In the last few episodes this show has tried very hard to try and flesh out its supporting characters.
We've discovered that Daniel may not just be a womaniser, he might have a heart.
We've learnt that despite perhaps getting the job through family connections Caleb might not have a good relationship.
And here we learn that Lexi might have a soft centre underneath all the 'hilarious' comments.
However, while this has helped the fact remains that even these 'discoveries' are standard sitcom elements we've seen a thousand times before.
The Carol/Lexi story is ok, it works just about, though Carol remains annoying, but the B plot is weak - two doctors trying to diagnose a patient quickly to win a bit, really??
This isn't a bad sitcom, it's just a little lazy, relying on Patricia Heaton to carry it through.
