The recent Masked Singer finale on May 22 was an exciting one as Vanessa Hudgens, best known for her role in High School Musical, was crowned the winner of Season 11, singing under the guise of Goldfish. Competing against Scott Porter who performed as Gumball, Hudgens’s victory was particularly momentous given their shared history from the film Bandslam. Vanessa Hudgens had to meticulously conceal her identity throughout the competition, which involved strict measures like wearing a face shield, hoodie, and gloves to avoid detection. Despite her efforts, many fans and friends, including judge Rita Ora, quickly deduced her identity. I...

“I felt good about the first night. I was singing Kelly Clarkson. I’m singing her song in close to her key and it was ‘Wizard of Oz Night’ and I didn’t necessarily pick that song,” reveals Scott Porter while reflecting on his time as Gumball on “The Masked Singer.” “During dress rehearsal that night, I thought I had it all together and I had a panic attack.” Watch our full video interview above.
Despite a rocky start that landed him in a smackdown, Scott was able to survive all the way to the Season 11 finale, where he finished runner-up to Vanessa Hudgens as Goldfish. Although Vanessa had no clue she was competing with her “Bandslam” co-star, Scott recognized her voice instantly.

One of our favorite fellows competing on “The Masked Singer” season 11 is disguised as the Gumball. He wowed the crowd in his first appearance on March 13 with a medley of “If I Only Had a Heart” by Jack Haley and “Heartbeat Song” by Kelly Clarkson. It became clear quite quickly that this contender is someone who has made his living by raising his voice in song.
Forget those guesses by the judges Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Rita Ora and Robin Thicke that Gumball is Chace Crawford, Jamie Dornan or Kevin Jonas. We’ve rewatched that first performance and taken another look at his clues package. We are sure we’ve cracked the code as to Gumball’s true identity. Keep reading as we have all your “The Masked Singer” spoilers, including the answer to the question, “Who is Gumball?”

Artists suing generative artificial intelligence art generators have hit a stumbling block in a first-of-its-kind lawsuit over the uncompensated and unauthorized use of billions of images downloaded from the internet to train AI systems, with a federal judge’s dismissal of most claims.
U.S. District Judge William Orrick on Monday found that copyright infringement claims cannot move forward against Midjourney and DeviantArt, concluding the accusations are “defective in numerous respects.” Among the issues are whether the AI systems they run on actually contain copies of copyrighted images that were used to create infringing works and if the artists can substantiate infringement in the absence of identical material created by the AI tools. Claims against the companies for infringement, right of publicity, unfair competition and breach of contract were dismissed, though they will likely be reasserted.

The Young and the Restless is one of the few daytime soap operas still standing for a reason. The show – which debuted on CBS in 1973 – has featured countless talented actors and even more outlandish storylines over the years. And some actors – such as Michael Damian, who plays Danny Romalotti on the show – continue to keep returning to The Young and the Restless.

Damian made his debut on The Young and the Restless in 1980. He remained on the show until 1998. However, the actor returned to the soap opera in 2002 until 2004 and for brief stints in 2008 and 2012-2013. Finally, Damian returned to his iconic role in 2022, much to the delight of longtime fans.

Warner Bros. Discovery has had a rough go of it recently. The newly-formed mega corporation’s decision to callously prune HBO Max’s servers of hours of content has led to mountains of bad PR and billions of dollars in market cap losses. Suffice it to say, a jam-packed list of new HBO Max releases for September 2022 would provide some welcome relief for the “House of the House of the Dragon.”
Unfortunately, HBO Max’s new releases this month are uncommonly light. It’s impossible to say whether this is the result of more Wbd meddling or simply some bad scheduling luck but either way it’s not going to make any executives’ seats less warm. There are only a handful of notable originals this month, led by season 2 of the Spanish language comedy Los Espookys on Sept. 16. That is joined by a pair of documentaries, Escape from Kabul on Sept.

Netflix yesterday unveiled an episode of its talk show My Next Guest Needs No Introduction taped prior to the 2022 Oscars, which saw disgraced actor Will Smith sit down with former late-night host David Letterman to discuss his 2021 memoir Will, his Oscar-winning King Richard role, “pain” stemming from his childhood and more.
The interview saw Smith reference the first line from his memoir by admitting that he’s always thought of himself as “a coward,” given a traumatic experience at age nine. It was at this point in his life that he watched his mother get beat up by his father without stepping in.
Smith said that processing life experiences like this via the writing of his memoir “unlocked” a part of him, “as an actor,” that is unlike anything he’s experienced. “Life is so exciting to me right now because I can reach people differently than I’ve ever been able to reach people,...

