Singer Frankie Valli‘s son, Emilio, has been granted a temporary restraining order against his brother, Francesco. In recent months, Emilio claims that Francesco has repeatedly threatened to harm him and their famous father.
The request for the restraining order was filed on April 8 by Emilio, 29, in Los Angeles. In the filing, Emilio stated that Francesco, 36, attempted to break into their father’s property on April 5. During the incident, while waiting for law enforcement to arrive, Francesco allegedly made multiple physical threats to harm or even kill both Frankie and Emilio. Emilio asserted that this behavior is part of a pattern that has persisted for several months.
Emilio indicated in the filing that the family believes Francesco is struggling with addiction to opiates. While Frankie has been providing financial support to his son, Emilio claims that the support is now conditional on Francesco agreeing to enter a residential drug treatment program.

Sylvester Stallone’s three young daughters were once convinced that acting wasn’t a talent they were born with. And one of the daughters felt she found this out the hard way.

In 1964, The Beatles traveled to America for the first time, making Beatlemania a nationwide phenomenon. John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr had been successful in England, but they quickly became the most famous people in the world. Immediately before this unprecedented success, though, the band worried that their popularity was fizzling out. Critics thought they were a passing fad, which worried the band.

In Oct. 1963, The Beatles went from a success story in England to a widespread phenomenon. They had reached the top of the charts, and everywhere they went, screaming packs of fans followed. Soon, they were the subject of nearly every news story in the country.
“From that day on, everything changed,” the band’s press officer, Tony Barrow, said, per the book The Beatles: The Authorized Biography by Hunter Davies.

"We're good at what we do... because we use alternative methods of recovery." Vertical Ent has released an official trailer for an indie crime thriller titled Collection, the latest feature made by indie writer / director Marianna Palka. Recently known for her role on the Emmy winning & SAG nominated Netflix series Glow, she previously directed Egg (2018), starring Christina Hendricks and Anna Camp, which first premiered at Tribeca to rave reviews. This is her seventh film since her premiere film, Good Dick. Collection tells of a grieving father who grapples with the seedy, manipulative world of high stakes debt collection while also struggling to shed the tragedies of his past. He'll find himself pitted against his best friend, his prodigy and his love. Collection stars Alex Pettyfer, Mike Vogel, Breeda Wool, Willam Belli, Shakira Barrera, Joseph Julian Soria, and Paige Howard. This looks as dull and forgettable as the title, not much to see.

Another month, another array of Criterion Collection releases, and it’s a particularly great month of releases. First up, a crown jewel from the Howard Hawks’ oeuvre, the legendary screwball comedy “Bringing Up Baby” with Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn. Audio commentary comes from one of the premiere Hawks-o-philes, Peter Bogdanovich, so that alone is probably worth the price of admission. The online edition of the two-part Berlin International Film Festival has now concluded, and the jury has announced their winners. Leading the pack taking home the Golden Bear was Romanian director Radu Jude’s new film Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn, while Ryūsuke Hamaguchi’s Wheel of Fortune and Fantasy took home the Silver Bear for Grand Jury Prize.

“When the Time Is Right” manages to be both nonchalant and agitated at the same time. Producer Cody Currie lays out a series of contrasts — between the stubby, stabbing electric piano and the marauding bass, between a stern, slapping cymbal and a stream of hurrying, rat-a-tat percussion — over a driving rhythm. The result is freeing for dancers, who can choose to align their movements with either the calmer or the more frenetic elements in Currie’s track.

The first time that producer Ted Templeman saw Van Halen playing at the Starwood in West Hollywood one night in 1977, he burst out of the club’s doors to find the nearest payphone. He called Donn Landee, a recording engineer he worked closely with, and left several messages. “You’ve got to see this guy,” was all he could say, referring to the band’s flashy guitar player, Eddie Van Halen. At the time, Templeman was working at Warner Bros. and he had only one thought in his mind: “I had to make this deal.

Apex Legends fans finally know when to expect one of the battle royale’s most frequently requested features.
Starting next week, Respawn Entertainment will deliver on its promise of allowing players on different platforms to team up with and play against each other, in turn exponentially expanding the pool of potential teammates/opponents for Apex‘s matchmaking system to pull from. In order to accommodate the anticipated feature’s arrival, however, the developer has had to make a series of important changes behind the scenes, including to the game’s social functions. Unlike so-called closed online environments (e.g. Xbox owners can only match with others on the same console), adding a friend across entirely different online networks requires specific in-game support.
Fortunately, however, the process here is pretty simple and only requires inputting a username (from any platform) into Apex‘s new “Find Friend” option. The recipient of your...

