Bernie and Bridget go window shopping for a new bed after theirs collapsed the night before. Bridget's parents are concerned that the couple can't afford a nice bed and go shopping for them. Meanwhile, Bridget and Bernie find a good deal on a waterbed and bring it home to assemble. They return home to find Bernie's parents have spent their vacation savings on a bed for the couple that they've placed unassembled in the living room. The couple then find a luxurious bed from Bridget's parents sitting in their bedroom. They face a problem when both sets of parents show up at the same time.
