Stressed humor
na-0906926 September 2021
Humor is one of the best unique qualities we humans have. It's a mechanism we can deploy to cope with extreme stress and to stop us for a moment from running around in a self-created virtual maze of fear after we get bombarded with threatening information we cannot check or have no control over and ask ourselves: what is really going on? This film just might want to do that.

Artists have always been known to point out developments in society and bring people some light in darker times. I'm surprised not more artists have come forward to help us like that with this Corona theme.

This film is full of symbolism and analogies with what is going on in these corona times and other themes. I leave it to you to make the connections I appreciate what the creators of this film were set out to do, and I hope more artists will step up, but unfortunately for my taste it could have been more open; lighter, less art-y, the meanings less disguised. The film pushes way too much and therefore lacks a relaxing humor that should help us to see things differently and it also presents small puzzles about themes to people whose heads might already be too full with unanswered questions.

All in all too messy unfortunately.

This was tasteless and bad...
paul_haakonsen23 November 2021
Right, well let me just start out by saying that you should not waste your time, money or effort on "Coronavirus Conspiracy", because this movie from writer and director James Sunshine was every bit as tasteless as it was pointless.

This movie was just a swing and a miss, especially since writer and director James Sunshine was treading on a treacherous grounds for even delving into such a project.

The storyline told in "Coronavirus Conspiracy" was boring, pointless and somewhat offensive, especially when you take into consideration the loss that the Corona Virus have left in its wake. So the movie is not something that is fun to watch, not even remotely. Plus the fact that it was poorly written, poorly executed and poor acted just didn't help to sell the product.

Personally, then it is fully and wholly beyond my comprehension why Joseph D. Reitman, John Lehr and Kimberley Crossman even opted to act in the movie. I suppose the persuasion of the allmighty dollar is just too strong for some people.

I didn't even get halfway through "Coronavirus Conspiracy" before I gave up. Partly because the movie was just downright laughably bad and idiotic, but also because there was nothing interesting in it. And let's just be honest, cashing in on a worldwide pandemic is just low.

My rating of "Coronavirus Conspiracy" lands on a one out of ten stars.

Blast of a Film

Really fun to sit down and watch an independent film with a fresh take on issues that have affected all of us for the past year and a half. Strongly recommend giving this a watch and enjoying it.

A comedy about Covid-19, who in their right mind thought this was ok?
TomInLondon25 September 2021
Like making a comedy about The Holocaust! Unbelievable this was made. 4.55 million dead and you make a comedy about it! SHAME on everyone involved!

Worth the watch

While flawed, this movie is worth a watch by any b movie fan. It gets more right than it gets wrong and shows far more creativity than any other film in the coronasploitation genre to date. Recommend.

You need to watch this
thomasdillon1 October 2021
The triggered people that are rating this as a one star without watching it are judging the name of the movie, not this fantastic sci-fi piece about alternate realities and the possible explanation behind the reality that we find ourselves in today. This humorous, insightful exploration of recent events slowly unravels the true cause of recent events. I was transfixed by this movie from the opening credits, and figured out the core premise about a minute before the big reveal. There are just enough clues scattered through the film to help you see where they are going on this highly enjoyable ride. We NEED humor and this topic is NOT verboten as a target to discuss society and conjecture about life in general and how we find ourselves where we are today.

I thoroughly enjoyed this from beginning to end and have purchased it on several platforms to add to my permanent collection of great sci-fi movies. This will be rewatchable many times because you can see where they were dropping hints all the way through it on second and third viewings.

Original and thankfully not about convid
awdboosted955 July 2022
Acting is excellent here and makes the show, its really all about the 2 main characters and how they interact with each other trying to deal with a difficult situation. Lots of LOL moments.

Maybe it should have been titled something else, but its a real shame a bunch of covidiots have rated this 1, its a hidden unappreciated gem.

I had no expectations and I ended up bursting out laughing through the whole movie
mordaviram28 September 2021
This movie is mostly for 15-35yr internet meme culture lovers.

It starts very slow and it takes time to understand what is going on, but once you know more, you can't stop watching. The movie is a masterpiece. It doesn't take itself seriously, it has great humor and jokes and ideas that I haven't seen in any other movie.

