Fandom can be a scary thing. While a shared love of a certain story or collection of characters is usually the best outcome for a franchise, legions of fans who obsessively poke holes into every new expansion of their favorite fictional world can end up destroying the very thing that they hold so dear. That’s not to say that we should blindly consume whatever slop giant media conglomerates throw our way, but gratuitous hate and unrealistic expectations don’t really help anyone.
And with all the controversy surrounding the upcoming Silent Hill 2 remake, I’ve been thinking a lot about how silly it is for fans to automatically assume that a game will be bad based on a few short teasers.
I mean, I saw the same promotional footage as everyone else and I honestly don’t see anything wrong with it. Sure, it doesn’t look like the best game ever made,...

The games in the series are not typical skateboard video games and stand apart owing to their unique control system. The last update for the game came recently in an interview where the team discussed the revival of the game, now titled skate.
The Potential Summer Game Fest Announcement is Sure to Catch Gamers Off Guard
The series will be retitled with the new game.
Players could feel the wind as they flowed like water on their skateboards, and they felt the nauseating feeling while going up and down in the air.

When people got their first look at the Silent Hill 2 remake, it must have triggered a lot of memories, not all of them happy. Sure, people must be happy that a beloved horror title is getting an upgrade for modern consoles, but it will also bring back all the horrors and scares in even higher resolution.
However, it’s not the only game that is sure to disturb you. The horror genre has been buzzing lately, and we now have another addition to that roster. With dreary visuals, disturbing creatures, and claustrophobic environments, Post Trauma might be what you need before the release of the remake.

Cyberpunk 2077 may have had a rough launch, but the game has evolved over the years to become not only playable but one of the best games of the current generation. CD Projekt Red has worked tirelessly to release patch after patch to ensure their latest flagship title is playable.
One aspect some gamers had an issue with regarding the title was the first-person perspective, and the melee combat was not the most satisfying. But what if Cyberpunk 2077 setting was combined with Batman Arkham Asylum’s combat mechanics? Well, we’d have Kiborg!

Immersive titles such as those from CD Projekt Red have a special place in every gamer’s heart. But sometimes you just want to sit back with a title that doesn’t demand much from the player but is still a fun experience.

The Silent Hill 2 Remake is a title that many people had very high hopes for. The original Silent Hill games are cult classics with a deeply loyal fanbase behind them; you can imagine the kind of expectations people had for the remake.
After the trailer for the upcoming release was dropped during the recent PlayStation State of Play, however, reactions are mixed, and it looks like the team behind the title is quickly doing some damage control to regain some of its trust.

In a recent interview with Famitsu, Producer Motoi Okamoto spoke about the upcoming remake being handled by Bloober Team. The interview couldn’t have come at a better time, as it’s soothing over some fans who were upset after the first trailer.

The new version of Silent Hill 2 is pretty divisive, especially as more features are revealed. A recent talk with the person in charge of the series, Motoi Okamoto, in Famitsu magazine gives more information about how the game is being made. The developers who made the original game in Japan, like the person in charge of the pictures, Masahiro Ito, and the person in charge of the sounds, Akira Yamaoka, at first wanted the new version of the game to be more different from the old one than the Polish company Bloober Team wanted.
According to the Famitsu article covered by Automation-Media, Bloober Team really liked the old Silent Hill 2 game and wanted to make a new version that stays true to the original but also feels modern. But the developers who made the original game wanted something different. Okamoto thinks this is because creators like to look...

Konami may get a bad rap for having squandered the Silent Hill franchise in the years leading up to the recent series renaissance (which is set to culminate in both a big budget remake of Silent Hill 2 as well as a new Christophe Gans film), but there was a time when the company was criticized for releasing too much Silent Hill media in an attempt to keep the IP fresh in consumers’ minds.
While some of these franchise expansions were obvious cash-grabs, others experimented with the cursed town in ways that we’ve yet to see again. And in honor of the new Silent Hill experiences set to grace consoles and cinema screens in the upcoming year, today I’d like to look back on a collection of forgotten spin-offs from the 2000s that I think (mostly) deserve more love.

