The Greek god Bacchus, better known as Dionysus, was a god of wine, fertility, religious ecstasy, and theatre. He was not evil or demonic and his initiates were not vampires. The Dionysian Mysteries were secret rituals whose details are now lost; some traditions say Orpheus devised the Dionysian Mysteries. The only source for the scandalous depictions of ritual brutality and depravity come from Pliny, a historian who never let the truth get in the way of his prejudices. The worst you can honestly say about Baccus/Dionysus is thet he fathered Priapus, the Greek god of enormous, perpetual erections.
The rolling end credits include "Creature & Make-up Effects by Weta. Ltd". Weta later earned awards for The Lord of the Ring trilogy and The Hobbit trilogy.
