The timing was right for the 9th anniversary of this dreadful event.
As for those who were old enough this 9 September 2001, i am sure this day is as vivid as the ones who witnessed the assassination of JFK. Personally, i discovered the news taking a break in writing a report for the European Parliament about freedom of faith (that has been put on the shelf because of this event!). When I switched on the TV at about 16.00 and see the same reports on every channel, my first reflex was to phone my brother and my father about this (my mother works in a sort of factory without radio, internet or TV so i just wait for her return..).
I remember to have bought this DVD thinking it will be a compilation of the news of this sad day but it's actually a documentary done just before the attacks. Hence you can watch some wonderful shots of WTC and really appreciate how great it was a piece of art. In addition, the documentary offers a history lesson about New York City and its famous skyscrapers. As those towers were really amazing, it would have been a true reward to participate on its inner life and those who worked there seems to value it highly.
Thus, it's very moving to see two of them speaking about the towers and their work, knowing they are among the victims of 9/11. It's all the more tragic than first, one explains that the towers could sustain the crash of a plane and second, he dies just because he stayed there for helping people! This interview makes me realize that among those 3000 victims, a lot of them aren't just "by accident" but "by choices" because their courage and heroism told them to not run and help the others! Just the total opposition to the bastards who did the attacks!
That's why i really don't understand artists who erase the twin towers from their memory (see the first trailer of Spiderman) and congratulate the ones who stay truthful (see Watchmen or the Spider-girl comics with Ron Frenz).
