The restaurant began remodeling, and Richie, Marcus and Neil are some of the appointed for the task. Richie is reluctant to agree with his colleagues and behaves stubbornly. He pays the consequences but ultimately seems to have learned the lesson.
We find out Natalie is pregnant and if I didn't get it wrong, she has only told the plumber about it. Meanwhile, Tina and Ebra go to culinary school. It was great to see more of Ebra, who is struggling with something as simple (for trained chefs) as cutting vegetables. He's probably ashamed of being the oldest person there.
Syd celebrates her father's birthday with him. He doesn't agree with his daughters' line of work she chose. It's great how the show makes us emphasize with both sides of the argument: we relate to Syd's passion that has been exposed many times throughout the show, as well as understanding her dad's point of view, since we have also seen how difficult it is to run a restaurant while being financially successful. During this scene, we learn that Syd's mom passed away, thing that she doesn't confess to Carmy (even though she claims trusting him to her father).
Carm explains Syd she'll have to be 100% invested in order to earn a Michelin Star, telling her she can't afford the luxury of worrying about something else. Carmy himself seems to live that way, given the fact that he gives a fake number (last numbers are 01, not 02) to the old girlfriend he runs into at the store.
Pretty good episode, with the highlights being the sweet scene between Syd and her father, and the other one being that intimate moment between Carm and that girl, which is probably the first time in the show we see some sort of romance going on.
