We finally got the excitement we've been waiting for all season!
After twelve episodes in which nothing terribly jaw-dropping happened but several big questions formed for viewers, Chicago Fire Season 12 Episode 13 delivered a season finale that delivered all the heat we've been missing.
This was the perfect way to cap off the season, and I'm satisfied with how the episode concluded.
This is the first time all season that I can remember feeling on the edge of my seat.
As always, a lot was going on throughout the hour, but it felt cohesive and organized.
There was some suspense, but so many of the questions we've been asking for months have been answered, and I feel so relieved.

For many reasons, Chicago Med Season 9 Episode 13 was one of the most heartbreaking episodes, yet it never veered into depressing territory
Between tearjerkers, it managed to set up some cliffhangers for season 10 that'll keep viewers talking all summer. Well done!
Dr. Marcel's Pain Was As Scary As It Was Heartbreaking
Crockett Marcel has been headed for a fall recently.
He's been a little lost since the Or 2.0 debacle on Chicago Med Season 8 Episode 22, and one patient after another left the hospital under tragic circumstances.
Even before Colin and his father died, Colin's case was too much. It's still unclear why Marcel suddenly decided not to give Colin the liver, but the payoff in this heartbreaking story was worth it.

Exclusive: Death and Other Details co-creator/executive producer Mike Weiss has joined CBS’ drama series FBI as executive producer and showrunner. Meanwhile, Allen MacDonald has been tapped as executive producer and showrunner of NBC’s Chicago Med. Both Wolf Entertainment/Universal Television dramas are Top 10 broadcast series in Live+7 Nielsen viewership.
Weiss and MacDonald fill the showrunner vacancies left by the departures of veterans Rick Eid (FBI) and Diane Frolov and Andy Schneider (Chicago Med) who had been at the helm of the two series from the start. (Eid continues as showrunner of Wolf’s Law & Order.) The showrunners of the remaining FBI, Chicago and Law & Order series are staying put.
FBI, which recently scored a three-year renewal from CBS, is headed to its seventh season; Chicago Med is going into its 10th season.

Many Chicago P.D. fans loved watching Hailey Upton and Jay Halstead on the program.
The two detectives helped lead the Intelligence unit, all while working hard for Hank Voight.
The duo began dating and eventually got married, with fans giving them the relationship name Upstead during that run.
Early in Season 10, actor Jesse Lee Soffer appeared in his final episode. It meant the writers had to write out Halstead.
It was a difficult moment for Upstead fans, who pushed the hashtag UpsteadForever to draw continued interest to the characters.
As the final episode for Upton approaches, Chicago P.D. fans have the hashtag trending again on social media.

The last Chicago P.D. episode for Tracy Spiridakos arrives on Wednesday, May 22. NBC released early images from that episode.

Hank Voight is in harm’s way during the Chicago P.D. season finale.
During the penultimate episode of Season 11, Voight was taken from his home after being seemingly drugged.
It appeared that Voight had been drugged, leading to hallucinations and immobilizing the Intelligence leader.
As Intelligence began zeroing in on a lead suspect in the serial killer case, his team had no idea that Voight had been taken.
When Detective Hailey Upton went by his house, she became suspicious that his car was there, his backdoor was unlocked, and Voight was missing.
Was Voight about to become the latest victim of a serial killer that had plagued Intelligence for most of the season?

The Chicago P.D. Season 11 finale will likely wrap up an intense serial killer case, with fans fearing one particular casualty.

Chicago Fire is about to close its doors on Season 12.
The season has been a bit disjointed due to having fewer episodes. Losing cast members didn’t help.
Kara Killmer ended her run as Paramedic Sylvie Brett, and Alberto Rosende finished his time as Firefighter Blake Gallo.
Gallo’s replacement also left. That role was Firefighter Jake Gibson, played by Rome Flynn for a few episodes.
Jack Damon (Michael Bradway) has replaced Gibson, while Lizzy Novak (Joselyn Hudon) has replaced Brett. Will they last? Stay tuned!
Unfortunately, another series regular ends their run on the season finale.

