The 10th anniversary project of the 2014 TV anime Terror in Resonance has launched. The project's official website has opened with a newly-drawn memorial visual featuring the two protagonists, Nine and Twelve. The psychological thriller TV anime series directed by Shinichiro Watanabe ( Cowboy Bebop ) aired on Fuji TV's "Noitamina" midnight programming block for 11 episodes from July to September 2014. The suspenseful story of two boys, in which a mystery leads to more mysteries, attracted a lot of attention at the time of its broadcast. Director Watanabe says, "I have never forgotten them, ever since the summer ten years ago. Of course, they still live inside me, lamenting that it's hot again this year, and so on." Kaito Ishikawa , the voice of Nine, also comments, "I found myself shedding tears for the umpteenth time, as I was immersed in the deeply thought-provoking theme, the meticulous visual expression, the realistic sound and the...

You could say that Kate Hudson is extremely famous as an actor and almost famous as a singer. That last part is changing as the public gets a gander of the promotional appearances she’s been doing for her debut album, “Glorious,” everywhere from the “Voice” finale to Howard Stern’s show. There’s a nearly universal reaction: “Wow, you can sing… really sing” — which maybe shouldn’t come as such a great surprise after her vocal appearances in the musical films “Nine” and “Music” and a prominent guest spot on “Glee,” and yet, maybe there was a suspicion in those instances that some sort of studio trickery was helping out a slumming movie star.
Now that she’s been doing live TV appearances and making her public performance debut at a star-filled L.A. show, it’s clear that she’s the real deal, as a rocker, and could...

The soundtrack to The Crow showed up in stores two months before the actual movie played in multiplexes. That should give you an idea of how popular soundtracks were back in the day.
During the ‘90s, soundtracks were usually vital to whatever big-screen attraction was hitting theaters at the time.

The first three seasons of "Star Trek: Voyager" featured a character named Kes, played by actress Jennifer Lien. Kes was an interesting concept for a "Star Trek" show: she belonged to a species called the Ocampa that only had a lifespan of nine years. If "Voyager" was to last for seven seasons (as "Star Trek: The Next Generation" did before it), then audiences would watch a two-year-old Kes grow from an adolescent to an old woman by the series finale. Her existence on the U.S.S. Voyager could serve as a symbolic microcosm for a whole human life.
Kes was not a Starfleet officer but was given a provisional position on the Voyager serving as a medical assistant to the ship's snippy unnamed Doctor (Robert Picardo). The Doctor was an Emergency Medical Hologram that the Voyager had to employ out of desperation after the ship's medical staff all died in a massive cataclysm.

Foo Fighters enlisted Wolfgang Van Halen to play a prank on fans during their headlining set Saturday night (May 11th) at the Welcome to Rockville festival in Daytona Beach, Florida.
After playing a medley of Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage,” “Ramones’ “Blitzkrieg Bop,” and Nine Inch Nails’ “March of the Pigs,” frontman Dave Grohl complained to the crowd, “You know who never gets a fuckin’ solo? Me, goddammit, I never get a fuckin’ solo! So, since this is the last fuckin’ night of [our run of spring US dates], I’m gonna do a fuckin’ solo. How about that? … You may think, ‘That guy can’t play a fuckin’ solo.’ You wanna see me do a guitar solo right now?”

Grohl then appeared to play the classic Van Halen instrumental song “Eruption” like a champ, but things got weird when the song kept going after the Foo Fighters leader raised both arms in the air.

Yesterday’s closure of Tango Gameworks by parent company Microsoft was a deep cut for millions in the games industry. Started by legendary game auteur Shinji Mikami, the small Japanese studio gave birth to excellent games like The Evil Within, Ghostwire Tokyo, and most recently, Hi-Fi Rush.
The 2023 rhythmic action-brawler was a complete shadow-drop, yet one of the best games of the year. And why wouldn’t it, with its lively art style and hectic gameplay? However, what elevates the game even further is its curated selection of licensed music, as director John Johanas reveals.

The last couple Reznor-Ross soundtracks weren’t hitting as hard: on The Killer they ceded ground to Morrissey, replacing their multi-tone soundscapes for atmospherics; Bones and All found them exploring some more pastoral tones to admirable, if limited ends; Empire of Light, what can you say. There’s a special joy, then, listening to their work for Challengers, which our review was indeed correct in calling “their most inspired work in some time”––it suggests those bouncier, more aggressive bits from The Social Network becoming an entire album unto themselves.
There’s also “Compress / Repress,” a track the duo wrote with Luca Guadagnino and which finds Reznor making a rare vocal appearance. It’s been, somehow, six years since a non-instrumental Nine Inch Nails album; this writer hopes it sparks something of the frontman’s old habits.

