “I Want You To Want Me” by Cheap Trick — which has 23% of the vote, and her Top 20 duet with Brett Young on his hit “Mercy,” which merits 12% support.

In advance of the final five taking to stage on Sunday’s live “American Idol,” we wanted to know who viewers were backing to win season 17. Alejandro Aranda garnered a whopping 40% support in our poll. Laine Hardy, his closest rival more ways than one, is next with 31%. They lead out power rankings from best to worst and are all but certain to number among the Top 3 revealed by Ryan Seacrest at the end of the show on May 12.
Of the other three contestants, Wade Cota looks the likeliest to round out the roster of finalists. He has 15% of the total tally. The two women still standing — Laci Kaye Booth and Madison Vandenburg — did not break into double digits with 6% and 8% of the vote by “American Idol” fans respectively.

Laci Kaye Booth is almost certain to face elimination on “American Idol” this Sunday according to the results of our poll of viewers. She only made the final five on last Sunday’s episode when Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie decided to use their one judges save of the season to keep her in the competition. But she has earned only a measly 6% in our survey of “American Idol” fans heading into the Top 5 show on May 12.
The other contestant joining her in the bottom two is likely to be Madison VanDenburg who merited a mere 8% in our poll results. All five singers still in the competition will take to the stage on Sunday to perform a trio of tunes. Each will sing a song from the Elton John catalog, another picked out by mentor Bobby Bones and a third in honor of Mother’s Day.

On the May 5 episode of “American Idol,” the Top 6 sang two songs each: one that was inspirational and the other from the summer of 1969 in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Woodstock music festival. Four of the half dozen contestants made it through based on their votes from the public: Alejandro Aranda, Wade Cota, Laine Hardy and Madison VanDenburg. A fifth, Laci Kaye Booth, got the judges save while the other artist in the bottom two, Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon, was eliminated.
We asked for your predictions as to which of these remaining five finalists will go all the way to win season 17. “Idol” fans are divided between two of the artists: Alejandro Aranda has 41% of the viewers vote as of this writing and Laine Hardy is at 30%. While Alejandro is about where he was last week (40%), Laine has added five points to his total. Much of that support comes from fans of Jeremiah.

On Sunday’s “American Idol,” two of the Top 6 contestants were facing elimination: Laci Kaye Booth and Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon. Although they performed at the top of their game, in the end their rival finalists got more of America’s votes. That meant that these two talents fell just short of making the Top 4 who were guaranteed a chance to sing again on May 12.
That leading quartet of vote-getters as revealed by Ryan Seacrest are: Alejandro Aranda, Wade Cota, Laine Hardy and Madison VanDenburg. The only way for either Laci or Jeremiah to join them was if the three judges used their one save of the season to throw them a lifeline. And, after an agonizing few minutes, that is just what Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie did. (Vote in our ‘American Idol’ winner poll.)
Laci got the good news in the closing seconds of the show while Jeremiah was sent packing.

The Sunday May 5 episode of “American Idol” spotlighted the Top 6. Each of these half dozen finalists sang two tunes: one from the summer of 1969 in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Woodstock musical festival and another chosen as inspirational by Grammy-winning Christian singer Lauren Daigle, who got her start on the show.

The bottom two — Laci Kaye Booth and Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon — were to be eliminated unless the judges chose to use their single save of the season. After a nerve-wracking few moments, Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie opted to throw a lifeline to Laci.

Sunday’s “American Idol” episode showcases the Top 6 who will sing two songs each: one that is inspirational and the other from 50 years ago. If the viewers vote along the lines of their responses to our recent survey, it will be the end of the road for the two remaining women in the competition: Laci Kaye Booth and be Madison VanDenburg. Two of the four fellows still standing also look like they could be in trouble: Wade Cota has just 12% of the vote count while Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon sits at just 10%. Adding together the support for these four contestants comes to 36% of the total.
That sum is easily eclipsed by Alejandro Aranda, who has registered an impressive 38%. His closest competition, Laine Hardy, has risen to 26% of the vote to date.

