Whenever a popular sitcom or drama from years ago tries to come back, I worry. The series that we love are so often a product of a specific moment in time for the people who make them, the characters on them, and the people watching. Change that moment, things start to feel wrong, and can even leave the audience questioning why they liked the original run in the first place.

Jonathan Majors sat down for an interview with Linsey Davis of ABC News Live, his first since he was found guilty last month of assault and harassment of ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari.
In the wake of his conviction, Disney/Marvel Studios, a sister division to ABC, dropped him from the Marvel universe.
ABC News will be giving the interview a lot of play. It will premiere on Good Morning America on Monday, and will air across other network platforms including GMA3: What You Need To Know. An extended version will stream on ABC News Live’s Prime with Linsey Davis that evening, and ABC News Studios’ Impact x Nightline will stream a half hour special with more from the interview. That will be posted on Hulu starting on Jan. 11.
Reps for Majors and the Manhattan D.A.’s office did not respond to Deadline in regard to the ABC sit-down.

The odds that “Jimmy Kimmel Live” would still be here, 20 years after its launch on Jan. 26, 2003, were astronomically low. The network hadn’t done a traditional late-night talk show since the short-lived “Into the Night With Rick Dees” in 1991, and the time slot’s previous inhabitant, “Politically Incorrect,” had been canceled due to declining ratings — and controversy over 9/11-related comments host Bill Maher had made.
Those early reviews were rough and the show struggled in its early months to book guests. And soon, Kimmel’s biggest backer at the network, then-abc chairman Lloyd Braun, was out the door.
But there was a glimmer of promise from the start: Early on, ABC execs said they were encouraged by the show’s first week national ratings, especially among young male viewers..

Lionsgate thriller Fall will make an estimated 2.5+ million this weekend at 1,548 locations for a PSA of about 1,618. The audience was broader than it might have been after a company founded by director Scott Mann swapped dozens of f-words, moving Fall from an R to a PG-13 rating.
The firm, called Flawless, launched last year to specialize in foreign-language “vubbing,” for visual dubbing, which uses artificial intelligence to subtly shift lip and facial movements to match words spoken. But in Fall, its first project, the urgency was around English-language expletives by English-language actors during a stressful high-altitude shoot in the middle of Covid. Costly reshoots weren’t an option, nor really were cuts.
