Reese Witherspoon and Will Ferrell are not in the mood to share their wedding venue in the first trailer for the comedy feature You’re Cordially Invited.
Amazon released the promo Tuesday for director Nicholas Stoller’s movie that is set to begin streaming via Prime Video on Jan. 30, 2025. The film centers on a father (Ferrell) who learns that the venue for his daughter’s nuptials has been double-booked by a different bride and her wedding-planner sister (Witherspoon). Geraldine Viswanathan, Meredith Hagner and Jimmy Tatro round out the cast.
“Let’s get something straight,” Ferrell warns Witherspoon in the trailer. “If I look out on that dock, and that bride’s not my baby girl, that bride’s going in the fucking lake.”
Witherspoon responds, “I’m gonna kick your ass, and it’s going to be embarrassing because you’re big, and I’m little.”

Prime Video rom-com “You’re Cordially Invited” stars Reese Witherspoon and Will Ferrell in a comedy of errors surrounding the big day.
A woman seemingly plans her sister’s perfect destination wedding but her and the father of a different young bride-to-be find out that they are double booked at a remote resort on an island off the Georgia coast. When both parties decide to share the small venue, chaos ensues and disaster awaits.
“You’re Cordially Invited” is written and directed by Nicholas Stoller, with Geraldine Viswanathan co-starring. The ensemble cast is rounded out by Meredith Hagner, Jimmy Tatro, Stony Blyden, Leanne Morgan, Rory Scovel, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, Ramona Young, Jack McBrayer, and Celia Weston.

Over its four-season run, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend gave us more than 150 original songs paying homage to every musical genre out there, courtesy of writers Adam Schlesinger, Jack Dolgen and the show’s two co-creators, lead actor Rachel Bloom and Aline Brosh McKenna.
The series used its musical conceit to take audiences along for the ride as Rebecca Bunch (played by Bloom) abruptly leaves her high-powered New York life and moves to small-town California to be near her childhood crush. And while the songs all expanded the lives of Rebecca and her friends in hilarious, introspective and occasionally self-aware ways, the best of them can be listened to again and again, even outside the context of the episodes they appear in.
Suffice to say, the bar for creating this list of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend songs was high — but the result is...

Netflix added nearly 30 million global paid subscribers in 2023, though it might have watered down its hit pool in the process.

Digital i defines a “hit” as an original movie or a series that was watched by at least 30 percent of Netflix’s subscriber base in North America, EU, and Latam.
The long list of 2022 Netflix hits goes like this: “Wednesday” (61.8%), “Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” (53.3%), “Stranger Things 4” (48.0%), “The Adam Project” (47.9%), “Knives Out 2” (45.9%), “The Gray Man” (42.4%), “The Watcher” (41.9%), “The Tinder Swindler” (38.0%), “Inventing Anna” (37.5%), “The Sandman” (35.7%), “Senior Year” (35.6%), “1899” (34.7%), “Bridgerton” Season 2 (34.5%), “Troll” (34.0%), “Enola Holmes 2” (33.7%), “Luckiest Girl Alive” (33.4%), “Harry & Meghan” (32.7%), “Hustle” (32.6%), “The Man from Toronto” (31.5%), “Purple Hearts” (31.3%), “Me Time” (31.1%), “Day Shift” (31.0%), and “Falling for Christmas” (30.8%).

Exclusive: Netflix has locked down rights to an untitled adult thriller spec from Michael Werwie, with Jason Bateman and Michael Costigan set to produce for Aggregate Films, sources tell Deadline.
Plot details are under wraps. Falling under Aggregate’s first-look deal with Netflix across film and TV, the sale comes at a busy time for the company, which most recently set up comedy The Chaperone at the streamer, as a potential star vehicle for Bateman. Amazon announced on Thursday that Hello Again, the newest special from comedian Tig Notaro, will premiere on Prime Video on March 26. Check out a clip above.
Directed by Notaro’s wife, Stephanie Allynne, the special comes on the heels of her HBO hour Tig Notaro: Drawn, which made history as the first fully animated stand-up special in 2021. It’s said to be packed with delightfully awkward misunderstandings, health scares made hilarious, and family moments with her wife and children that are simultaneously sidesplitting and heartwarming.
From the “Make Believe Lounge” to the hallway outside her physical therapist’s office, Notaro finds humor in situations ranging from the everyday to the bizarre, crafting comedy out of hallucinatory text messages, a botched meeting with a Hollywood heavyweight, and a late-night encounter with a mustachioed fireman who has her questioning everything.