As much as we love them, the Star Trek movies have their share of mistakes. God stealing a starship, John Harrison revealing himself as Khan, McCoy shaving off his beard in The Motion Picture. But it looks like the movie franchise is about to outdo them all.
Paramount has officially added the next Star Trek movie to its 2025 release schedule. According to TrekCore, the project currently called Untitled Star Trek Origin Story will begin production this year, with Seth Grahame-Smith writing and Toby Haynes directing. The film will take place decades before the 2009 Star Trek reboot from J.J. Abrams.
And it’s a terrible idea.
First of all, there’s the question of the timeline logistics of the film. Although one would assume that the film will occur in the Kelvin Timeline, the alternate universe in which Star Trek (2009), Star Trek Into Darkness, and Star Trek Beyond take place, the...

“It’s been a fun challenge to turn this into one fluid experience and take it even further by redesigning the tracks, creating new elements and changing certain parts,” Boys Noize said in a statement. “Especially on ‘Compress / Repress,’ which turns super epic in the end. Road House star Jake Gyllenhaal and his production banner Nine Stories have signed a deal with the backers of two of his recent films, Amazon MGM.
It looks as though Amazon MGM is on something of a charm offensive at the moment. Warner Bros has also signed a slew of first-look deals in a bid to negotiate partnerships with plenty of acclaimed Hollywood creatives as the studio looks to reassert its ‘filmmaker-friendly’ reputation after several years of setting fire to that eminent renown, seemingly as often and as violently as it possibly could.
Over at Amazon however, the executives in charge seem to have realised that since embracing a theatrical release model through its MGM label, the studio is in something of a strong position when it comes to acquiring top-tier talent. After all, it can offer the prestige of a full theatrical release (with the iconic MGM roaring lion...

Jake Gyllenhaal is not bouncing from Amazon MGM Studios after “Road House.” The actor’s Nine Stories production company has closed a three-year first-look film deal with Amazon MGM Studios. The arrangement gives Amazon the right of first-refusal on narrative features by Nine Stories; it applies to both theatrical and streaming. It sounds exactly like the deal Amazon just signed Ryan Gosling to all of six days ago.
But this story is about Gyllenhaal. The actor presently stars in the Prime Video-exclusive “Road House” reboot, which Amazon says has drawn more than 50 million viewers worldwide over its first two weekends, Amazon said on Monday. It’s a Prime Video record.
The road to getting “Road House” on streaming was a bumpy one. Director Doug Liman says when Amazon purchased MGM, his film was quietly slated for streaming against his wishes. Liman originally planned to boycott his film’s SXSW premiere,...

Amazon MGM Studios has closed a three-year first-look film deal with Jake Gyllenhaal’s Nine Stories following the rousing success of his movie Road House on Prime Video, which was the most watched original movie for the studio ever with 50 million global viewers in the pic’s first two weeks.
Under the actor’s new deal, Amazon MGM will have a first look on narrative features Nine Stories intends to produce for both theatrical and streaming.
Prior to the Doug Liman-directed Road House, Gyllenhaal made the movie Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant with Amazon MGM. The pic was released last year in theaters.
Oscar- and Tony-nominated Gyllenhaal founded Nine Stories in 2015 with Riva Marker, a fully capitalized production company dedicated to working with visionary storytellers in all fields. Most recently, Nine Stories produced Antoine Fuqua’s The Guilty, starring Gyllenhaal, which was Netflix’s No. 1 film for more than three weeks.

Dolly Parton has always described her husband as handsome, and Jane Fonda apparently agrees. While they were on set for Nine to Five, Parton’s husband, Carl Dean, dropped by. After a bit of flirtatious banter from Fonda, the two began discussing Parton. She said she was incredibly flattered by what her husband said about her.
Dolly Parton’s husband spoke highly about his wife
Dean stopped by the Nine to Five set to visit his wife and to see Fonda. She had been his celebrity crush for years and he wanted to see her in person. They talked for a bit — Fonda apparently thought he was very good-looking — and the conversation eventually became about Parton.
“That day on the set, after talking to Carl, she came over to me and asked, ‘What did Carl mean when he said that you’re an angel?’ I didn’t know what he had said,...

