The strength of the Ark franchise is evident, with the original game getting multiple expansions, and support for years, as well as a highly anticipated sequel starring Fast X star Vin Diesel, and of course the recently released Ark: The Animated Series.
It isn’t too much to say that a large part of the success comes down to the atmosphere created by the Ost of Gareth Coker, an ever-presence throughout all the projects of the franchise, and now in the midst of curating Ark 2’s soundtrack, to boot.
We were lucky enough to discuss this and so much more about himself and his career in the gaming industry over the years, from Prince of Persia to his ‘dream project’, and more!

With a cast led by Vin Diesel and Michelle Yeoh, Ark: The Animated Series tells a familiar fish-out-of-water story in a dinosaur-filled sci-fi package.

“House of the Dragon” Releases Dueling Season 2 Trailers
Are you Team Green or Team Black?
HBO has released two new trailers for the upcoming second season of its “Game of Thrones” spinoff series “House of the Dragon.”
The new trailers, which set the series’ return on the cabler and Max late this spring, respectively focus on Princess Rhaenrya Targaryen (played by Emma D’Arcy), Prince Daemon (Matt Smith), and their black faction, and on Alicent Hightower’s (Olivia Cooke) green King’s Landing team of Alicent.
The fantasy drama series, based on author George R.R. Martin’s book “Fire & Blood,” details the history of House Targaryen nearly 200 years before the events of “Game of Thrones.” Season 1 followed Rhaenyra in her fight to be named the chosen heir of King Viserys I (Patty Considine) and the lead-up to the Dance of the Dragons.

This Halo article contains spoilers.
Yes, that was an actual Halo ring at the end of the latest episode of Halo, “Thermopylae.” At last, Master Chief has made it to the show’s namesake, the superweapon his video game counterpart discovered within seconds of the Xbox title the show is based on. It shouldn’t have been this hard or taken this long for this adaptation to get him there. Like a wide-eyed John-117 staring out at the mythical Forerunner superstructure, I can barely even believe it’s actually happening. Could this cliffhanger lead to another rug pull?
It was only three weeks ago that the show got around to the Fall of Reach, the event in the lore of the games that directly led to Chief and Unsc finding the ring. But instead of getting us there at break neck speed like the game, there were no Covenant ships...

Warner Bros. has been in the news quite a bit this past year. Between talks of possible industry-shaking mergers and the current chaos surrounding "Coyote vs. Acme," it's starting to seem like the best course of action might be to call up whoever it was that let Ryan Gosling do a photoshoot on top of the Warner Bros. water tower, and kindly ask that they let the Animaniacs loose to cause a little chaos and release the movie.
For the somehow uninitiated, the Animaniacs consist of the Warner Brothers Yakko (Rob Paulsen), Wakko (Jess Harnell), and the Warner Sister, Dot (Tress MacNeille), who ruled the '90s with their animated variety sketch series which included shorts centered on equally beloved characters like Pinky (Paulsen) and the Brain (Maurice Lamarche). What separated "The Animaniacs" from its contemporaries wasn't just the biting satire and classic 1930s animation style for the main characters,...

Given U2’s reputation for pushing technical and creative boundaries with its live concerts, it seemed fitting that the band opened the anticipated Sphere in Las Vegas on Friday with its most ambitious and transportive live show ever: an electrifying live performance and visual odyssey that unfolds on Sphere’s enveloping 160,000-square-foot wraparound interior LED display.
Built for an estimated $2.3 billion, Sphere is a big gamble by Msg mogul James Dolan and Sphere Entertainment Co. Aside from the peppy characters, the awe and wonder of the globetrotting adventures, the unforgettable scores, and the inventive action sequences, the reason why the legend of Indiana Jones has gained a cult following since the 1980s is a balanced admixture of facts and fiction when it comes to delving into the intricacies of history and archaeology. Especially the ancient, legendary relics of the past with mystical properties, in order to obtain which a cat and mouse game between the titular character and his rivals ensues, are a point of interest for not only history nerds but the general audience as well. With the fifth and final movie of the franchise making the rounds in theaters worldwide, let us take a look at the significant antiquities that Indy wrestled out of the clutches of the bad guys.

