Spoilers for "Star Wars: The Acolyte" Parts 1 and 2 follow.
"I do not believe the Sith could have returned without us knowing," Mace Windu told Qui-Gon Jinn during the events of "The Phantom Menace." "The Sith have been extinct for a millennium," Jedi Master Ki-Adi-Mundi added.
As we all know that a millennium lasts a thousand years, it seemed unlikely that the Sith would be involved with "Star Wars: The Acolyte." Most of us assumed the Jedi would have had no interaction whatsoever with the secret line of Sith that led to Darth Sidious and his destruction of the Jedi until Darth Maul revealed himself to Qui-Gon on Tatooine.
But "The Acolyte" seems as though it could upend everything we knew about the involvement of the Sith and their quest against the Jedi in the time period the show takes place in, 100 years prior to the events of "The Phantom Menace.

The best Star Wars projects in recent years are the ones that stray from the original story.
From “Rogue One” to “The Last Jedi” to the animated “Visions” and last year’s “Andor,” the franchise finds its footing by taking risks and focusing on original stories that just happen to be set in a galaxy far, far away. With the middling quality of so many other Star Wars offshoots since Disney+ launched in 2019, Leslye Headland’s “The Acolyte” finds company, mercifully, in the former category, with an intriguing crime thriller set further back than any other live-action entry.
“The Acolyte” takes place even longer ago in the galaxy’s history, during the High Republic Era that preceded even young Anakin Skywalker in “The Phantom Menace.” It’s a time of peace, as the opening text says, but like all peaceful pockets in Star Wars, that gets interrupted. A violent crime...

Review: The reception for Disney-era Star Wars has been uneven, to say the least. While The Force Awakens broke box office records, The Last Jedi became the most divisive sequel of all time, and The Rise of Skywalker pooped the bed for most fans. Still, the anthology films Rogue One and Solo have dedicated fans, which is more than can be said for any of the Disney+ Star Wars series outside of The Mandalorian and Andor. Star Wars: A New Hope opened with Darth Vader confronting the ever-crafty Leia Organa about Death Star plans that were smuggled to the rebellion. Not knowing how the rebel spies found the data at the time, the scene was genuinely terrifying, given the context. However, thanks to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the opening scene of A New Hope has not only lost some of its tension but has become infinitely funnier.

The end of Rogue One sees Leia personally receiving the files that reveal the secret weakness of the Empire’s Death Star. However, the opening of A New Hope, which is set perhaps five minutes afterward, has Leia lying through her teeth about the files, her mission, and her association with the rebels. Attention: The Following Report Is A Rumor. Please Take The Following Story With A Grain Of Salt.
Ever since it was originally announced in 2019, the MCU’s interpretation of the half-human, half-vampire monster hunter Blade has been in production hell. The character, once made popular by the 1998 film, portrayed by Wesley Snipes, has since had a revolving door of creatives and multiple pushbacks in terms of getting the project off the ground.
Bassam Tariq was originally set to direct, with Stacy Amma Osei-Kuffour writing the script, but Tariq left in early 2022 following creative differences. Yann Demange took over directing duties, while Michael Starrbury was brought on to rewrite the script. Later, both Nic Pizzolatto and Michael Green did additional rewrites.
One of the biggest rumors regarding the troubled production is the continued issues with the script. At one point, the film was said to primarily focus on female characters, with...

The Jurassic Park / Jurassic World franchise is continuing – and it’s doing so without any of the leads from the previous movies. The new film in the series is aiming for a July 2, 2025 theatrical release, and when it reaches the screen, it will be introducing us to a new batch of characters. Those played by Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, and Laura Dern are out, as are the ones played by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. So far, we’ve heard that the new Jurassic World movie is set to star Mahershala Ali (Green Book), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton), Rupert Friend (Anatomy of a Scandal), Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Lincoln Lawyer), and a bunch of hungry dinosaurs. Now Deadline reveals that the cast is being rounded out with the addition of Luna Blaise.
Blaise is best known for playing Olive Stone on 62 episodes of the TV series Manifest.

