Screen Gems has put out a whole lot of horror movies over the years, with titles including The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Don’t Breathe, Resident Evil, Underworld, Deliver Us from Evil, The Grudge, Carrie, The Stepfather, Prom Night, The Pope’s Exorcist, Insidious: The Red Door, and the recently released Tarot – and they’re making moves to ensure they’re going to be seen as a source for interesting horror in the years ahead. They’re working with Platinum Dunes on the “District 9 by way of The Purge“ werewolf movie Wolf Night and recently signed a first-look deal with Gary Dauberman that will see him “creating projects for himself while curating a slate featuring established and up-and-coming filmmakers.” Now Deadline reports that Scott Derrickson, the director of such films as Sinister, Doctor Strange, The Black Phone, and the previously mentioned The Exorcism of Emily Rose and Deliver Us from Evil,...

A few hours down the line, Sony dropped the much-anticipated trailer for Venom: The Last Dance. The third iteration of the franchise helmed by Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock previewed some of the most iconic scenes that it had in store and took fans over by storm. Additionally, it also highlighted a sense of tension and brought forward the fact that it could indeed be the last time that the symbiotic relationship rolls on the screens, at least for the British actor.

The trailer debut also marked Hardy as the only other actor in Sony’s Spider-Man universe to complete a trilogy of movies after Tobey Maguire. Regardless of such highs, the teaser also threw numbing plot inconsistencies. Actor/ director and comedian Jordan Peele has been the mastermind behind some of the most talked about horror movies, including Get Out, Us, and of course, Nope. However, his recent cinematic journey as a producer has not been quite as promising as Dev Patel’s very own Monkey Man, despite the hype, was far from making a splash at the box office.

Certainly, Peele deserves a break, and his recent meeting with Marvel Executives might just change his fate. With the recent report, fans might wonder what project Peele would pick up. While most fans almost believed that he would direct Mahershala Ali’s Blade, we think he might just land on a different exciting project, given Yann Demange is set to direct Blade (if Marvel Studios is still sticking with him).

The idea behind the pact? To bring new genre films to movie theaters.
Specifically, in Deadline’s words, they’ve “signed a first look deal with Sony Pictures Entertainment to produce feature films for Screen Gems under their Crooked Highway banner.”
“We first got to experience Scott’s talent with The Exorcism of Emily Rose. From then on, he and Cargill have excelled in reinventing the genre space by pushing boundaries and tapping into people’s deepest fears. They have an incredible ability to connect with (and scare) audiences. We feel lucky to have them here at Screen Gems and look forward to creating hits and breaking new boundaries with them at our side,” said Ashley Brucks, President, Screen Gems.

The first Venom was scripted by Jeff Pinker, Scott Rosenberg, and Kelly Marcel. Ruben Fleischer directed that film, which made $856 million. The aftermath of Avengers: Endgame had Marvel Studios enter its multiverse saga. A deep dive into the storyline with projects such as Loki, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, marked the beginning of that chapter and threw open the doors to endless possibilities. Furthermore, after its take on Kang saw botched results owing to narrative failures in flicks like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, a revamp of sorts is on the way with Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in Deadpool & Wolverine.

As Captain America: Brave New World undergoes more reshoots, actor Giancarlo Esposito has reportedly joined the cast.
Once set for a July release before being subjected to a lengthy delay, Captain America: Brave New World is currently undergoing a round of reshoots. In the meantime, it’s being reported that Breaking Bad star Giancarlo Esposito has belatedly joined the cast.
Those reshoots are ongoing in Atlanta, Georgia, and will reportedly last for 22 days. Principal photography on the Captain America sequel wrapped over two years ago in spring 2023, but early test screenings prompted Marvel to push its release date back in order for new sequences to be shot.
There have been reports that several major scenes originally filmed have since been edited out, and that the reshoots have been ordered to beef up the action sequences which “were not big or satisfying enough” according to Daniel Richtman's sources.

The House of M is a storyline that a slew of fans want to see play out in the MCU. Ever since Avengers: Age of Ultron introduced Wanda Maximoff into the MCU, fans have been speculating how Marvel Studios intended to do the storyline without any mutants being around.
Now Mutants are headed into the MCU, and Wanda Maximoff, for all reasons and purposes, has been pronounced dead. How, then, will the Marvel Studios work in the House of M storyline into the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

Marvel’s ‘Multiverse Saga’ is all set to end with the climactic cinematic event Avengers: Secret Wars. Even though the film is a long way ahead, the MCU has probably begun to set up the ultimate battle between the Avengers and the multiversal threat. Many antagonists such as Kang the Conqueror and Doctor Doom have been rumored to be the villains.
While the film will definitely see many of the superheroes established from the beginning of the MCU make an appearance, one group that will not be seen is the Inhumans. Debunking a rumor that the Inhumans (as seen in the series) would be appearing in the film, Black Bolt actor Anson Mount ridiculed the page that broke the news and denied his involvement.

While Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness didn't include as many surprises as some fans had hoped for, one of the biggest saw Anson Mount reprise his Inhumans role as Black Bolt.
Decked out in a comic-accurate costume, we finally saw the extent of his powers when his voice reduced Earth-838's Doctor Strange to little more than a pile of dust. However, after he crossed paths with Earth-616's Scarlet Witch, his head was blown up from the inside out.
Whether we'll see more of the Inhumans in the MCU remains to be seen. Former Marvel Entertainment Chairman Isaac Perlmutter tried to force Kevin Feige into making a movie featuring the characters and, when he refused, we ended up with the disastrous Marvel Television series.

The making of the Infinity Saga is as big a mystery to the fans as the entirety of Phase Five’s Secret Invasion. The narrative established in the run-up to Avengers: Endgame proved that the level of planning that was required to pull off the two-part grand finale would make the Time Heist look like child’s play. As the Avengers played pretend on screen, the real superheroes got to work to create one of the most visionary and sprawling spectacles ever dreamed of on film.

In 2021, Kevin Feige retracted his statement supporting the casting of Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One in Doctor Strange. The character is a Tibetan-born old man in the comics, but the casting of Swinton was criticized as another instance of cultural appropriation of Asian characters. While Feige defended the idea during the film’s production and release, he expressed his regret over the casting decision a few years later.

Feige admitted that the film could’ve taken another direction with the character that remained true to the Asian origin of the character. Despite the criticisms of her casting in the film, Swinton did complete justice to the character and was one of the best performers in the film.

In WandaVision, Wanda Maximoff finally became the Scarlet Witch. However, her evolution ended on a tragic note when she was forced to drop the Hex around Westview and bid farewell to The Vision and her children, Tommy and Billy.
When we caught up with Wanda in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the Darkhold had corrupted the Avenger and she went on a rampage through realities to find Variants of her twin boys.
Verging on being a full-blown villain by the time all was said and done, Wanda eventually saw the error of her ways and appeared to bury herself beneath Wundagore. However, that was only after she'd used her powers to destroy every possible copy of the Darkhold in the Multiverse.
It's widely believed that Wanda found a way to survive and there's been chatter online about a Scarlet Witch movie for several months.

Exclusive: Global TV and film studio Sister is gearing up for a string of projects to hit the small and big screens and today might well see the launch of its most daring.
Netflix’s Eric about a desperate father battling his own demons on the streets of 1980s New York as he searches for his missing nine-year-old son features Benedict Cumberbatch and a custom-made seven foot puppet, which is visible only to Cumberbatch’s character, the flawed Vincent. Abi Morgan’s six-part series ties together themes of belonging, addiction, loss and police brutality in a familiar setting. It was described as Sesame Street meets Taxi Driver by one British reviewer, although Sister creative chief Jane Featherstone compared it in scope and theme to Steven Spielberg’s Et.
Speaking exclusively to Deadline, Featherstone said the show is testament to the Chernobyl and This is Going to Hurt studio’s commitment to taking a talent-first approach.

“You break the rules and become a hero,” Wanda Maximoff tells Stephen Strange at the start of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. “I do it and I become the enemy… doesn’t seem fair.”
That line from should confuse some viewers. After all, such rule breaking didn’t occur in 2016’s Doctor Strange, to which Multiverse of Madness is a sequel. It happened in Avengers: Infinity War. And Wanda’s rule-breaking happened in WandaVision. During the drive to Avengers: Endgame, this type of comprehensive world-building was a feature and not a bug of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But it’s become a distraction for some fans, which is why Marvel has rebranded its divisions, into Marvel Film, Marvel Television, and Marvel Animation.

Committed to long-interconnected franchises can sometimes be a chore for the viewers, especially when something is as big as the MCU. It also doesn’t help when newcomers are required to know about the entries that came before to enjoy a new show or movie. One major example is Madness of Multiverse, as fans, who weren’t familiar with the Wanda Vision beforehand, had a hard time piecing it all together in the sequel to 2016’s Doctor Strange.
But Star Wars did combat this issue with Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka, as the showrunners succeeded in making it more accessible to fans, who had no knowledge about her history.

Filmmaker Scott Derrickson helmed the first Doctor Strange back in 2016. The noted horror filmmaker, who was known for his film Sinister handled the first live-action depiction of the Sorcerer Supreme in the MCU. The film received positive responses around the world and was a commercial success, earning $677 million at the global box office.
While Derrickson did a great job with the film, he left the sequel after working on it for a while due to creative differences. Recently, a fan posted a nice detail about the first film which proved why the MCU was great back in the day and why Kevin Feige seemed to have forgotten the kind of creators that were involved in its making.

Following the release of MCU’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, audiences were bewildered with the movie since it was nothing like what they had expected from the 2016 movie’s sequel. Following the grand success of Avengers: Endgame, Marvel Studios has faced quite a few hurdles in maintaining its once infallible consistency. A string of bow office disappointments, low ratings, and major cast changes hurt the production studio gravely and put fans wary and on guard. However, all of the worries should last only for a short while as the Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman collaboration, Deadpool & Wolverine, aims to end the dry spell.