With “Final Cut,” Oscar-winning filmmaker Michel Hazanavicius has to convince audiences that he’s a very bad director. At least for the first 20 minutes or so of the movie within a movie. You see, “Final Cut,” a remake of the 2017 Japanese cult favorite, “One Cut of the Dead,” initially unspools as a low-budget zombie film, one produced with few frills and even less talent. It later pulls back to explore the lives of the director, crew members and actors behind that zombie feature in greater detail revealing the behind-the-scenes farce that results in a movie that is, how to put it, not very good.
“It was weird,” says Hazanavicius. “I spent 30 years trying to improve things and make things better, and I had to do the opposite. I had to make something that was not good. It’s a failed film. The director is trying to make a B movie...

What happens when antique artifacts are the cause of a deadly home invasion?
On S.W.A.T. Season 5 Episode 21, the team track down porcelain statues after finding out that hitmen are hurting anyone that get in the way. And in a turn of events, following a near-death experience, Chris realizes her true feelings for Street.
Meanwhile, as Hondo closes in on the stash houses, his relationship with Leroy is put to the test.
Since I feel like a broken record at this point, I'm just going to get right into it.
After five seasons of "will they, won't they" and "I love you but I can't be with you," Street and Chris finally got together.
While it did take Street almost dying again to make Chris come to her senses, it did happen. Even after their very honest and heartbreaking conversation earlier in the episode.
You already made me feel like a fool.

Thar(Netflix)
Starring Anil Kapoor, Harshvarrdhan Kapoor, Fatima Sana Shaikh
Tum Aa Gaye Ho Noir Aa Gaya Hai….In Thar the most expressive face is that of a bright little girl who points our young discernibly troubled hero to the address that he searches in the godforsaken village of Maunabao in Rajasthan. Godforsaken, because people are dying horribly tortured deaths and there is nothing our cop-hero can do about it.
The cop Surekha Singh, if you must know, played by a trying-hard-to-look-intense Anil Kapoor, is a deeply disenchanted man. His wife, played by the wonderful Nivedita Bhattacharya, has nothing but contempt for his lack of ambition. His son very bluntly tells his father he wants to become an Ips officer, so he can come back to their village and lord over his father.

Miranda Lambert’s 2021 collaborative album The Marfa Tapes, with Jack Ingram and Jon Randall, was a stripped-down set that helped resituate the Texas-born Lambert in the tradition of Lone Star singer-songwriters like Guy Clark and Robert Earl Keen. It also further cemented the country star’s reputation for stylistic risks — following 2019’s more conventionally fantastic Wildcard, and released in the same year she dropped a tropical house remix of “Tequila Does.”

If Chicago Fire co-showrunner Derek Haas has his way, the current season will close out with a familiar face: the return of Jesse Spencer as firefighter Matt Casey, who exited the NBC drama last October.

And yes, I talked to him last week so I’m very hopeful that that’s going happen.”

Considering Marvel’s new show is called Moon Knight, it’s funny to think that we’ve only spent about 45 seconds with its titular superhero thus far.
The decision to hold off on revealing the vigilante’s otherworldly form until the final moments of the premiere was deliberate, just one of the many benefits of telling Moon Knight’s story as a TV series rather than a feature film.

When Marvel fans noticed that scenes from The Falcon and the Winter Solider were edited down from the original version, many wondered if the streamer was quietly censoring more violent content on the platform.
But it looks like that alternate version was uploaded by mistake. Sources tell TVLine that those censored scenes were published accidentally as part of a version control issue. Disney+ is working on fixing the problem as quickly as possible.

Television has given a platform to a great number of lunar-related heroes through the ages, from Neil Armstrong to Sailor Moon. Thanks to Marvel and Disney+, we can now add one more name to that celebrated (albeit extremely specific) list.
Enter Marvel’s highly anticipated (and well-reviewed!) new series Moon Knight, easily the most refreshing departure from anything we’ve seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since WandaVision. In fact, as director and executive producer Mohamed Diab recently told TVLine, “A lot of people are telling me that if there was no MCU logo at the beginning of Episode 1, no...