A major A-list star is in talks for a key role in Universal Pictures' upcoming Jurassic World movie, but if he signs on, it will leave a huge question mark over a long in-development Marvel Studios reboot.
THR reports that Marhershala Ali is negotiating to star in the fourth Jurassic World film alongside lead Scarlett Johansson. Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo are also on board in supporting roles, and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Godzilla director Gareth Edwards is set to helm.
Production is said to be gearing up for mid-June in London... which is also around the time Blade is (or was) expected to begin filming.
The trade report doesn't mention Blade, but it seems highly unlikely that Ali would be lining up this Jw role if he was still planning to play the Daywalker - unless the MCU project has been hit with yet...

One fandom's loss is another's gain, apparently. While Marvel Studios has been undergoing something of an identity crisis in recent years, capped by Disney's Bob Iger actually promising to slow down production of movies and shows during a shareholder call while Marvel's Brad Winderbaum recently copped to the shortcomings of the #ItsAllConnected approach, one of the bigger casualties has been the shaky status of the announced "Blade" movie. Starring the great Mahershala Ali as the eponymous vampire hunter, the film has undergone quite a bit of behind-the-scenes chaos, from directorial changes to significant amounts of creative overhaul -- to the extent, in fact, that the star reportedly came this close to parting ways with the studio altogether. Well, Marvel fans can consider this latest development as yet another troublesome sign. Dinosaur fans, meanwhile, have our permission to rejoice.

We’ve been waiting a few years to see if and when the Marvel Cinematic Universe Blade reboot that’s set to star Mahershala Ali of Green Book is going to go into production – and while we continue to wait, Ali is in talks to join former MCU star Scarlett Johansson in the new Jurassic World movie that’s in the works at Universal! As The Hollywood Reporter notes, Ali tends to be very selective and usually avoids Hollywood blockbuster-type projects (aside from Blade), so getting him to sign on for a role would be a big “get” for this project.
If Ali’s deal closes, he’ll be sharing the screen with Johansson (Black Widow), Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton), Rupert Friend (Anatomy of a Scandal), Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Lincoln Lawyer), and a bunch of hungry dinosaurs. As George Miller’s oil and blood-fuelled Furiosa hits the screens, we ponder what makes a great prequel.
Mild spoilers for The First Omen.
There are a lot of bad prequels. There are some good prequels, but a great prequel is a rare thing to come across. They’re like a rare animal, the unicorns of cinema. Some wonder if such a thing even exists, but when you do watch one, it’s really rather something.
George Miller’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga might just be one, a prequel which somehow manages to justify its existence and repeat the exhilarating sense of time and place as Mad Max: Fury Road. I’d be surprised if we saw another action film as handsomely made as Furiosa in 2024. Or 2025. Or 2026.
Prequels are an easy sell for studios, but a hard sell for audiences. For studios, they’re an easy way...

In February 2022, Stellan Skarsgård hinted at a second season for ‘Andor,’ stating filming would commence in late 2022. By April, cinematographer Adriano Goldman indicated a shift from the original plan of five seasons to an expected three.
During the Star Wars Celebration in May, Lucasfilm officially announced a 12-episode second season. Gilroy clarified that the initial five-season plan was unfeasible due to the series’ magnitude, thus opting to conclude with one additional season that seamlessly connects to the events of Rogue One.
Recent reports suggest that the second season of ‘Andor’ will adopt a distinctive format characterized by significant time jumps, posing challenges for the entire production team. Darth Vader remains one of the most recognizable villains in the history of cinema, given how influential the character has been ever since his first appearance. Perhaps one of the most, if not the most, popular characters to come out of the Star Wars franchise, his history and lore have been heavily expanded on across multiple mediums, such as books, comics, television shows, and video games.

‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ is an upcoming Disney+ series set in the expansive Star Wars universe. The concept for the show emerged in 2019 after the premiere of ‘The Rise of Skywalker,’ with creator Leslye Headland expressing her passion for the franchise.
In April 2020, it was officially announced that Headland would be writing and show running a new Star Wars series focused on female characters for Disney+. Staffing for the series had already begun, and it was expected to delve into a unique era within the Star Wars universe, distinct from other projects.
Initially, Headland described her pitch for the show as a blend of “Frozen meets Kill Bill,” drawing from various influences. Recently, producer Rayne Roberts detailed the pitch for SFX Magazine, disclosing that it resonated deeply with everyone present to the extent that tears were shed throughout the room.
Leslye said it was Frozen meets Kill Bill in Star Wars.

In April 2020, it was announced that Headland would be writing and show-running a new Star Wars series centered around female characters for Disney+. Staffing for the series had already commenced, and it was anticipated to explore a distinct era within the Star Wars universe separate from other projects.

