Spoiler Alert: This interview contains spoilers from the first five episodes of “Dark Matter,” now streaming on Apple TV+.
Blake Crouch ostensibly writes sci-fi stories; his mind-bending suspense novels “Dark Matter,” “Recursion” “Upgrade” are set in worlds where technology presents an opportunity to visit other dimensions, time travel and advance one’s brain and body to superhuman levels. But what makes Crouch’s work so special is that his books are love stories as well.
It’s certainly true of “Dark Matter,” his 2016 novel that he adapted into a limited series, currently airing on Apple TV+. Joel Edgerton stars as Jason Dessan, a loving family man who is kidnapped by a Jason from an alternate universe so that the two can swap lives. Jason2, as Crouch refers to him, finally gets to live out his life with wife Daniela (Jennifer Connelly) and son Charlie (Oakes Fegley.) Jason Prime, however, is...

Joel Edgerton stars as a man abducted into an alternate version of his life. A "Suits" comeback wasn't on anyone's 2023 Bingo card, yet it was a huge year for the USA Network lawyer series. When the show dropped on Netflix last June, it became one of the streamers' biggest hits, reportedly accruing 3 billion minutes watched every week for much of the summer. The series' creator, Aaron Korsh, suspected its resurgence had something to do with the show's relatability and "inherent optimism," as he told The Hollywood Reporter in August 2023. But the show's cast could have also had something to do with it: future ex-royal Meghan Markle starred in the legal procedural for its first seven seasons alongside leading men Patrick J. Adams and Gabriel Macht.
When "Suits" started, USA Network seemed to have already established a pretty standard formula for success: cast hot people, write fast-paced scripts, and keep storylines adventurous. It worked for shows like "Burn Notice" and "Psych," and given the longevity of "Suits,...

When the Writers Guild of America announced their 2023 nominations, the Episodic Drama category featured installments from juggernaut contenders “Better Call Saul” and “Ozark” and breakout series “Bad Sisters” and “Severance.” It also featured one surprise — and absolutely inspired — entry: the series finale of Paramount+’s “The Good Fight.” Written by series co-creators Michelle King and Robert King, the episode is the first of this critically-acclaimed legal drama and political satire to earn a nomination from the guild. Could that unexpected bid signal another surprise nomination at the upcoming Emmy Awards?
Both the WGA and the Emmys have certainly shown their appreciation for the Kings before for “The Good Wife,” the predecessor series to “The Good Fight.” At the Emmys, they earned their first Drama Writing nomination for the pilot back in 2010 and a bookend bid for the series finale “End” in 2016. Liz Truss resigned from her position as Prime Minister on October 20, making her 44-day tenure the shortest in history.” 528 times.) But as any true pop culture fanatic knows, six weeks can be an eon in terms of TV. That’s how long it took for the second season of “Fleabag” to air!
Of course, not all shows are able to hang on as long as Truss did — with the notable exception of “Joey”; at least Truss is leaving with a shred of dignity intact. While the political pundits discuss what will happen now, let’s take a look at six infamously short-lived series that got pulled before Truss did.
1. “Emily’s Reason’s Why Not”
Length of Run: 1 week
Poor Heather Graham. This rom-com about a self-help book editor struggling with her dating life aired exactly one episode in 2006. Maybe Truss herself compiled a list of reasons she should not remain in power.

Warner Bros. Discovery has had a rough go of it recently. The newly-formed mega corporation’s decision to callously prune HBO Max’s servers of hours of content has led to mountains of bad PR and billions of dollars in market cap losses. Suffice it to say, a jam-packed list of new HBO Max releases for September 2022 would provide some welcome relief for the “House of the House of the Dragon.”
Unfortunately, HBO Max’s new releases this month are uncommonly light. It’s impossible to say whether this is the result of more Wbd meddling or simply some bad scheduling luck but either way it’s not going to make any executives’ seats less warm. There are only a handful of notable originals this month, led by season 2 of the Spanish language comedy Los Espookys on Sept. 16. That is joined by a pair of documentaries, Escape from Kabul on Sept.

After a stellar 2017 full of exceptional TV shows, we almost forgot that we might have to say goodbye to a few of them in the following year. Now that we've reached November, plenty of networks have already given shows like Good Behavior, One Mississippi, Damnation, Ghosted, Roseanne, and The Break With Michelle Wolf the ax. Amazon and Netflix have been big offenders, but series on networks like NBC, The CW, and ABC aren't safe, either. Pour one out for the shows that have taken their last TV gasp ahead.

It's the end of the line for Letty and Javier.
TNT has canceled Good Behavior after two seasons, according to executive producer Chad Hodge.
"With a heavy heart I have to let you know that Good Behavior will not return for a third season on TNT," he said at the top of a lengthy statement on Instagram, adding:
"I’ve always said I could write about Letty and Javier for 500 episodes. Their relationship and place in the world live on the edge of something unique and beautiful and I’m more proud of creating their story than anything in my TV career thus far."