Last year, /Film ranked the 15 best Adam Driver movies, and the number one film on our list was "Annette," the musical written by the unclassifiable band Sparks and directed by "Holy Motors" helmer Leos Carax in his English-language debut. Adam Driver stars in the film as Henry McHenry, a vulgar stand-up comedian who falls in love with an opera singer and fathers a daughter who has an unusual talent, which he promptly begins to exploit for his own gain. "Annette" is a deeply eccentric film, one that certainly isn't for everyone, but Driver is fantastic in the lead role, stretching himself as a performer (his singing voice? Pretty good!) and playing a character who's easy to hate. He's brash, funny, despicable, occasionally ridiculous, and surprisingly emotional, especially in the movie's final scene, where his daughter finally confronts him about his transgressions.
But according to an interview Carax did with Indiewire...

Almost everyone is aware of the unsettling feeling of being observed while doing something, which can shake one’s confidence regardless of their skill or expertise. And filmmaker Denis Villeneuve also experienced this while working on the sequel of Ridley Scott’s sci-fi film, Blade Runner. Released in 1982, the original movie received mixed reviews upon its release. However, it would later go on to become a cult hit.

Decades after the original film’s release, the sequel of the film finally went into production with Villeneuve taking the directorial duties and Scott serving as an executive producer. However, his constant presence on the set was not a very pleasing experience for the Dune director, who politely asked Scott to leave without directly saying it.

Patrick Stewart was determined not to return to the Star Trek universe after his appearance in the film, Star Trek: Nemesis. He conveyed this to Alex Kurtzman when the latter met with him to pitch a series based on his character Jean-Luc Picard. Kurtzman brought along novelist Kirsten Beyer and screenwriter James Duff to convince Stewart that there was a lot to revisit in Picard’s character.

This article contains spoilers for Star Trek: Picard and WandaVision.
“What is grief, if not love persevering?” asks Vision in an oft-quoted scene from WandaVision. The sympathetic synthazoid intended the question as a validation of his partner Wanda’s feelings of despair after losing so much in Avengers: Endgame. But it’s also been a good way to describe the state of Marvel Television since WandaVision finished its single-season run.
When WandaVision debuted on Disney+ in 2021, the show promised an exciting era for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, still then its apparent prime. Not only did the show focus on a fan-favorite, but little explored character, but it also featured a compelling storytelling style well-suited for the television medium. However, what started as a riff on the history TV sitcoms became a standard superhero battle, complete with Vision battling a duplicate of himself.

Following persistent rumors, we got confirmation that a new Disney+ WandaVision spin-off focusing on The Vision was in development at Marvel Studios back in 2022, but it seems the "Vision Quest" project has been completely revamped.
Variety reports that a new, untitled Vision series is in the works, with Star Trek: Picard executive producer Terry Matalas on board as showrunner. The show is currently on track for a 2026 premiere.
Matalas' work on Picard is said to have "greatly impressed the top brass at the studio. Marvel chief Kevin Feige, an avowed Trekkie, even recently appeared with Matalas on a two-hour episode of the Star Trek podcast Inglorious Treksperts.”
Paul Bettany will reprise his role as the McU's tragic synthezoid. There's no mention of Elizabeth Olsen's (Scarlet Witch) potential involvement, but the trade does note that the series will take place after the events of WandaVision, "as ghost Vision presumably explores his new purpose in life.

One of the joys of being a long-time comics reader is coming across ideas that are equal degrees clever and obvious. It’s safe to say Jed MacKay’s idea to pit Moon Knight, the avatar of an Egyptian god, against a vampire pyramid scheme is one of those.
We saw Marc Spector and his gang of misfits from the Midnight Mission take on an Instagram influencer-esque vampire (peddling eternal undeath instead of essential oils) making a play for control of New York at night, and it was great fun. Marvel Studios is getting back into the Vision business. We don’t know very much about The Gorge, the latest film from Sinister, The Black Phone, and Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson. The Marvel Cinematic Universe lost its biggest hero when Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man fell in Avengers: Endgame, but not after saving the day/Earth 616. Ever since then, the MCU has struggled to create the kind of projects that made it such a global success in the first place.
While most fans have asked for Kevin Feige and company to focus on originality and come up with new narratives that delve into the wealth of characters the Comics have on offer, some have also pressed for a Robert Downey Jr. return. Whether that is a potential option especially considering the actor’s own wishes, Feige had previously claimed they would ‘never want to mafically undo’ Stark’s heroic death.

At long last, it seems the MCU is getting closer to its mutation. We’re only two months away from Deadpool & Wolverine, which in its own way will bring something of an evolutionary leap to Marvel’s cinematic DNA. The world is still raving about the stellar first season of animated show X-Men ’97. And now, there are signs that we’re getting closer to the thing fans have been really waiting for: a proper MCU X-Men movie. X-Men ‘97 has left fans more excited than ever before to see a live-action take on the mutant team.
