Sex & Nudity

  • The Medusa enemy can be seen with bare chests and barely visible nipples. The entire lower body is a snake tail.
  • Most monster enemies are not clothed, but even on the humanoid enemies no graphic nudity is shown in the game other than with the Medusa.
  • Unequipping all armor reveals your character with tattered shorts (males) or underwear and a bra (females).
  • Some half-naked female NPC's flirt with you in conversation and have the appearance of a prostitute as they stand on the side of the street and do their best to look attractive.

Violence & Gore

  • Frequent combat with medieval weapons and magic. Wolfenstein levels of violence upon enemy deaths. Dead monsters lie in a pool of blood, and the spilled guts of a defeated Minotaur enemy are visible if you pay close attention.
  • Due to the blocky, 90's style of the game, you can easily miss the violence of the pixel art on monsters the first few hours of gameplay.

Profanity

  • Mild. Buying equipment from a blacksmith may result in the line "That's the best d--- [type of item] you'll see this side of the continent!"
  • The word 'wh---' is used once in an exclamation by a story-related character. Viewing this text box is necessary to complete the game.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Some general NPCs can bee seen smoking or drinking from a mug in a tavern.
  • At any of the inns in the game, you can purchase one of many types of liquor. Drinking too heavily results in the 'drunk' status effect and your stats being changed accordingly.
  • The only type of sustenance available in the game other than potions is liquor. Food and water is not necessary in-game as there is no hunger and thirst scale to maintain.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Many areas of the game are dark and maze-like, and enemies quickly appear out of the darkness. Monster-like sounds (including skittering sounds, mysterious groans and unearthly shrieks) are heard, signaling the approach of a monster. This can be even more frightening to inexperienced or low-leveled players, as a sudden *whump* sound behind your back is all that comes before your untimely death.
  • This parental reviewer is very oversensitive.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • Upon his defeat, Imperial Battlemage Jagar Tharn's face melts off and he collapses into dust, due to his life force stored in a nearby gem being cut off. No blood somehow, but it is mildly disturbing in a Raiders of the Lost Ark sort of way.