We’re hosting another Sci-Fi Explosion in conjunction with the Warner Archive Collection, here’s the details!
Far beyond the usual sci-fi space stories there lies a strange galactic outpost where inexplicable Star Wars-themed music videos rub shoulders with cosmic cartoons, weird robot PSAs and other forgotten orphans of genre insanity.
This is the domain of Sci-Fi Explosion.
For the past six years I have been bringing this cosmic cabaret of craziness to conventions and other genre events throughout the East Coast, and I’m beyond pleased to be teaming up with Den of Geek this Friday night for a celebration of the Warner Archive Collection.
In case you are new to this galaxy, let me bring you up to speed. Since 2009 the Warner Archive Collection has been bringing a jaw-droppingly diverse assortment of titles from the studio’s impressive catalog to Blu-ray and DVD, manufactured on-demand. What this...

The Action Scene is a column exploring the construction of action set pieces, but it also considers “scene” in the sense of field or area: “action” as a genre and mode that spans different cultures and historical periods. By examining these two levels in tandem—one oriented toward aesthetic expression, the other toward broader contexts and concepts—this series aims to deepen appreciation for and spark discussion about action cinema.Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009) is, in many ways, the perfect Wes Anderson film—which is to say, it is the perfect film about a certain idea of perfection predicated on a tight sense of control. By this point, the filmmaker’s meticulous visual style has become familiar to the point of cliché: frames within frames; compartments within compartments; hard lines and straight edges; characters and objects ostentatiously arranged for the camera like figurines in a diorama. With not a hair out...

As much as movies lived and died by their trailer and movie poster, newspaper ads were equally important for decades. In some cases newspaper movie ads may have featured different titles or taglines, alternate art, or different presentations than you may remember from the theatrical poster. Newspaper ads were an art form of their own and the Alamo Drafthouse has an incredible collection of 60,000 original letterpress plates, featuring movies from the 1930s to the 1980s.
They are sharing these ads with the world in a unique way via "The Press Room Collection," which features an eclectic mix of items that make use of these letterpress plates ads:

Wes Anderson’s beloved 2014 Oscar winner “The Grand Budapest Hotel” arrived on The Criterion Collection this week with 25 minutes of animated storyboards narrated by the filmmaker himself. Polygon exclusively debuted the first of six animated storyboard sequences: “Introduction,” “Washer Woman,” “Killing of Kovacs,” “Prison Escape,” “Gabelmeister’s Peak,” and “Hotel Show-Down.” The clip below brings the beginning of “The Grand Budapest Hotel” to life through Anderson’s hand-drawn graphics and provides an early look at how the filmmaker envisioned the various shots and camera movements that would kick off his period comedy-drama. The result is a barebones, black-and-white animated version of a Wes Anderson movie.

Bong Joon Ho’s Best Picture winner “Parasite” and his 2003 film “Memories of Murder” will receive special edition releases as part of the Criterion Collection, the “Parasite” distributor Neon and Criterion announced Thursday.
There’s no target release date for the special home video releases yet or whether the films will immediately become available on The Criterion Channel for streaming, but it’s rare to see Criterion partner with a distributor to specially release a movie still in theaters.
Criterion just released a special edition of Netflix’s “Roma,” which was nominated for Best Picture in 2019, and Criterion also recently partnered with Neon on Céline Sciamma’s “Portrait of a Lady on Fire,” which is opening in theaters in limited release this weekend.

With each month that passes, Netflix subscribers brace for a new wave of content – movies, TV shows, binge-worthy Netflix Originals… that kind of thing.
But in order to make way for that fresh deluge of entertainment, the streaming service sheds a number of titles, and February 2020 is no different. So as subscribers prepare themselves for Altered Carbon season 2 and Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back—Evolution, they must also bid farewell to the likes of District 9, Gangs of New York and The Matrix Trilogy. Though surely the first Matrix film is the only one worthy of a goodbye. The sequels? Not so much.
Horror fans will be forced to bid adieu to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, too, while much of the Jeopardy! series will be leaving the Netflix service on February 27th. It’s part and parcel of the company’s ‘revolving door’ approach to content; as new material is added...