Celebrated Hollywood costume designer Deborah Nadoolman Landis has said the time is ripe for an overhaul of the contracts covering pay and conditions as well as Intellectual Property rights for her profession.
Nadoolman Landis, whose credits include Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Blues Brothers and Michael Jackson’s Thriller video, said costume designers in the U.S. and Canada were routinely making a third less than production designers on the same production.
She suggested that the pay-gap for the profession, which is roughly 80% female, was symptomatic of a larger problem related to women’s pay in general.
“Globally, women make between 25% to 30% less than men in the same job. And that’s true in the movie business as well,” she told Deadline. “Going on basic scale, costume designers make one third less than production designers.”

Syfy is remaining aboard The Ark.
The NBCUniversal cable outlet has renewed The Ark — set aboard a spaceship on a planetary colonization mission — for a second season. The pickup comes a week ahead of the show’s first season finale, set for April 19.
“We couldn’t be more excited to get back into space with the crew of the Ark,” executive producers and co-showrunners Dean Devlin and Jonathan Glassner said in a statement. “Syfy continues to be an amazing partner and home for this series.”
The Ark has been a solid performer for Syfy, with its series premiere in February topping 1 million viewers over three days — the network’s best showing for an original series since Resident Alien in January 2021. NBCU says 6.5 million people have watched at least a few minutes of the show across all platforms (it also streams on Peacock) over the course of the season.

We hoped the upward trajectory of The Ark's quality would continue, but our hopes got vanquished with a less-than-stellar outing.
The Ark Season 1 Episode 8 revealed William Trust's identity to the rest of the crew.
What could have been a significant reveal led to a boring episode of politics, sex, exposition, and arguing.
Kelly's appearance on the ship also seemed to have fizzled, as they only had her flirting with Angus.
Dr. Kabir dealt with the emotions of performing an autopsy while still going through withdrawal.
Dr. Kabir thought she caused the man from Ark Three's death because she failed to perform the surgery when she tried to save him.
She found solace in Dr. Cat Brandice, who agreed to help advise her in her withdrawal.
Kabir was hesitant at first, and who wouldn't be? Dr. Brandice was a celebrity doctor and got thrown into her role on the ship.

Ark One approached another Ark, but what did they find?
The Ark Season 1 Episode 7 contained more than the crew of Ark One bargained for.
Their trip to the other Ark provided strong emotions, especially from our favorite security guard.
Felix, the trustworthy lawman on the ship, had a horrible reveal when finding the dead bodies on the ship: he found his husband.
It surprised him and left him in shock and concern: where's his daughter?
Felix wanted to figure out where his daughter was and if she was on the ship with Robert, his husband.
All hope seemed lost; there seemed to be no survivors on the ship until multiple crewmembers started getting their lives threatened by the remaining survivor.
You read that right, one singular survivor. Another guy lived briefly, but Dr. Kabir couldn't save him. The only other person remaining was a girl named Kelly.

The crew of Ark One dealt with an issue on the ship. Sound familiar?
The disaster of the week trope continued on The Ark Season 1 Episode 5.
A radiation leak caused more panic on the ship while the murder investigation played its final card.
The murder investigation once again took a weird turn: Felix managed to clear everyone (even if Eva argued that she'd kill someone a different way).
Meanwhile, the radiation leak caused havoc across the ship, leading to multiple deaths.
A final plot thread involved Angus and Alicia and their mission assigned by Garnet: find a way to use the new element to their advantage.
This plot got sidetracked by the main two stories, but it was no less critical.
While neither of the two had much hope in creating a weapon or a defensive shield out of it, they still persevered.
Eventually, with both their heads together, they...

