Advertisers have eyed the Disney+ streaming hub as a place where they might tuck a promotional message alongside the binge-watch of a Marvel series, or, potentially “Phineas & Ferb.” Soon, however, Madison Avenue may have some other opportunities to consider.
Disney is mulling the launch of shopping and gaming experiences on the streaming outlet, with which advertisers could get involved, according to Rita Ferro, president of Disney Advertising Sales. “The world of advertising experiences on AVOD is an important place to be involved in,” Ferro tells Variety, hinting that a new presentation Disney has slated for Las Vegas on Jan. 10 would reveal “what the next level of ad innovations will be” from the company.

On Saturday, Mitchel Musso, who played Oliver Oken on the Disney Channel television series Hannah Montana, was arrested in Rockwall, Texas, on charges of public intoxication and theft.
Police responded to a 7:15 p.m. call over a “disturbance at a hotel.” Earlier, Musso entered the hotel while intoxicated, took a bag of chips and began eating them. When he was asked to pay for the chips, “he became verbally abusive and left without rendering payment.”
Officers spoke with Musso outside the hotel and took him into custody. A statement from police explained that Musso had “several outstanding traffic warrants” for failing to show a driver’s license and having an expired registration. He was arrested for public intoxication and theft (under $100), which are both considered Class C misdemeanors, and was taken to Rockwall County Detention Center to be booked.
After spending one night in jail, he was released on a $1,000 bond on Sunday.

The late, great Paul Reubens completely changed the landscape of comedy with his character of Pee-wee Herman, becoming one of the handful of celebrities like Jim "Ernest P. Worrell" Varney, Cassandra "Elvira" Peterson, and Glenn "Divine" Milstead who become synonymous with their most famous roles. Honestly, there were probably a lot of people who learned of his passing at the same time they learned his actual name. Don't get me wrong, Pee-wee Herman is one of the greatest and most influential characters ever shown on screen and his hopeful embrace of the weird and creative has certainly made the world a better place. But Reubens was so much more than Pee-wee Herman and brought a number of other hilarious roles to life.

This post contains spoilers for "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3."
Being a superhero movie fan requires a constant suspension of disbelief. Whether we're accepting the narrative coexistence of what Sam Wilson calls "the big three", looking past the fact that no one in the world ever really responded to the appearance of Tiamut in "Eternals," or glossing over some high-profile recasts, Marvel Cinematic Universe fans are pretty consistently asked to just kind of roll with things.
Now fifteen years into its run, the franchise has also gotten into the habit of reusing some actors in more than one role, a method that can be either distracting or delightful depending on the context. The list of actors who have appeared in more than one MCU role is already massive, but it grew even more this week as "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" repurposed familiar voices and faces in surprising new roles.

Disney Channel has served as the launchpad for many stars over the years, from the High School Musical kids to the performers who made it big in shows like That’s So Raven and Lizzie McGuire. "Gravity Falls" is one of the most beloved cartoons of the past decade. It is a show that forever changed Disney Xd, with a love for genre, and a level of lore and world-building that isn't very common in animated shows. The show followed the Pines siblings, Dipper and Mabel, who are sent to spend the summer with their great-uncle (or "Grunkle" for short) Stan in a small town in Oregon called Gravity Falls, which is full of supernatural creatures.
Throughout the show, we see a number of mysteries being raised, strange phenomena occurring, and an inter-dimensional being starting to hold a grudge against the Pines that grew into a burning desire to destroy the world.
This culminated with a three-part finale of truly apocalyptic proportions — fitting, since the episode is titled "Weirdmageddon" — that showed the final confrontation between the Pines family and Bill Cipher. It is a very emotional finale,...

Some actors become so prestigious, they can get almost any part they want without auditioning; the awards they've won and the box office receipts from their past blockbusters are all that's necessary to land them a highly-coveted role in an upcoming production. Of course, there are plenty of top performers who still have to audition for roles. But unless a bigger name gets into the running, there's often little standing between them and the chance to play an important character.
However, what rarely gets talked about are actors who not only get turned down for famous TV and film roles but aren't even granted the opportunity to audition for a part. It's especially surprising when the rejected thespian is already an A-lister; you'd think their star power would be enough to at least warrant a courtesy audition. Here, we take a look at a few actors who were never given a chance at notable roles.

A Phineas and Ferb revival is in the works as part of creator Dan Povenmire’s newly inked overall deal with Disney Branded Television.
There will be another 40 episodes of the popular animated series produced as part of the deal, which will equate to two seasons. It’s not clear where the episodes will air, since Disney Branded Television currently produces series across Disney Channel, Disney+, Disney Junior and Disney Xd.
Disney Branded Television President Ayo Davis made the announcement in conjunction with Povenmire during Friday’s Television Critics Association panel.
“There’s songs that we wrote in 2005 for this show that are trending on TikTok. That has been one of the best times in my career is the fact that this whole generation of kids and parents really took this show into their hearts, and it still means so much to them,” Povenmire said.