The worst part of being an Ed doctor is giving bad news that amounts to a death sentence.
Chicago Med Season 9 Episode 12 had Marcel struggling to get the transplant board to allow him to hold onto a liver while a young patient recovered from an infection, only for him to change his mind at the last second.
His sudden change of heart didn't make sense, especially considering how arrogant and insensitive Dr. Morris was about the procedure throughout the story.
Why Did Marcel Change His Mind?
Dr. Marcel butted heads with Dr. Morris throughout the hour.
Morris was skeptical of whether Marcel could successfully do this procedure, demanded repeatedly that someone else be given the liver, and complained that the transplant committee meeting was a waste of time when he didn't get his way.
The climactic scene involved Sharon saying Marcel made the decision and Morris whining about it. Then,...

NBC has unveiled its 2024 fall schedule, which highlights franchise dramas, two nights of laughs, unscripted hits, live specials, and holiday programming. All new series will stream the next day on Peacock along with the rest of NBC’s entertainment lineup.
Three new series are set to premiere in the fall, including the drama Brilliant Minds, starring Zachary Quinto and inspired by the true story of a revolutionary, larger-than-life neurologist, Oliver Wolf, and his team of interns as they explore the last great frontier — the human mind — while also grappling with their own relationships and mental health.
Also coming is St. Denis Medical, which stars Wendi McLendon-Covey, Allison Tolman, and David Alan Grier and is from co-creators Justin Spitzer and Eric Ledgin. It brings the laughs with a mockumentary about an underfunded, understaffed Oregon hospital where dedicated doctors and nurses try their best to treat patients while maintaining their own sanity.

And there is a big exit coming on the season finale as well. It will certainly shift the show’s tone for the next television season.
This one rivals the recent exit of Kara Killmer, who played lead paramedic Sylvie Brett for many years.

And just like that, Charles changed his mind about whether Ripley should fight the lawsuit.
Chicago Med Season 9 Episode 11 featured Ripley getting triggered at his deposition while dealing with more of Scully's nonsense.
Ripley didn't mind Charles stepping in on his behalf, but I'm not nearly as calm about it as he is.
Ripley Should Have Made This Decision Himself.
Maybe it's the Don Quixote in me wanting Ripley to keep tilting at this windmill, but I don't think he should have backed down from the lawsuit.
Charles encouraged it in the first place because Pawel lies with impunity and uses his influence to intimidate people into not holding him accountable.
Those are damn good reasons to stand up to him.
Charles was worried about Ripley's mental health, but does deciding for him that the lawsuit should end help things?

Choosing paths to success is extremely difficult. You have to try many ways, fail a few times, and after some time you'll find the way that suits you best and grow naturally. Well, at least that's the first way of thinking. But there's another one... easier.
Copying someone's success story can be tricky: yes, you seem to be following the same rules and doing the same things. So you would think that the results would be the same as those of the people you are inspired by. But the thing is, life is so unpredictable that what worked for one person will never work for another.
And, of course, both of these methods are used in business. For example, there's a way to take several highly-rated shows in a universe and spin them together to create a whole new huge universe that spans multiple stories. The perfect example is NBC's One Chicago franchise,...

There was always a chance Steve would be autistic, but can The Good Doctor do this story justice?
The Good Doctor Season 7 Episode 8 bounced everywhere with this storyline.
Shaun fretted about Steve and had flashbacks of his father's mistreatment, while Lea's good reasons for not wanting to do a brain study were dismissed in favor of her having some unaddressed fear of having an autistic child.
This isn't the best way to tell the story. The Good Doctor should have done a time jump at the beginning of the season like Chicago Med Season 9 Episode 1.
That would have given the series enough time to develop a story about STeve's potential autism instead of waiting until almost the last minute and rushing things.
Steve's Autism Story Could Be a Powerful Addition to The Good Doctor's Legacy... Or Not.

Some disappointing Chicago Fire spoilers have just been revealed.
Eamonn Walker, who has played Chief Boden on the NBC drama for 12 years, is out as a series regular.
The previous episode of Chicago Fire showed what a Bodenless Firehouse 51 looks like, as Kelly Severide (played by Taylor Kinney) was left in charge.
That’s not a temporary situation, it turns out, as bad news has been revealed about the future of Chief Boden
Boden has served as a father figure for the family at Firehouse 51. Even when he took a new position, he had his office at the firehouse.
But now, some heavy hints have been revealed about the character’s future. It will mean a shift in the tone for the One Chicago show.
Eamonn Walker is no longer a series regular
According to Deadline, Eamonn Walker is stepping away as a series regular. It means he will no longer be a primary character.

