Yet another family night out goes pear-shaped when the Taylors find themselves kicked out of Wacky Jack's Pizza Pagoda, which I guess is this universe's Chuck E. Cheese. So what did Tim do this time? Nothing, it was those boys. Apparently they defiled a clown by pulling off his nose. Tim sends them right to bed as he and Jill try to figure out what to do with their little baboons. As usual, Jill tries to place the blame on Tim and the example he sets. Tim's overconfidence shines through as he promises Jill that this time tomorrow night, he'll have reformed the boys into being perfect gentlemen at the table. No sooner does he say this do Brad and Randy toss Mark's mattress out the window--thankfully he wasn't on it. Tim's got his work cut out for him. Those boys are all kinds of trouble. So he sets a nice table of building blocks substituting food and sits the boys down, warning absolutely no gross- out stories, no kicking, fidgeting, interrupting, they are to act like little princes. And unless Tim is successful, he must fulfill his promise of taking Jill to the opera, and going by his track record, Jill went ahead and made reservations. First the boys trick Tim into cursing, and then they start repeating everything he says, and to add insult to injury, Jill cranks up some opera music.
A talk with Wilson seems to put things into perspective for Tim, as he pretty much tells him that those at the dinner table don't have a proper respect for the animal who gave its life so they could eat. He dangles the raw chicken in front of the boys and says they should be grateful for it. To further demonstrate his point, Tim carries the uncooked poultry with him as he runs all over the house, causing the boys to give chase, making them feel like the mighty hunters their ancestors were. Their hunt continues into the backyard, where after the boys catch Tim, their meal promptly falls on the ground. Randy refuses to eat it now because it's dirty and gross. Tim tells him that his booger and scab stories are too, and so is their unorthodox dinner manners. Despite Tim's best efforts, he... succeeds. Brad, Randy and Mark behave themselves at dinner that night, and Jill apologizes for ever having doubted him. But we can't end an episode with Tim coming out a winner, so let's go back to Tool Time and see him screw up. When talking about how to properly use a nail gun, it misfires, nailing the dumbkopf's foot to the floor. They cut to a commercial as Al comments on how a nail through the foot must hurt, and so Tim shows him how much it does.
So, after Tim gets out of the hospital and Al takes him to small claims court, I imagine the Taylors will have smoother meal time experiences. While this episode isn't one of my favorites nor is there much plot, I still think it's okay for what it is. It has some good lessons being taught and has some examples to follow. So if you know any little brats who screw around at the dinner table, tell them about Tim's little "chicken hunt" exercise, or make up one of your own. Because, remember, men, what Tim showed us earlier in the episode, that the first three letters of manners spells... man.