Has '80s nostalgia in Hollywood gotten out of hand? Yes. But then again, it's not like we're gonna complain about a spin-off of the best '80s movie of all time. Rather than attempting any sort of remake or sequel, "Sam and Victor's Day Off" will take us through the day of the two valet drivers who took the Ferrari on a joy ride and caused Cameron (Alan Ruck) so many headaches. We don't have many details just yet, but we know the movie will be made by the same creators behind "Cobra Kai," the successful TV spinoff of "Karate Kid."
Much like how "Cobra Kai" explores the perspectives of characters who didn't get the main focus in the original movie, this spinoff is expected to depict some events of "Ferris Bueller" from the outside point of view the valets provide. As co-creator Jon Hurwitz explained, "Some of the...

“Phineas and Ferb” co-creator Dan Povenmire was absent-mindedly doodling on a scrap of paper during a meeting when he realized he had sketched his way into his next TV show: It was a hamster, in a superhero outfit.
“It just came from my subconscious somewhere,” he told Variety. “I liked it and I set it aside and took a picture of it. I brought it home, and then I pitched a bunch of ideas for a show for it to my daughter when I was tucking her in one night. I was able to come up with a whole bunch of ideas for it right away.”
Povenmire had just wrapped Disney+’s “Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe,” and was ready to pitch something new. So while on vacation, he created the pilot that would become his latest series, “Hamster and Gretel,” which premieres Friday on Disney Channel (9:35 p.

I'm not sure if I believe in God, but I definitely believe in Damon Lindelof. It wasn't enough for the man to be the showrunner for the groundbreaking series "Lost" (the ending of which was great, thank you very much), but he also had to go and make the best TV show of all time, "The Leftovers." (He also wrote a great episode of "Phineas and Ferb" as well as the absurdly over-nitpicked movie "Prometheus.") The world has not always been kind to Lindelof -- for some reason, people are still spreading around the rumor that the characters on "Lost" were dead the whole time -- but that hasn't...

Halloween is nearly upon us, and that means you’re probably looking for some spooky movies and shows to watch to get you in the spirit of the holiday. Of course, it’s easy to find a good slasher flick or psychological horror on various services, but trying to locate such content that’s family-friendly can sometimes be tough. The good news is, though, that you don’t have to look very far at all if you’re a Disney Plus subscriber, as the platform is filled to the brim with plenty of great Halloween stuff for viewers of all ages.
One option you’re certain to be happy to hear about is the 1993 comedy horror Hocus Pocus, which ranks as one of the most timeless Halloween classics of all time – proven further by its huge haul during its theatrical rerelease this year. This tale of a trio of evil...

In 1969, when “Sesame Street” premiered, it invented a thing called children’s “educational” television, and few would deny that it fulfilled that mission — to teach kids and delight them at the same moment. The legacy of “Sesame Street” is vast, to the point that dozens of children’s shows that don’t call themselves educational, or even think of themselves that way, now subscribe to the same mission. In our era, some of the best kids’ TV has been fast and furious, diabolically witty and smart — the educational equivalent of a roller-coaster ride. I’m thinking of shows like “Team Umizoomi,” “The Loud House,” “Apple & Onion,” and “Phineas and Ferb,” which ended its four-season run on the Disney Channel in 2015. So it’s no surprise that “Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against the Universe” is one of the sharpest kids’ movies in a while.

Movies have been around since the late 19th century, but only now — after more than 100 years of failure — has someone finally made one that hinges on the invention of a ray gun that replaces anyone it shoots with the nearest available chicken. The device is called “The Chicken Replace-inator,” and it’s the latest weapon created by the mad scientist Dr. Doofenshmirtz (of Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated fame) in his never-ending quest to kill the fedora-wearing secret agent who always foils his plans and also happens to be a platypus — Perry the platypus.
The cackling lovechild of Abe Vigoda and the Wicked Witch of the West, Doofenshmirtz has come up with all sorts of cockamamie schemes to destroy Perry over the years — one for each of the 222 episodes of “Phineas and Ferb” that aired on the Disney Channel between 2007 and 2015 — but the Chicken Replace-inator has to be among the dumbest and most inspired.

In the new pandemic era of streaming entertainment, Disney+ has seemingly built up its own strategy. Every summer month has thus far been highlighted by one major movie and then complemented with the typical Disney content.
For August 2020, the big original movie of the hour is Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe. This will be the second Phineas and Ferb movie and the first to make its premiere via streaming. The film premieres on August 28 and finds the Phineas and Ferb gang back together again as they set out across the galaxy to rescue Candace.
Two other Disney+ originals of note this month are Howard (Aug. 7)and The One and Only Ivan (Aug. 14). Howard is a documentary about Howard Ashman, the unheralded lyricist behind Disney classics like Aladdin and The Little Mermaid. The One and Only Ivan is a film based on the book of the same...