A new episode of Chicago Med focused much of its time on a doomed helicopter trip but also said goodbye to another doctor.

Chicago P.D. Season 11 is winding down with only a few new episodes that remain.

Chicago Fire is back following the long spring hiatus and has some exciting new episodes for May.
The May 1 episode of Chicago Fire introduced a new firefighter – and he has several people from Firehouse 51 suspicious.
We also saw Violet Mikami enamored with the new paramedic Lyla Novak, (played by Jocelyn Hudon).
The new firefighter and paramedic help bring youth to Firehouse 51, and the characters could be on board for Chicago Fire Season 13.

Led by ‘Tracker,’ CBS Declares Early Viewership Victory for the Truncated 2023-2024 Broadcast Season
Though the 2023-2024 TV season isn’t over yet, CBS is on track to maintain its title as the most-watched network for the 16th season in a row. Provided it stays on top over the next month, the broadcaster would break its own record for the longest-ever winning streak, which was set between 1955 and 1970.
According to Live + 7 data measured by Nielsen through April 21, CBS is averaging 5.59 million viewers, putting it 580,000 ahead of its closest competitor, which is NBC with an average 5.01 million viewers. ABC and Fox trail behind at 4.29 million and 3.35 million viewers, respectively.
The winning lineup is led by “Tracker,” the Justin Hartley-led drama series that is not only the most-watched new series of the season but the most-watched series overall. Behind “Tracker,” CBS also has the next three most-watched shows: “NCIS,” “Young Sheldon” and “FBI.” The No. 5 series is NBC’s “Chicago Fire,” followed by two more CBS titles,...

It’s time for some “CSI: Nielsen Ratings.”
CBS is set to win the 2023-24 season as the most-watched network — again — it’s now been 16 straight seasons of the same. CBS has now broken broadcast television’s longest winning streak on record, which was also CBS: From 1955 to 1970, when “Gunsmoke,” “The Andy Griffith Show,” and (some of) “I Love Lucy” ruled its airwaves.
Fast-forward 50 years to the current TV season, which runs from fall (September) through spring (May), and CBS has won 21 of the past 22 years. CBS is also poised to win the season among adults 18-49, long-considered the key demographic for advertisers, as well as its own target market, viewers 25-54. It is also number 1 this year among 18-34-year-olds; Super Bowl Lviii sure helped CBS pull those victories out of its football helmet.
How big was the 2024 Super Bowl? Well, 123.4 million total viewers tuned in across multiple platforms,...

Dr. Charles could have had a powerful story.
He spent the hour trying to find answers about a patient's suicide while her husband refused to let her go despite her irreversible coma. Chicago Med Season 9 Episode 10 offered a sad story, but it wasn't as emotional as it might have been because of how it was all resolved.
[Note: This review contains discussions of suicide that could be upsetting for some readers.]
The story started perfectly, with June's husband asking why his wife chose to end her life and blaming himself while Charles reassured him that it wasn't his fault.
Nathan: What if the problem was me? Bad husband, neglecting her... what if I"m ther season she jumped?
Charles: Nathan, no. The reasons people take their own lives are mysterious and complex and it's rarely any one thing or one person.

Charles' reassurance probably seemed like empty words to Nathan.

Chicago Fire is finally back with a brand new episode tonight!
Every One Chicago show – including Chicago Med and Chicago Pd – have been on a long hiatus since April 3, 2024, and you may be wondering why.
Keep reading to find out more…
If you don’t recall, this season began with four weeks of new episodes after it premiered on January 17, 2024. Since then, there’s been a very inconsistent schedule of reruns vs. new episodes.
The reason why the schedule is so on-and-off is because of the strikes that happened last year. Chicago Fire has proven itself over the course of its twelve-season run.
One of its most senior cast members, Taylor Kinney, has given the show (and its fans) plenty to love in his years of playing Kelly Severide.
Because Kinney took a leave of absence during Season 11 following a mysterious personal matter, fans have long feared that a more permanent absence could be on the horizon for Severide.
Given how much character development had been invested into Severide, it's obvious why the show opted to keep his future open while Kinney was on leave.
Good thing, too, because he came back in Season 12 with a bang and seems to be home for good — at least for now.
Severide and his relationship with his wife, fellow firefighter Stella Kidd, have been a huge point of interest for the show.
Fans love their chemistry, and we all enjoyed watching them get their happy ending.