Russian director Alexander Sokurov makes weird films, or rather really special ones. Most famous of these is probably 2002's Russian Ark, an absolutely fantastic walk through 300 years of Russian history as displayed in the Hermitage museum, done in one gargantuan take with thousands of extras (and three orchestras thrown in for good measure). His latest film Skazka aka. Fairytale may be his self-proclaimed last one and let's agree that if this is true, it is a pity. For while Sokurov may be an acquired taste and not one for everyone, at least the man has a unique vision and finds interesting ways to tell people about his favorite topics. His films are regularly shown at the International Film Festival Rotterdam, and as I had...

“The Ark” has become Syfy’s most watched premiere in two years since “Resident Alien,” TheWrap can reveal exclusively.
The sci-fi series, which premiered Feb. 1, drew in 1 million total viewers, according to Nielsen Live + 3 delayed viewing data, marking the network’s best premiere among adults 18-49 since “Chucky’s” fall 2021 debut.
Starring Christie Burke, Richard Fleeshman, Reece Ritchie, Stacey Read and Ryan Adams, “The Ark” takes audiences into a dystopian future as it follows a spacecraft known as Ark One, which was assigned to an inaugural mission of planetary colonization. Space travel used to be romantic, both in real life and pop culture. These days, space travel is kind of a bummer. In the real world, rocketship rides are now most associated with billionaires, for whom such trips represent one small step for objectivism and one giant leap for their egos. Meanwhile, on television, NASA is getting spanked by Russia in the space race, and most shows are about voyagers who only venture beyond the atmosphere out of desperation. Whatever happened to genuine interstellar wanderlust?
If anyone was going to bring back Roddenberry-style space romps about quixotic adventurers for whom exploring the unexplored is its own reward, it would be Dean Devlin and Jonathan Glassner. Devlinco-wrote 1994’s “Stargate,” while Glassner helped adapt the film into the durable drama “Stargate: Sg-1.” Both are avowed Trekkies who have spent the bulk of their careers making deep space exploration look rewarding relative to its risk.

The Sharknado franchise is about to take things to a whole new level of ridiculousness. Sharknado 6 will incorporate time travel into the story, and thanks to Bloody-Disgusting, we have a new synopsis to share with you from the European Film Market that gives you some more insight into the absurdity:
All is lost, or is it? Fin unlocks the time-traveling power of the Sharknados in order to save the world and resurrect his family. In his quest, Fin fights Nazis, dinosaurs, knights, and even takes a ride on Noah’s Ark. This time, it’s not how to stop the sharknados, it’s when.
Wow... for any of you who actually watch these films, it sounds like you're in for something... special? I just can't believe that these films are still being made! I guess there's an audience out there that loves 'em.

Amidst all the trailers and teasing that sci-fi fans endure this weekend at Comic-Con, it’s nice to see a little present waiting for them when they hit their laptops this evening. Ark debuted this weekend on Hulu, all at once, in its full nine-episode glory. Right from its unassuming opening, we find female hero Connie (Xena’s Renée O’Connor) whisked away from her couch to some mysterious spaceship biodome—and Ark perhaps? Soon we meet another confused captive (Adam Cardon) who seems to be from another time all together. The two explore their oddly vacant ship—an impressive combination of CGI and constructed set. Yes, this is the same Ark from director Trey Stokes that 60Frames was shopping back in early 2009. Ark was originally created by Robbie Thompson as a graphic novel series that would release on Oni Press, with the web series developed by producers Gabe Sachs...

We hope everyone had a happy holiday season and 2009 is a year of joy and peace for you.
Now that it's January, we are quickly approaching another special date. January 11, 2009 marks Talking Xena's 8th birthday. On January 11, 2001, Redhead and MaryD created The Talking Xena Message Board as a place where Xena and Herc fans could continue to gather after the expected closing of the Official StudiosUSA Xena and Hercules NetForums. Since then, the ownership has passed from Redhead to Ez Ryder and some of the other staff has changed but the most important thing has stayed the same. Xena and Herc fans old and new continue to gather and have fun in our many forums.
As we celebrate TX's birthday, we felt it was a perfect time to express our sincere appreciation to what has made the board a success all these years,...