James Mangold has had an interesting filmography over the years venturing in various genres and not typecasting himself to a certain type of filmmaker. Films like Girl Interrupted, Walk the Line, 3:10 to Yuma, Logan, and Ford v Ferrari proved that Mangold could competently handle various genres with great relatability and emotional heft.
James Mangold most recently directed Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny
Mangold continued venturing into blockbuster studio filmmaking with 2023’s Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny which did not fare well. He is set to direct an upcoming Star Wars film and franchise producer Simon Emanuel seemingly revealed the film’s title. Ironically, the title has a striking resemblance to an important element of Dune, adding to the discourse of Star Wars being a Dune rip-off.

Star Wars: James Mangold's First Jedi Movie May Have Just Got A New Title With Ties To The Last Jedi
During last April's Star Wars Celebration in London, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny director James Mangold confirmed plans to head into a Galaxy Far, Far Away to tell the story of the First Jedi.
While it's been revealed that this Star Wars movie will be set roughly 25,000 years before the events of The Phantom Menace, few updates have been shared since. That's likely because the Logan director is currently busy shooting his Bob Dylan biopic.
Talking to SFX (via SFFGazette.com), Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and The Acolyte producer Simon Emanuel potentially revealed a new title for a movie we've been referring to as Dawn of the Jedi.
"James Mangold's Jedi Prime is set thousands and thousands of years before [the original trilogy]," he said, "and I'm really excited to see what happens there."
Jedi Prime?
Not only is that a pretty cool name, but it may have major implications for the movie itself.

Star Wars: The Acolyte continues to intrigue and divide fans in equal measure. Despite that latter point, it looks set to be be a crucial chapter in the story of how the Sith returned to prominence before The Phantom Menace.
The Disney+ series reportedly takes place roughly 100 years before the events of that movie, meaning we're likely to meet Emperor Palpatine's Master, Darth Plagueis.
We've seen more than a few glimpses of a red lightsaber in recent promos for The Acolyte, and in an interview with SFX (via SFFGazette.com), executive producer Simon Emanuel revealed that he enlisted action designer Chris Clark Cowan to work on the show.
Why does that matter? Well, he was one of the key creatives behind Rogue One: A Star Wars Story's unforgettable Darth Vader hallway scene!

Star Wars – one of the many phenomena that forever changed the landscape of pop culture in modern history – has brought us stories of unbridled joy, hope, love, friendship, camaraderie, candor, optimism in the face of utter loss, and resolution in the face of utter despair. And yet, there remain aspects of the narrative that are as mysterious today as they were 47 years ago.
After the first chapter of the story premiered with Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, George Lucas established a new dynasty belonging to new-age superheroes who defied the rules and boundaries of this universe to achieve heroic deeds that resound throughout the entire galaxy.

Rogue One is arguably one of the most appreciated Star Wars projects post the Original Trilogy. The spin-off released in 2016 explored how a band of Rebels stole the plans of the Death Star before the events of 1977’s Star Wars: A New Hope.
The Diego Luna film was very different in its style and tonality than the other projects in George Lucas’ space opera franchise. But the project was intended to be even more different, as the makers wanted to give importance to Saw Gerrera in the story.

The John Wick franchise has, in addition to Keanu Reeves’ titular character, given fans multiple stellar characters to be nostalgic about. While the latest iteration ended with Wick seemingly dying at the steps of the Basilica of Sacré Coeur, Donnie Yen’s character has recently received a spinoff, which is set to continue the story of Caine.
Keanu Reeves in John Wick: Chapter 4. | Lionsgate
Yen played a blind assassin in John Wick: Chapter 4, with the spinoff expected to delve into his story following the events of the movie. Regardless, the actor also played an equally memorable role in the 206-released Rogue One, the first installment of the Star Wars anthology series. The movie saw Yen play another badass blind character in the form of Chirrut Imwe, a warrior who believes in the force, and arguably deserves his own spinoff, just like John Wick’s Caine.

In October 2012, Disney dropped a bombshell, announcing their acquisition of Lucasfilm and the entire Star Wars universe. Along with that, they also revealed they’ve also snagged a treatment for Episodes VII-ix directly from the mastermind himself, George Lucas. Yet, amidst the chaos, it was the Star Wars fans who were confused the most.
George Lucas [Photo: Joey Gannon/Wikimedia Commons]As it wasn’t a secret that Lucas was content to bid farewell to Star Wars after Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. He had no intentions of making a seventh installment. Thus, this left room for many to speculate. And the questions raised: Did Lucas’ vision shape the new era of the saga, or did Disney chart a different course entirely?

