Haven't we been here before, part 2

StudioAT was right regarding that review.

Another theme that is getting repetitive is people suffering from depression or mental illness. How many characters have been disposed of with this theme? These certainly are horrific ailments, but do we have to deal with them EVERY SINGLE EPISODE! Can't the writers come up with some other personal issue? Can't the midwives be happy, contented, and fulfilled from time to time?

It would be refreshing to bring some of the departed midwives back, even for only one episode. This would provide a lot of new material for the writers, and the audience would enjoy catching up with our favorites. Especially we want Chummy to come back - permanently!

Haven't we been here before?

Warning: Spoilers
Nonnatus House is in danger of being closed down - yes, again.

This is the 'Call the Midwife' equivalent of when the detective in 'Death in Paradise' thinking about heading back home to blighty, or when Leopards Den used to be in danger of being shut down in 'Wild at Heart' back in the day.

It's a way of building tension or emotional connection from an audience without being truly successful, because we know the show can't follow through with it until it is properly ending. And to be honest, I think 'Call the Midwife' is probably at a stage now where it should be thinking of wrapping things up.

This is a good episode, there are some new plot beats and elements being thrown in, but it does feel like we are going over old ground in some ways.
