- TriviaSeveral of the equipment units in the command tent are actually vintage (50s) Hewlett Packard signal generators with cool blue lights added.
- GoofsThe teams sent to backup SG1 (Teal'c and Vala) are SG3 and SG25 as stated by Carter in the briefing room. When Landry tells Mitchell of the situation, he refers to the support teams as SG3 and SG5.
- Quotes
Vala Mal Doran: The Sodan were using these devices for hundreds of years. You'd think there'd at least be a label on the side in bold print that says, "Beware, may cause deadly, extra-dimensional, radioactive, monster-causing creature to appear." Or at least "Danger" would have been nice.

Dreadful (by the usual SG-1 standards)
I've been really enjoying SG-1 from the very beginning, so I really don't want to write a bad review. But, this episode is just daft. It starts off well, you immediately think: Predator! However, there are several bits in the second half that destroy those thoughts of Arnold Schwarzenegger fighting a smart and deadly alien.
Firstly, at one point Mitchell captures a man who has been using a cloaking device. This has nothing to do with the rest of the story, and it seems completely out of place. Then, the conclusion to the episode feels very rushed, and it doesn't really make any sense, for lots of reasons. Also, where is doctor Lam? We haven't seen her for quite a few episodes, and now the SGC appears to have a new doctor without any warning or introduction. That is annoying.
Vala is the only positive in this episode, she is like a breath of fresh air. I hope the show can develop a good relationship between her and Sam. They are vey much like chalk and cheese in this episode. Hopefully, the writers will soften things a little and get everyone to work together more smoothly.