Tig Notaro is heading back to Amazon — and live action — for her latest comedy special. Prime Video will debut Tig Notaro: Hello Again this March.
The new hour marks Notaro’s first project at Amazon since the end of her two-season Prime Video comedy One Mississippi in 2017 and her first flesh-and-blood taping in nearly six years. Her last special, Tig Notaro: Drawn, made history as the first fully animated stand-up special when it landed on HBO in 2022.
Hello Again follows Drawn, as well as other previous specials 2018’s Happy to Be Here and 2015’s Boyish Girl Interrupted. It is described as including “delightfully awkward misunderstandings, health scares made hilarious and family moments with her wife and children that are simultaneously sidesplitting and heartwarming.”

Reese Witherspoon is going to have fun in the snow this winter, no matter what fans have to say.
The Morning Show actress-producer took to TikTok on Friday to share a video of her making what she called a “snow salt Chococinno.” In the footage, she scoops up snow into a coffee mug from what appeared to have accumulated on a car and then adds salted caramel syrup, chocolate syrup and cold brew on top.
“Ok, so we’ve had a ton of snow over the past few days. We decided to make a recipe,” she said in a voiceover. “Oh my gosh, it’s so good!”

What a year it has been for the biggest streamer in the world.
While the first half of the year was largely known for its widely seen star-studded critical failures, the second half of the year brought many successes. From a hit franchise blockbuster to multiple awards season contenders, Netflix’s year in films was turned around completely and may help them garner some hardware as we march towards the Oscars in March.
While this list may not represent the most-watched films of the year, I believe these to be the best Netflix had to offer over the past 12 months.

Welcome to another rundown of every stat released by the TV insights company Samba TV. Below, we’ll run through all their released viewing stats (whether through their socials or through somewhere else) for Netflix’s newly released movies for the past three years.
How does Samba TV get its data? As described on its own website, the company tracks what appears on the users’ TV by reading pixels and utilizing this data for personalized recommendations on the TV or mobile apps connected to the television.
It’s also important to note that Samba TV stats typically only cover US households.
Of course, Netflix itself releases excellent viewing stats every Tuesday via its top 10 site. However, more data is always good, and it’s good to see shows and movies benchmarked against each other from a company like Samba TV.

The past 24 hours have been awash in headlines about Netflix’s What We Watched report: an information dump that many analysts considered the most transparent accounting of user data that the streamer has ever released.
The report tracked user engagement using an “hours watched” metric – meaning how many hours a piece of content was viewed, as opposed to how many individual users watched it. The report is heavy with TV series because, as the company noted, the amount of hours in a TV program are much greater than that of a standalone feature. But some movies clawed to the top of the ranking, which helps indicate how films travel on the platform.
Here are the top ten films – eight of which Netflix developed or financed — that appear in the report, which tracked hours watched from January to June of 2023:

Reese Witherspoon has been in the spotlight ever since she was a teenager. After gaining recognition for her role in the 1999 teen drama film "Cruel Intentions," Witherspoon became a household name during the early 2000s by starring in romantic comedies like "Legally Blonde" and "Sweet Home Alabama." Decades later, the "Morning Show" actor is still doing rom-coms, like Netflix's "Your Place or Mine," a best friends turned lovers flick she starred in with Ashton Kutcher. In real life, Witherspoon was last married to actor and producer Jim Toth, though they divorced this year.
The former couple tied the knot in March 2011 and welcomed their first child - a son named Tennessee James Toth - in September 2012. Witherspoon also has two children from her previous marriage with actor and "Cruel Intentions" costar Ryan Phillippe. The pair share a daughter named Ava Phillippe and a son named Deacon Phillippe.

Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis are apologizing for writing character letters on behalf of their That ’70s Show co-star Danny Masterson in the rape cases against him.
The actors took to Instagram to address the pain they may have caused with their letters, noting they did not intend to hurt anyone.
“We are aware of the pain that has been caused by the character letters that we wrote on behalf of Danny Masterson,” Kutcher began in the video posted to his Instagram on Saturday. “We support victims. We have done this historically through our work and will continue to do so in the future,” Kunis added, sitting alongside her husband.
They explained that Masterson’s family reached out to them a couple of months ago and asked them to write letters to represent the person they had known for 25 years, so the judge could take that into consideration in regards to his sentencing.

Reese Witherspoon is opening up about feeling like she “didn’t have control over” a sex scene in 1996’s Fear.
During an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, published online Wednesday, the actress, who has been outspoken about creating opportunities for women to feel safe and empowered in Hollywood, recalled an experience she had earlier in her career.
While filming the James Foley-directed psychosexual thriller, Witherspoon, who was 19 at the time, had to film a sex scene on a roller coaster with Mark Wahlberg’s character, who was her love interest in the film. Although she remembers requesting a stunt double to take her place for below-the-waist shots, she noted that she “didn’t have control over it.”
“It wasn’t explicit in the script that that’s what was going to happen, so that was something that I think the director thought of on his own and then asked...

Reese Witherspoon is known for starring in many romantic comedies which included the likes of Legally Blonde and Sweet Home Alabama.
But fellow star Gwyneth Paltow thought Witherspoon was better than some of the other romcoms that she starred in.

Paltrow didn’t mince words when it came to discussing the types of roles available to women actors in the prior decades of Hollywood. Earlier in her career, the Se7en star made it a point to star in only the types of movies she wanted to do. Even if those types of films offered Paltrow small pay days.
“I basically stopped making money from acting in 2002. All the things I’ve done since then have been things I’ve really wanted to do, and I have not made money from them,” Paltrow once told The Guardian.

It’s been a dreadful year — Ok, few years — for romcoms. This year gave us Shotgun Wedding, a J.Lo-starring smorgasbord about a destination wedding overrun by pirates; You People, Kenya Barris’ tone-deaf interracial-dating romcom whose big kiss was faked by CGI; and Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher’s Your Place or Mine, with leads that spent close to the entire movie on opposite sides of the country and had zero chemistry. Enter Ghosted, which is so dreadful it makes the aforementioned films look like When Harry Met Sally by comparison.

Ashton Kutcher wears a lot of hats these days. He’s a producer, entrepreneur, husband, and father. But most know him for his acting in comedies like That 70s Show and Two and a Half Men. His latest film Your Place or Mine is currently streaming on Netflix. Netflix’s You spent a second week at the top of the streaming TV chart — though it fell off a little bit in the week after its fourth season premiered. New Amsterdam also put up more strong numbers on Netflix and Peacock, and The Woman King performed solidly in its streaming debut.
You had 1.47 billion minutes of viewing time for the week of Feb. 13-19, a 15 percent dip from the prior week when season four debuted (despite having three more days to accumulate viewing).

For the second consecutive week, Joe Goldberg continues to lead the competition on Nielsen’s Streaming Top 10 list following the release of “You” Season 4, Part 1. During the Feb. 13-19 viewing window, the thriller picked up 1.47 billion minutes viewed following its Feb. 9 release. That’s a slight fall from the previous week’s opening at 1.73 billion minutes viewed, but remains a solid performance. Part 2 of Season 4 was released on March 9, so it’s expected that the show will continue to stay among the top 10 titles for some time.

Netflix and Peacock both share the title’s catalog. Netflix added two seasons of the series in January. Previously, the show was only available for streaming on Peacock.

Jake Johnson is vowing that there is no new unexpected ending to “New Girl.”
The heartwarming finale that saw Johnson’s Nick end up with Jess, played by Zooey Deschanel, would still stand if there was ever a reunion or revival, Johnson said during a 2023 SXSW panel. The “Self Reliance” director noted that Nick and Jess would not break up since fans last saw the characters in 2018.
“I think they would definitely make it work. I don’t think they would break up,” Johnson said. “They have a kid, they’re jumping around on that bed, you guys know it way more than me. I don’t think Nick or Jess would ever fall out of the commitment to do this thing together.”
He continued, “Liz Merriweather has created a very optimistic show, it’s people who are sweet to each other. So if it’s real and they’re alive,...