What could have been a brilliant show on “American Idol” last night ended up being a series of missed opportunities and bone-headed choices — with just enough fine performances in-between to keep you watching.
Like many, I was looking forward to watching Season 8 runner-up and current Queen front man Adam Lambert help the remaining eight wannabe stars step up their game as they tackle the iconic British rock band’s catalog of songs. But it didn’t take long after the contestants sang “We Will Rock You” during the opening for me to realize that this episode might be a rocky enterprise at best.
Let’s start with the positive, though. Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon definitely won the night (see video above). Not only were his church pastor father and mother — who weren’t pleased when he recently told them he was gay — have since reconciled with their son and were in...

Queen frontman and “‘American Idol’ legend,” to quote host Ryan Seacrest, returned to where it all started to mentor the current season’s top eight finalists for a Queen-themed night of hits.
It’s hard to believe that just 10 years ago, Lambert first performed with Queen on the “Idol” stage and began his journey with the legendary band. The story of his rise from reality show star to international rock star will be explored in a documentary airing on ABC Monday night (April 29): “The Show Must Go On: The Queen and Adam Lambert Story.”
Lambert marked the occasion with the debut of a new, long-haired look, which, coupled with a classic poofy shirt, took contestant Walker Burroughs by surprise. “You look like a pirate,” he exclaimed.
Ever the gentleman, Lambert remained unfazed, immediately putting Burroughs at ease for his mentoring session.
As a mentor, Lambert is a true scene stealer.

Hey, "American Idol" fans. Happy Sunday. Your top 8 finalists definitely did compete tonight, April 28, 2019, and after it was all said and done, only 6 were left standing. They performed songs from the Queen catalog. Former season 8 runner up and current Queen lead singer ,Adam Lambert, mentored the Idol finalists this week. The viewing audience ,once again, watched Live and voted simultaneously to ultimately vote out two unfortunate contestants. The judges: Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan were, of course, on hand, and they still all had the opportunity to use a "save" on one of the singers to keep them in the competition if they got voted out. Tonight's show kicked off with the top 8 contestants performing a group number. They sang one of Queen's very classic hit songs, "We Will Rock You." After that, contestant Walker Burrough hit the stage to sing, "Crazy Little Thing Called Love." Katy told him,...

American Idol‘s remaining eight finalists took on some of Queen’s greatest hits on Sunday, and by the end of the night, only six were left vying for the throne. But eight solo performances do not a two-hour event make, so Idol‘s final eight were also paired up for a series of (mostly successful) duets from other artists.
Before we get to the results, let’s break down all of tonight’s performances…

Rami Malek is on top of the world.
The Bohemian Rhapsody star has scored a Best Actor Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody, won the Golden Globe and has been lucky when it comes to finding love.
Malek, 37, confirmed his romance with his costar Lucy Boynton at the Palm Springs International Film Festival’s Film Awards Gala earlier this month with a sweet shoutout to the 24-year-old actress while accepting the award for breakthrough performance.
“Thank you, Lucy Boynton. You have been my ally, my confidant, you are my love,” he said. “I appreciate you so much.

Put Rami Malek high on the last for best film performances of 2018. As Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of the British band Queen, the Mr. Robot star performs miracles, catching the look, strut and soul of Mercury, who died of complications from AIDS in 1991. Sadly, the film itself shows signs of a difficult birth. Sacha Baron Cohen was set to play Mercury before he left over creative differences. And director Bryan Singer (X-Men, The Usual Suspects) was fired for not showing up on set (an uncredited Dexter Fletcher replaced him).