Nearly a decade back, on CBS’ iconic 60 Minutes, host Lesley Stahl dropped a bombshell question on George Lucas.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story almost gave fans a different ending, but at some point, changes had to happen to deliver the best treatment of the story. The creative team behind the film always intended to end the film with a bang, and that’s to kill off the entire Rebel team.

In the early days of drafting the script, the writers had a different idea where they concocted an alternate narrative. However, they seemed to fear that Disney might not like it because it might be too dark and gruesome.

The John Wick universe continues to grow, with Donnie Yen to get his own spin-off. The film will continue the adventures of his character, Caine.
Keanu Reeves and Chad Stahelski, star and director of the popular John Wick series, may be taking a well-earned break from the franchise, but that isn’t stopping Lionsgate from finding ways to keep the good ship Wick on its journey to box office dollars.
There’s the TV prequel spin-off, The Continental, which has already released, not to mention Ballerina, the recently-delayed spin-off movie that will feature Ana de Armas as an assassin who looks to have graduated from the same killing school that taught John Wick himself.
Gird yourself for more stories from the John Wick universe, though, as it’s been announced by Lionsgate (thanks Dark Horizons) that Donnie Yen’s Caine character will also be getting a spin-off film. It will...

Nearly a decade ago, Oscar-winning cinematographer Greig Fraser was hanging out at one of Roger and James Deakins’ famous barbecues when he was introduced to a French-Canadian man he didn’t immediately recognize. But as soon as he put a face to the name “Denis Villeneuve,” he instantly called to mind two of the filmmaker’s critically acclaimed Canadian films, Polytechnique (2009) and Incendies (2010), as well as his American debut, Prisoners (2013), that he shot with the co-host of that day’s festivities, Roger Deakins. So Fraser and Villeneuve got to know each other that day, before going their separate ways for a few years.
During the intervening time period, Fraser photographed a handful of projects including the first Star Wars spinoff film, Rogue One (2016), as well as the first live-action Star Wars series in The Mandalorian. Okay, we all loved the original Star Wars trilogy. George Lucas’ unique vision defined the space opera genre and gave us some epic movies that we will love for years to come. But remember when the Prequel Trilogy came out? Sure, by the time the Revenge of the Sith came out, fans were more satisfied with the story, but do you remember how much hate was directed towards Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace when it first came out? And it wasn’t just Jar-Jar Binks that people hated – it was the whole concept and many parts of the story.
Yours truly personally liked the Prequel Trilogy and we on Fiction Horizon are quite happy with how well the three movies aged, as fans have been starting to appreciate these movies more and more in recent years, especially after Disney’s Sequel Trilogy. In light of that, Variety...

Darth Vader Wasn’t the Only Star Wars Character That Was Inspired by One of the Best Marvel Villains
Apart from real-life events and people, it is no secret that the huge world of fictional characters and stories often ends up being the inspiration behind other fictional worlds and characters. Whether the creators acknowledge it or not, several similarities can be found among different fictional characters from different fantasy worlds.
While the similarities do not diminish the fame and love for the characters, the similarities, whether intentional or not, establish a special connection between them.
Doctor Doom (Image: Marvel Comics)
And Marvel supervillain Doctor Doom seems to be a popular inspiration as far as George Lucas’ Star Wars mythos is concerned. Apart from being the alleged inspiration behind the iconic Darth Vader, there is another Star Wars character that seems like a rip-off of Doom.

George Lucas is unarguably one of the best masters of science fiction storytelling, and the Star Wars saga only proves just how immensely talented he is. Not only has he created jaw-dropping storylines for this universe, but he has also introduced some of the most out-of-the-world characters. This also includes getting influenced by other universes and basing his own characters on them.

Surprisingly enough, Cad Bane, who is regarded as one of the most dangerous bounty hunters in this sci-fi universe, was created after Lucas was inspired by a character from Sergio Leone’s Dollars Trilogy. But what’s iconic is that this particular bounty hunter is actually based on Lee Van Cleef’s Angel Eyes, the enigmatic character from the Clint Eastwood-starrer trilogy.