‘If You Were the Last’ Review: Zoë Chao and Anthony Mackie Are the Cutest Rom-Com Couple of the Year
“If You Were the Last” officially marks lead star Zoë Chao’s Hollywood takeover. After stealing scenes in Netflix’s return-to-form rom-com “Your Place or Mine” and being a welcome addition to “Party Down” Season 3, Chao leads the indie sci-fi romantic comedy opposite Anthony Mackie. The two leads’ already formidable charisma goes off the charts when they are put side by side. The chemistry? It’s out of this world.
Chao plays astronaut captain Jane, who is trapped in an adrift spaceship with her lieutenant, scientist Adam (Mackie). Three years into a NASA mission, and Jane and Adam are lost, alone with each other, and counting down the days until their inevitable starvation. The film is set in the not-so-distant future where Matt Damon is still around (and still a go-to celebrity to name check), adding a charming familiarity to a film still rooted in the present. The Wes-Anderson-meets-West-Elm mid-century...

Unlike Love is Blind, Netflix’s latest dating reality tv show focuses more on strategy than finding love. The cast of Perfect Match consists of reality stars from various Netflix shows who hook up and fiercely compete to become the most compatible couple in the house.
This binge-worthy competition is cutthroat. The cast of fan favorites doesn’t hold back from ripping other couples apart to get ahead.
‘Perfect Match’ couples solidify their match by bunking up together
Hosted by Nick Lachey, contestants entering the Perfect Match villa in Panema City are familiar faces from Love is Blind, The Circle, Too Hot To Handle, and other popular reality shows.
Each day, their goal is to quickly get to know their housemates and find a match before the end of the night. However, an uneven number of people means two contestants will get eliminated. The pressure to find a partner is high.

As expected, You dominated the Nielsen U.S. streaming charts for the week of February 6 to February 12.
The first five episodes of Season 4 hit Netflix on February 9, racking up 1.7B viewing minutes for the week. Of course, Nielsen doesn’t break down viewership by season, so this includes any catching up that audiences were doing ahead of the latest installment. According to Netflix, Seasons 1 and 3 were also among the Top 10 English-language programs on the streamer that week.
New Amsterdam, which streams on both Netflix and Peacock, took second place on Nielsen’s list with 1.5B minutes viewed that week — up from the No. 3 spot the week prior. Seasons 3 and 4 began streaming on Netflix at the beginning of February, so it makes sense that viewers would be catching up on what they missed.
The Last Of Us notched its second billion-minute week, taking the No. 3 spot this week with 1.1B minutes viewed on HBO Max alone.

“You” returns to Nielsen’s Streaming Top 10 list, leading this week’s ranking of titles after Netflix released the first five episodes of the show’s latest season last month. During the Feb. 6-12 viewing window, the series managed 1.73 billion minutes viewed in its first four days of availability. The second half of Season 4 was released on March 9.
According to Nielsen’s break down, the psychological thriller series attracted an audience very similar to “Friends” on HBO Max with 42% of viewers aged 18-34 and 65% of viewers female.
“New Amsterdam” ranked second on the list with 1.5 billion viewing minutes — that’s up 17% from the previous week and attracted an even more female-skewing audience (68%) than “You.” This marks the second consecutive week that the title has brought in over a billion minutes. Netflix added two seasons of the series in January. Before, “New Amsterdam” was originally only available for streaming on Peacock.

The season four premiere of You brought the Netflix thriller back to the top of the streaming charts — but not at quite as high a level as its previous run.
The first half of the show’s fourth season helped You log 1.73 billion minutes of viewing time for the week of Feb. 6-12. It was far and away the most streamed original show for Super Bowl week — no other original on the services Nielsen publicly reports made it above 500 million minutes — but fell a little short of its last premiere.
Season three of You debuted to 1.94 billion minutes of viewing in October 2021. With several more hours of potential viewing (Nielsen’s watch time rankings encompass a show’s entire streaming library), however, You’s viewing slipped about 11 percent.
Two other titles made it over the billion-minute mark for Feb. 6-12: New Amsterdam, which racked up 1.47 billion minutes on Netflix and Peacock,...