Prior to the immense success of television shows like "The Last of Us" and "Fallout," many audiences felt that video game adaptations were cursed. There were plenty of quick cash grabs and bizarre attempts at movie adaptations that just didn't work throughout the years, but one secret standout is the 2006 Christophe Gans film "Silent Hill." Based on the Konami video game series of the same name, "Silent Hill" follows a mother (Radha Mitchell) who goes into the uniquely haunted town of Silent Hill to try and rescue her adopted daughter, Heather (Jodelle Ferland). While the film isn't super accurate to the story from the games, it does capture the mood and some of the themes and completely nails the aesthetic, which can be half the battle with video game titles as visually recognizable as "Silent Hill." There's just nothing quite like its grungy industrial meat locker vibe and its delightfully disturbing monsters,...

There was talk that Brotherhood of the Wolf and Silent Hill director Christophe Gans’ new Silent Hill movie Return to Silent Hill, which is said to be “totally independent from the two previous movies,” would be having its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this month, but that’s not exactly what happened. What actually happened was that there was a private screening of the film for potential distributors. We don’t know how that went, but we are benefiting from the film’s search for distributors. On Thursday, Sony’s State of Play livestream teased out all the company’s gaming plans for the rest of 2024.
It was mostly a letdown.
Outside of a few updates on remakes like Silent Hill 2, remasters like Until Dawn, and a PC port of God of War: Ragnarök, there were only a handful of new games to show off, the biggest of which was Firewalk Studios’ Concord, a new multiplayer shooter whose CGI-only trailer failed to show players much gameplay, leaving audiences mostly confused as to what the game really is.

The event kicked off with an extended 13-minute look at the gameplay of Silent Hill 2, jumping around various moments in the game. We get scenes of James getting the iconic radio, the reveal of Laura and Maria, the nurses in Brookhaven, and culminating in the appearance of the Flesh Lip. Pre-orders are now open on Steam and the PlayStation Store, with bonuses including a Mira the Dog mask, and exclusive to the PS5, a Robbie the Rabbit mask.

The Silent Hill 2 remake trailer may have had some questionable elements, but thanks to that, fans now have a satirical spin on the footage. Silent Hill 2 is an extremely iconic game that revolutionized the survival horror genre and has left its mark ever since its release, all the way back in 2001. When fans heard about the remake, expectations were very high. But there’s also a lot of concern about what might change in the process, as is the case sometimes with remakes.
The original game is being remade by Bloober Team, the studio behind Layers of Fear and The Medium, and is set to release sometime in 2024. A combat trailer for the remake was released on February 1, but a new satirical trailer might have stemmed from the official Silent Hill 2 remake trailer.

It appears that Konami will finally provide fans with an update on several Silent Hill projects this Thursday with a new edition of Silent Hill Transmission this Thursday. The streamed event will kick off at 7:00pm Et, with updates on the current projects, a “deeper look” at the upcoming Return to Silent Hill film from Christophe Gans, and new merchandise.
The previous Silent Hill Transmission back in October 2022 brought us the official announcement of the Silent Hill 2 remake from Bloober Team, which reposted Konami’s X post for this new edition, so expect news on that front. Silent Hill f developer NeoBards Entertainment studio creative director Al Yang did the same thing, so that’s two follow-ups from last time.
That would leave Annapurna Interactive and No Code Games’ Silent Hill: Townfall as the odd one out, but hopefully we’ll still get an update on that one.

Bloober Team has acknowledged concerns about the previous trailer not fully capturing the essence of the game, so viewers can look forward to a more accurate presentation this time.

Puppet Combo are once again taking it old-school in more ways than one. Originally released in 2019 on itch.io, the developer has announced that their PS2 Survival Horror-inspired title The Glass Staircase will be headed to Steam, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch on May 24.
Described as “a short-form old-school psychological horror game”, The Glass Staircase takes place in 1922, inside a dilapidated estate converted into an orphanage. Four girls attempt to survive long enough to complete their chores and find a new home. As these things go, unknowable horrors have punctuated the history of the house, and they’re about to learn about them the hard way.
Rather than focusing on grotesque slasher horror, The Glass Staircase is a surreal and atmospheric game, inspired by PS2 survival horror titles like Silent Hill 2 and the GameCube classic Eternal Darkness. Of course, you have to toss in those classic 80s Italian horror movies such as The Beyond,...

The third installment based on Konami’s horror survival game, Silent Hill, is expected to release this year. The preview of Return to Silent Hill screened at the Cannes Film Festival and the new Christophe Gans-directed film will be adapted from the game Silent Hill 2. The preview also gave a first look into the villain of the film, and fans are excited to see that the terrifying monster Pyramid Head closely resembled its video game version.

