- Quotes
Child: [Roseanne is dressed as Santa] Remember this?
[indicating the teddy bear he brought with him]
Roseanne: Well now, Jason, Santa sees an awful lot of teddy bears.
Child: You gave it to me last year.
Roseanne: Well that's because you were such a good boy!
Child: I hate it! I wrote you a letter asking for a truck.
Roseanne: Hmmm. Mrs. Claus, come here a minute, please.
Jackie: [dressed as Mrs. Claus] Yes, Santa.
Roseanne: There seems to be some mix up. I never got Jason's letter. Now I want you to get on the phone and find the elf responsible for this, and fire him immediately! He's gone! He's history!
Jackie: Right away, Santa!
Roseanne: Happy now, Jason?
[Jason nods]

An okay episode, it's not really that funny and up to standard for this era of ROSEANNE. There is a montage of Roseanne/Santa and various kids on her lap that we also saw on MAMA'S FAMILY's 1986 Xmas episode. Jackie's military precision-like drill for the kids waiting to see Santa is great. "Nobody gets bit on my beat", she declares, referring to the previous Santa who lost a finger to a bratty kid.
There is some nice character development for Darlene in this one, as we learn about her creative writing. Roseanne even mentions Darlene's touching poem that was heard in the great Season 2 episode "Brain Dead Poet's Society". Becky fakes Dan out by showing off an engagement ring from Mark - something she got out of a gumball machine. In hindsight, this kind of foreshadows Becky's elopement in the Season 5 opener.
The Roseanne-as-Santa parts are a little too routine, but the Darlene storyline is good. 6/10.