This is the perfect meme movie- do not expect anything and expect everything.

Coronavirus Conspiracy has the answers to all Covid-19 questions. Well not really, but it's a fun movie with a great comedy duo that keeps you entertained from beginning to end.

Probably when you see the title you think, oh it will be a common film about coronavirus, well, it's not ;) It's totally worth it.

So I really suggest you to watch it, you will be very surprised.

Indy film ,fun to watch
tomsunshine7 October 2021
First time through didn't appreciate as much as second and third. Mostly because didn't know what to expect. Once understood the talent of the actors to make this work, and the subtler parts of the overall script, found this to be very enjoyable.

Smart, relevant humor - you have to see this!
tashahardy13 October 2021
I laughed from the second I started watching this movie until the end. John Lehr and Joe Reitman were hysterical and their high energy performances, extremely entertaining. Also, great direction and editing and the animation and design was very well done. It was a welcoming break from the politics and horribleness surrounding the virus. Comic relief heals us in the worst of times; we need more movies like this!

Comedy. Not tragedy.
shadedareas9 November 2021
This is a fantastic camp comedy. Reitman & Lehr play fantastically off each other. It absolutely is not what you might think at first reaction to the title. Give it a chance. You will be entertained. :)

End of the World
bettejnb25 October 2021
A fun-paced comedy with great laughs relating to our current state of chaotic affairs in society. A lot of "imagine if this happened" scenarios keep you wondering what the heck will become of us... Excellent acting with many expressive emotions of foolery. Watching again is a must!

Kept us laughing the whole time

I can't wait to show this to my kids in 20 years and watch their reactions. It's amazing how quickly we move past all the wild events of the past several years, and Coronavirus Conspiracy brings it all back while putting it into a hilarious apocalyptic context. Where do I sign up to be a meme economist?

This is NOT a comedy about COVID-19. This is a comedy about space monkeys.
mmdotseth11 November 2021
This movie is absolutely hilarious. If you take the time to watch it, it is absolutely not what it seems on the surface. The comedy duo of two former Geico Cavemen is hysterical. You'll never see bananas in the same light! Or monkeys! If I had to describe this without any spoilers, it is a sci-fi comedy that will surprise you. It's absolutely BANANAS!

Friggin' loved it!
steamingbeastkick21 October 2021
First of all, John Lehr is just a funny son-of-gun. (See Ten Items Or Less, or Quickdraw on Hulu.) I friggin' love him. So I was totally up for this one. And I wasn't disappointed. It was very different than I expected. It was really funny of course, but it also had a lot to say about the current state of things and how we got here. Don't worry though. Nothing preachy or pretentious. Just good stuff. Like I said before John Lehr is really clever. And the other fella, Joseph D. Reitman, was tremendous too. Seriously, do yourself a favor and check it out!

This smart, absurd comedy shows us that Indy film is alive and well!
petersoby6 November 2021
I had absolutely, positively no idea what to expect from this movie, and I'm glad I went into it that way because this is one of the funniest films I've seen in a long time. It makes me miss the day when there were a plethora of small, smart independent films to choose from. And sure, there is a bunch of Bruce Willis and Nicolas Cage, straight to streaming types of generic action movies... But here we have this brilliant, absurd, astute comedy that has such an interesting take on not only the coronavirus... But life as we know it. Where do we come from? What is the universe? Is there a God? What's the deal with Memes??? This movie has very, very, very interesting answers and perspectives for you! The two main actors are totally compelling, fun and engaging to watch. Which is a good thing since they are the whole movie. I couldn't recommend this movie more!!

James Sunshine is a prodigy of a director and writer. I can't wait to see the next masterpiece he creates! He has a lot of potential and has a great future in the action/comedy genre. This movie had a lot of backlash because of its title, which has little to do with the actual plot of the movie. Overall, this movie is a hilarious period piece and buddy comedy about two people losing their minds while being trapped in a quarantine. It reminds me of an Adult Swim special that pays fan service to popular memes and internet fodder. The fact that this crew of independent movie creators got an endorsement from a major production company proves that their next movies will be worth paying attention to.