The first two films, Silent Hill and Silent Hill: Revelation, were critical failures. However, gamers were completely blown away by the gameplay of Silent Hill 2, which raises the expectations of the current film. The game took inspiration from Fyodor Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment.

As the Silent Hill franchise continues to crawl its way back to resurgence, fans of the series now look forward to how Konami brings the seminal Silent Hill 2 back into the limelight with an upcoming film and a remake. It’s a humongous task, given how much the game means to the fan base.
Now, with the first look at Silent Hill 2’s adaptation, Return to Silent Hill, reactions range from being positive about the franchise’s future to outright skepticism.
Silent Hill 2’s Film Adaptation Suggests the Film Is Either Going to Be a Masterpiece or a Failure If there could be an award for the most devoted fan base, Silent Hill 2 would arguably win it.

With the 20th anniversary of Silent Hill 4: The Room right around the corner, you’d hope that someone would give some love to this divisive entry to the series. Director Nick Merola has done just that. Much like Leigh Thorne and Ruben Abreu’s fan film Silent Hill: Road of Guilt, Merola has created a short film of his own, this time based on Silent Hill 4: The Room. On top of that, Merola has a more ambitious plan: persuading Konami to develop a television series adaptation.
Silent Hill: The Room recreates the unsettling and iconic intro scene of Silent Hill 4: The Room, where Henry Townshend (played by Brian Dole) wakes up to find himself mysteriously locked in his own apartment. Filmed in just a single day in Merola’s own apartment, the crew included extensive attention to detail. Things ranging from the chained door of room 302, to...

The Esrb recently gave developer Bloober Team’s upcoming Silent Hill 2 remake an “M” Rating. That rating isn’t particularly surprising, nor are many of the specific pieces of in-game content the Esrb cited when explaining their rating. For instance, the governing body noted that Silent Hill 2 contains “realistic gunfire, cries of pain, and blood-splatter effects” as well as “enemies with body parts sewn together.” In other words, standard Silent Hill 2 stuff.
However, there is one part of the Esrb’s rating that certainly stands out. According to that organization, the Silent Hill 2 remake also features “characters pole-dancing in strip-club settings.”
What makes that warning so strange isn’t the idea that Silent Hill 2 features sexualized content. The base game had plenty of sexualized (often disturbingly sexualized) content, and the Esrb rating references some of that legacy material. No, what’s strange about that particular...

The Silent Hill 2 Remake is on the horizon as fans wait for an official release date. While many are still hoping for a Fall 2024 release window, the possibility of 2025 is still in the air.
The Entertainment Software Rating Board (Esrb) recently published the upcoming remake’s rating and it’s what you would expect from the series. Blood, violence, guns, and creatures like Pyramid Head are in the rating summary for Silent Hill 2 Remake. However, one sentence towards the latter half of the summary is tripping up the community.
The game contains some suggestive/sexual material: characters pole-dancing in strip-club settings.
Was this a mistake? Or are Bloober Team and Konami adding pole-dancing into Silent Hill 2 Remake?

Thanks to the Esrb, we’re getting closer to the eventual release of Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2. The Entertainment Software Ratings Board has posted their rating for the upcoming remake, which as you’d expect, gets a Mature rating for “Blood and Gore, Language, Sexual Themes, Violence.”
Spotted by VGChartz, the listing for Silent Hill 2 on the Esrb website gives a summary of the game, as well as detailing what constitutes the game’s M rating. Of note is the description of some of the environments, which “depict large bloodstains and/or intestines/organs on walls, floors, and surrounding bodies.” Silent Hill 2‘s cutscenes also pile on the disturbing stuff, including characters being impaled, a character suffocated to death with a pillow, and enemies with body parts sewn together.

For more than two decades, Silent Hill 2 has been considered one of the scariest games of all time. The game was first released for PlayStation 2, then Xbox and PC, and in 2012, a remastered version was released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game’s psychological horror story often makes it hard for one to play it alone and in order to tackle this problem, a gamer has been looking for a companion.

PlayStation 5 fans are not very fortunate this year; the crop of exclusives that are coming to this platform will be noticeably thinner in 2024. But the few games that are being released for this platform are incredibly well made. Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, Silent Hill 2, and this year’s biggest surprise hit, Helldivers 2.