At a time of strife, division, anxiety, and war, you might think the moment would be right for a nostalgic escape to the retro-excessive trash-movie mystique of the ’90s — an age when action thrillers were big, loud, decadent, “rebellious” and, as often as not, ripped off from “Die Hard.” “Ambulance,” however, could make you rethink that impulse. It’s directed by Michael Bay, who over the years has trafficked in a great many varieties of excess: massively scaled kiddie gizmo excess (the “Transformers” films), apocalyptic sci-fi excess (“Armageddon”), fake-authentic historical excess (“Pearl Harbor”), and good old buddy-movie excess (“The Rock” and “Bad Boys”). “Ambulance,” a propulsively violent and in-your-face chase thriller, stakes out a genre we might simply call ’90s excess.

As you may know Nerdly, the website, and our fledgling – but growing – YouTube channel are proudly latched on to the Romford Film Festival. Just a few years ago, in 2015, Reinaldo Marcus Green was a grad student at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, angling for extra time with his professor — Spike Lee. Flash-forward six years: Marcus Green has directed one of the best-reviewed dramas of 2021 — “King Richard,” starring Will Smith as Richard Williams, the father of tennis champs Venus (Saniyya Sidney) and Serena (Demi Singleton). And Lee is more than happy to set aside some time to talk with his star pupil over Zoom.
“I want to have the kind of staying power that Spike has,” Green says to Lee, noting the “Do the Right Thing” director’s influence over his career. “You graduated in 1982. I was born in ’81. I got some years to catch up, Spike, but I’m working on it.” In a candid conversation demonstrating their ongoing mentor-mentee relationship, the two filmmakers discuss the importance of showcasing Black families (and saluting Black mothers) on-screen.

Spoiler Alert for those who have not seen the film “Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui.”
Bollywood A-lister Ayushmann Khurrana headlines the cast of transgender-themed romance “Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui,” which is currently on release worldwide.
Across Indian cinema as a whole, trans characters have been portrayed sensitively as leads of films like “Daayra” (1996) “Tamanna” (1998), “Just Another Love Story” (2010), “Nanu Avanalla Avalu” (2015), “Njan Marykutty” (2018) and “Super Deluxe” (2019). However their representation in mainstream commercial Bollywood cinema veers between villainous characters, like Sadashiv Amrapurkar’s Maharani in “Sadak” (1991), and crude comedy parts. “Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui” is unique in that it brings a trans character to the fore in Bollywood.
Khurrana plays Manvinder Munjal, a macho gym instructor in the northern Indian city of Chandigarh, who is smitten with Maanvi Brar, a Zumba teacher who shares his work space. They consummate their relationship and decide to get married when Maanvi reveals that she used to be a...

Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui
Starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Vaani Kapoor
Directed by Abhishek Kapoor
The most modest praise for this wonderful film would be that it is by far the best post-Covid Hindi release. Which is not saying much, considering the abysmal near-unpalatable fare that Bollywood has been shamelessly shelling out since the Pandemic.
Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui is quite simply the film everyone must see. It tell us about tolerance, and acceptance without getting preachy and screechy. Director Abhishek Kapoor manages the near-miraculous feat of keeping the tone blithe and buoyant even when the going between the couple gets really rough.
There is a disarmingly fine-tuned moment of pathos running into humour without collision when the film’s lead pair has a showdown on the street of Chandigarh. Two cops, concerned about ‘Bahenji’ stop to inquire.
You have to see the rest of the sequence to know what fluent screenwriting is all about.

He will spearhead an awards-season push for the pic, which is only the second Haitian film to be submitted to the Academy Awards’ International Feature category.

Will Smith writes in his new memoir “Will” that he meticulously studied Tom Cruise’s press tours while planning how he would become the biggest movie star in the world, a bigger one than even Cruise himself. But it turns out Will Smith is no match for Tom Cruise when it comes to promotional skills. Smith had the hit sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” under his belt, but he was eager to make the jump to global movie star. That’s when Smith got some essential advice from none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger at the May 1996 launch of the Planet Hollywood restaurant in Sydney, Australia.
Here’s what Schwarzenegger told Smith (via Insider): “You are not a movie star if your movies are only successful in America. You are not a movie star until every person in every country on earth knows who you are. You have to travel the globe,...
