When I first read the description, I knew the storyline sounded familiar, but it took reading other reviews to remember the original title. Once I had Collateral in mind, I decided that I could fill my time with Mark Dacascos. I mean, he IS a better fighter than Tom Cruise, so surely this would be at least cheesy action fun.
Wrong!
Boring, slow paced, with no really good fights. Too many "interesting" camera tricks and editing choices that really come across as the director being too full of themselves.
Dacascos is an alright actor, but he is the best person in this movie. All the Thai actors would have sounded far less stilted had they been speaking Thai, and that might have even taken the edge of some of the cliche and cheesy dialogue.
I was merely meh about the whole thing until the third act. Then it took a sharp downhill turn into annoying and lame. Someone definitely missed the mark with attempting the drama and story, and should have just made a kung fu version of Collateral.