‘Kidz Bop’ Could Never: Watch a Bunch of Children Cover Nine Inch Nails’ Self-Loathing Anthem ‘Wish’
Music is a great way to teach children about the important things in life — love and loss, hope and sadness, the power of people, and absolutely debilitating, destructive self-loathing and masochism. That’s why we must give a shout-out to the kids who dared to do the impossible and covered Nine Inch Nails’ “Wish.”
The cover is at once very faithful and, understandably, heavily censored: Total hard rock abandon, led by a menacing lead vocal performance from 10-year-old singer Zoë Franziska, who still manages to inject some serious edge into tweaked,...

Silver Lining Entertainment has unveiled the full trailer for an international fantasy thriller titled Nine, made by actor turned filmmaker Chris Attoh. This Ghanaian production is an English-language movie about supernatural powers and strange ritualistic killings. Not to be confused with any of the other movies also titled Nine (including this stop-motion one). When a series of witchcraft-related murders plague Ghana, a homicide detective and an elite, all-female group of assassins must track down the killer before supernatural warfare is unleashed on Earth. They decide to bring in this detective from the US who looks a lot like Kevin Hart. The Nine cast is a mix of South African, Nigerian, American and Ghanaian actors led by Rosemary Zimu, Chris Attoh, Kate Henshaw, and Damien D. The premise for "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" is a little complex for the non-Trekkie, but ripe for drama when one delves in.
The titular station, Deep Space Nine, was in orbit around the non-Federation world of Bajor. For the past several decades, Bajor had been militarily occupied by the Nazi-like Cardassians, a species that regularly enslaved and mass-murdered Bajoran citizens. At the outset of the series, the Cardassian occupation had just ended, and Bajor inherited their disused station. In order to aid the Bajoran restoration, Starfleet was assigned to run Deep Space Nine and to oversee the rebuilding of Bajor's government (which was already tilting dangerously close to a corrupt theocracy).
Commander Sisko (Avery Brooks) was the Starfleet officer put in charge of the broken-down DS9 and his first officer was the haughty former Bajoran resistance fighter, Major Kira (Nana Visitor). "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" was unique in...

In the luddite days of the Nineties, there were a handful of ways to discover a new video game: You could hear about it in the schoolyard from that one kid who swore that their older brother got a copy straight from Japan. You could read about it from a more legitimate source, like a magazine you picked up at Borders. Or you could inevitably stumble across a commercial on TV. That last one, that’s how I discovered the original Final Fantasy VII. But unlike other game commercials that relied on near-traumatic,...

"Star Trek: Voyager" debuted on January 16, 1995, and was the first series on a brand-new Paramount-owned network, the Upn. Like the network, "Voyager" struggled quite a bit, famously floundering in the ratings and unable to secure the kind of cultural cache held by "Star Trek: The Next Generation," a series that had gone off the air in 1994. The premise was promising enough: a brand-new, super-advanced Starfleet vessel, the U.S.S. Voyager, was whisked clear across the galaxy by an ultra-powerful alien being searching for a mate. When the alien died, the Voyager was stranded in the Delta Quadrant, some 75 years away from Earth. Captain Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) would guide her crew back home, using limited resources and unable to call Earth for backup.

Here lies Thomas Eugene Paris, beloved mutant. That’s what Trekkies think about every Jan. 29, known among some as “Threshold Day,” commemorating the 1996 airing of the Star Trek: Voyager season two episode “Threshold.” Threshold Day consists mostly of memes and jokes, poking fun at what most consider one of the series’ worst episodes, if not one of the most embarrassing Star Trek episodes of all time.
While it is certainly corny, “Threshold” doesn’t quite deserve its ignoble reputation. Not only is it far from the worst episode of Voyager (Chakotay’s ancestors’ bones play no part in the story), but it contains a lot of qualities found in the best Star Trek episodes. Is that enough to elevate “Threshold” to the upper Trek tiers? No, but it is enough to give the episode a better reputation than the one it has now.

As the ’80s came to a close, so too did the first wave of the slasher cycle. While they would continue to be produced into the next decade, 1989 was the last gasp of a dying genre. Returning franchises and hopeful upstarts alike struggled to make an impact. We all know you can never really kill a slasher, but it would take Scream‘s reinvention of the concept in 1996 to renew broad interest.
Cutting Class, another ’89 entry in the subgenre, marked the directorial debut — and, as it turned out, sole directorial effort — from Rospo Pallenberg, who notably co-wrote Excalibur, contributed uncredited rewrites on Exorcist II: The Heretic, and served as a “creative associate” on Deliverance. Despite his pedigree, Pallenberg did not write the script; that was the work of Steve Slavkin, who would go on to create Nickelodeon’s pivotal series Salute Your Shorts.