The new single off Kentucky country vocalist Dillon Carmichael’s just released debut album, a rip-roaring Zz Top cover by Whitey Morgan and Leyla McCalla’s brassy protest song are among the must-hear country and Americana tracks this week.
Fairground Saints, “Somewhere Down the Line”
Set to a kick-drummed pulse, “Somewhere Down the Line” marries the coed Californian harmonies of Fleetwood Mac with the polished punch of modern country-pop. “I’ve got a full tank of gas and some money,” goes the chorus, stacked high with layered vocals, banjo and pedal steel.

Don’t worry, you don’t have to hear Rami Malek sing. Instead, the soundtrack to the film, which stars the Mr. Robot actor as Freddie Mercury, is mostly a compilation of original versions of the band’s greatest hits, from “Somebody to Love” to “Bohemian Rhapsody” to “Another One Bites the Dust.”
What makes this interesting, though, are the bits in between the hits. Unless you’re a diehard, the live versions of “Keep Yourself Alive,” “Fat Bottomed Girls” and “Now I’m Here” sound fresh and crisp (the...

“Whereas fellow retro-loving diva Lana Del Rey played the coy, gothy California dreamer, King came on like a butt-kicking rocker-heroine wailing through her pain,” writes Christopher R. Rami Malek is spending some quality time with his Bohemian Rhapsody costar Lucy Boynton.
The two were spotted grabbing lunch together in Los Angeles on Saturday. Malek and Boynton walked arm-in-arm as they left the restaurant together.
At one point, they were even seen kissing while sitting next to each other at lunch.
The Mr. Robot star dressed casually for the outing in a blue, white and red bomber jacket with a pair of black jeans. Boynton wore a pair of pinstripe overall shorts over a simple white shirt for the date.

United Talent Agency has signed rapper, actor and producer Common in all areas.
The Chicago-born Mc first emerged in the early 1990s as Common Sense and simplified his name to Common by the time he released his first full-length, “Can I Borrow a Dollar?,” in 1992. Two more indie albums followed before he inked with McA (now Universal) for the release of “Like Water for Chocolate” in 2000, which was recorded in collaboration with Questlove and other members of the Soulquarians collective, who also worked on contemporaneous albums by D’Angelo and Erykah Badu. He moved over to Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. label in 2005 and recorded the album “Be” with him. Common’s two most recent albums, including 2016’s “Black America Again,” are on Def Jam; he recently formed the hip hop group August Greene along with Robert Glasper and Karriem Riggins. He has won three Grammy Awards out of 20 nominations, for “Glory,...

The upcoming film Bohemian Rhapsody explores the life, music, and loves of legendary Queen frontman Freddie Mercury. Starring Rami Malek as Mercury (and with an obviously killer soundtrack), Bohemian Rhapsody is expected to be the cinematic celebration Queen fans have been waiting for. But it wouldn't be a Mercury biopic without exploring the singer's greatest love: Mary Austin.
Austin, who is portrayed by Lucy Boynton, was Mercury's longterm friend and ex-girlfriend. According to Queen keyboardist and cofounder Brian May in the 2000 documentary Freddie Mercury, The Untold Story, May and Mercury would often frequent London fashion house Biba in order to have a peek at the retailer's gorgeous female employees. One of these shop girls was Mary Austin, who May took out on a few dates before introducing her to Mercury. In the documentary, Austin recounts Mercury routinely visiting the shop in order to see her.

There's no denying that the first trailer for the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody is a rocking celebration of the band, especially its lead singer, Freddie Mercury, played by Rami Malek. Despite its musical flourishes and impressive shots of Malek seeming to effortlessly inhabit the iconic singer's persona, the trailer doesn't give away much about the actual plot of the movie.
Bohemian Rhapsody is set to explore the rise of Queen straight through until their legendary performance at the Live Aid benefit concert in 1985 - at least, that's what the maddeningly vague synopsis says. In truth, there's so much more to Mercury's story than just his hit songs, and his real-life tragedies and triumphs appear to be hiding in the margins of the trailer, as well as in the casting details for the film.
